ok, I'll take the plunge- count me in I will send out the registration today or tomorrow. I am a little nervous as I have not done a shoebox swap before so I am not sure what to do for it exactly. If it has to be done in 15 minutes, I am assuming the image should be one that does not get colored? If anyone would be willing to send me a picture or two of a shoebox swap "kit" I would be most grateful. I can send you my email if anyone is willing or able. Thanks much!

Blessings.....I just took a photo of my kit from a swap last fall and here is a link to the finished card (well, not exactly the same, as I used a different lace at the swap) Rochester shoebox swap by yellowrose46 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
As you can see, I had all the pieces pre-cut and the ingredients for each card in a zip-lock baggie. All the crafters at my table had to do was stamp the image and assemble the card. If you have a card that is quick to assemble, you can even have an image that you can color...it all depends on the design of the card! Hope this helps a bit. Also, your table project does not need to be a card....it can be a book mark, or a treat bag, or some other paper crafted item that is quick to make. But starting with a simple card will probably be the easiest for your first year.

The only one I have ever been to is this one..and that was last year.. I soooo enjoyed myself. I have gone to wknd retreats before.. which are alot of fun also!!
Janette, a shoebox is simply a project you design and then bring the parts for a table full of friends to copy. It doesn't need to be complicated but think about what kinds of cards you like.
Although I do a lot of coloring, many of my favorite cards don't involve coloring but feature Cuttlebug embossing, a couple layers, border punches, maybe a ribbon or brad.
Here are 2 of my cards... Verve Thanks by LodiChick - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
People sometimes struggle with coming up with ideas. It is okay to CASE a card you find on-line, just be sure to give credit to the source. Or find one you like and do a couple modifications to make it your own.

LOVE everything about this one! What embossing folder is it?
tracy-i assume our tables will be no more than 8-10 per table?
just thinking ahead. i might just start a shoebox project this weekend.
or my time might be better spent working on swaps for regionals

Thanks Nancy, a chat thread was on my to-do list but you saved me!
Arlene, I think I just scored a couple of lines and then used the Swiss Dots folder above and below the lines. I know there is a similar folder out there but I used what I had.

Another thing for our newbies to remember is that everyone is very helpful and welcoming. We all had our first swap/shoebox project at some point and from what I have seen there will be lots of people to ask if you're unsure of your next move.
To those in the Amherst/Buffalo area: if you know anything about the Lord Amherst Hotel (is it clean, does it smell, etc.) would you please comment on the hotel thread. Thanks!
Janett, I do images that need coloring, and also had some at our tables at this event last year that required work like that. It just depends on how difficult you make the total card whether it will take more than 15 minutes.

And to add to Andi's suggestion.....if you do have an image that needs coloring, the ladies could make the card first and then do the coloring last.......even if you don't finish that, you can finish it during lunch or later at home.

HI Tracy- 3 of us from our group sent our money and registrations in yesterday (Deb Travis-Pound, Missy Walker and Missy Sinks) so you can add us to the list..
I have a question about the SU Card front swap- do we have to use a current SU set or is a retired set acceptable? (I didn't see any of the guidelines on here unless I wasn't looking in the correct spot.) thanks for letting me know. see you in April- we are looking forward to it!
A few more payments came in today and I have updated the list in post #2
Just a reminder, registration will close on April 2nd so we can post final swap #'s to give everyone ample time to prepare. That is also the last day to get payments in.
:-D Start your Spring cleaning now and donate to From Our Hearts so the troops can have cards to send home to their families!!! Clean out your swaps to make room for all the goodies you'll collect on April 30!!! I will be happy to collect your donations of cards, cardfronts, ATCs, envelopes, clear jackets/bags, pens, and small notepads. PLEASE: NO GLITTER!!! NO FEATHERS!!! Linda B, other friends, and I will finish assembling the cards, put them with envelopes, and into clear jackets/bags to send to From Our Hearts. FOH now has requests from 36 locations X 300 cards per box=10,800 cards per month...WOW!!!! IF they even have enough cards to send to all 36 location!!! Please visit From Our Hearts to read more about this organization. If you remember Sandee R from last year, her mom started this when she sent cards to Sandee's brother and his unit. The cards, etc. that you donated last year were part of the 85,791 shipped to Iraq and Afganistan in 2010:
For the year 2010:
Cards mailed: 85,791
# of boxes mailed: 284
Cost of postage: $3,721
January 2011:
Cards mailed: 15,723
# of boxes mailed: 56
Cost of postage: $725.20
Total cards mailed to date as of January 31, 2011: 129,993
Thank you in advance for any and all help to FOH!!!!
Arlene, do they have to be handmade cards? I get lots of cards every year from organizations I donate to, ie: Heart and Stroke, the Lung Association, Alzheimers, Osteoporosis, etc....you get the idea. They are for the most part lovely cards, but do have the organization's name on the back. Would I be able to donate them?

I will take those, too. Anything with glitter I will pass onto Ronald McDonald House.
We have another friend joining us this year, so there will be 4 of us coming together.
I'm looking forward to April 30th. It will be here before you know it.
March Break next week, maybe I can take a bit of time to figure out what swaps I want to participate in and get some idea for my shoebox.
My shoe box is done for 4th annual spring .... quick and easy... I'm waiting on my su order to do my SU only swap and NVR swap. Hmm i could start on the nvr swap , couldn't I.?? I have all my swaps and shoeboxes done for Stampinalong the lake. I guess I'll work on that one.
You are so organized, Liz! I haven't even given one thought to what I'm doing yet...for my shoebox or my swap! :(

I'm thinking I better get some ideas planned so if I have to order or shop there's time to get supplies. Last year I had a ribbon crunch and the package made it just in time!
