You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Deadline Deadline Deadline
We want you to join us, but we have set a deadline of Sat. Apr 19 for all registrations to be in.
Here are a few guidelines for those who are registered:
Shoebox Cards: Make (currently) 22 setups and 3 complete cards (your sample and two for the organizers). Do not write on or in any of the cards. You may provide a written "recipe" for your card with paper colors, stamp sets, your name & contact info, if you wish.
At the event you will be given a small space on a table to set up a "stamping station." Then you will go around the room and make all the cards. Bring all of your supplies in a "shoebox" or other container. If you plan to use a heat gun for your design, please alert us ahead of time, to reserve a space near a power source.
We will make full cards, not just card fronts. No envelopes needed, unless your design is for anything other than 4.25 x 5.5" standard card. Bring several extras of your paper elements for stamping mistakes. Be sure to bring all supplies and tools. Paper must be cut to size, stamps, ink, punches, scissors and any special adhesives needed to successfully complete your card. Please take the time to cut your paper straightly and accurately.
Is is recommended that you individually bag the supplies needed for each individual card in small sandwich bags. This will help keep your station organized, and help people to restrain themselves to using only the elements designated for each individual card. It will also help you to protect every card you make during the day.
Everyone must bring your own standard adhesive (mono adhesive, glue stick, doublesided tape) Also bring your scissors, bone folder and any other supply you can't live without. Please label your supplies, many items look similar!
You might want to bring your camera to document any cards you cannot complete. If you want coffee, bring it along.
Prompt arrival is imperative. Since we will all be working on every card, we will want to start on time! Stamping starts as soon as we can get everyone set up. Doors open officially at 10:00. If you come early, we will put you to work! So feel free to come early!
I was just going to post something for March if no one else had anything going... This day works for me! I just moved from California in September, where I organized the NoCal gatherings, so let me know if you need/want anything!
One quick question... are the 34 completed cards for those shoe boxes you don't get to or for swapping?
Ok, one more (follow-up)... will there be card swapping... if so, how about 3x3s??
Thanks for organizing!

Sounds great. I use to live out that way before we moved to the boondocks (Oswego). My best friend is from Arlington Heights. I'm really interested and need to check my calendar. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. Should I pm you or post them here?
Hey Michelle....
Why the heck would you want to move from cali to cold icky Chicago??
The 34 cards are 30 for the group you don't make and 4 for the volunteers. You will go home (hopefully) with 60 complete cards. (I say hopefully cause I hope everyone will be able to finish all 30 cards).
I will add a note to the registration for anyone who might want to join a 3x3 swap. Great idea! Thanks.
Catherine
I am QUITE interested...Spring break, naturally have to check out that weekend....this would be my first one....besides tape and scissors and the shoebox to swap...what else would have to be brought?

You really only need your tape and scissors, but if you have something you really like to use you can bring it with. I participated in one of this large shoebox events about a year ago and I am trying to think of what I really wish I had. I can't for the life of me think of anything except maybe some tylenol (oh and chocolate).
Registrations are starting to arrive by mail, I'm so excited! Don't wait, we want to fill this day and have lots and lots of cards to make and bring home!
Wish I could go. Spring Break is that week and DH has already planned a trip for the family to go camping. (No showers, sleeping on the ground, cooking food the kids won't like...hopefully no coyotes this time.) ~ k

Sorry to hear you can't join us. I was looking at your blog and you do such good work. We will be doing this again so I hope you can join us the next time.
By the way I love, love, love 36. She sounds (and looks) exactly like out Maggie.
I am sure my partner in crime (dtollaksen) will post the confirmed registrations.
Also, I wanted everyone to know that we are having a contest for the best card sent with your registration. I know we have received 2 registrations already and there was no card so if you want to send a card separate that is ok. It is going to be a really great prize so everyone is going to want to join in.
Send in your registration forms now. We really want to limit this to 60 participants otherwise you will never be able to finish all cards.
If others are interested in a ATC I would love to have that as well!
Oh my I didn't see you are one of the dork sisters. Of course we need your group to join us. We had so much fun at the library for the last shoebox, I wouldn't think of doing one without the dorks.

The facility for this event is so lovely. A warm, carpeted room with nice tables: no flimsy plastic tables that make it hard to stamp. There are windows galore and the ladies room is right outside the stamping room. Plenty of parking and a sound system, so we can play great music. More later!

OSWEGO isn't in the boondocks anymore. I'm just down the road in Aurora.
Long time ago it was the boondocks, But you'd have to go to Earlville to be in the boondocks.
PS: I'll have to check my calender to see what's happening.
I just spoke to the caterer. He is such a cool guy! He is making a special "Ladies Menu" for us so we can eat and stamp and enjoy both. No gigantic messy sandwich--cute mini sandwiches, perfect for stampers on the go!
What would you like to receive as a door prize? Tell me your wish and it may come true! Everyone will go home with a lovely "parting gift" so it may as well be something you actually desire. Would it be a sampler of SU ribbon? A sampler of HodgePodge Hardware? A scrapbook kit? Accents & Elements? On Board Chipboard? Tell me what you love!
Ok I told you I would have questions and having an accounting an audit background, I tend to have a lot of questions so I will keep this to a minimum so as to not put such a burden on you or bore the other SCS.
"Shoe-box swaps are to be full cards." Does this mean all your supplies should be able to fit in a shoebox?
"Please bring 34 complete cards as well
as supplies for 30 people to make your card: cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, tools." Does this mean we should being 30 completed cards of the card the group intends to make or other 30 cards or just supplies for 30 cards?
Sorry for the interrogation but I want to make sure I understand the expectation.
"Shoebox" is a term we use to differentiate from "swap." A "shoebox" just means that you bring the paper, ink, stamps & embellishments, ready for each stamper to make your masterpiece. If the supplies fit in a shoebox, sweet, but you can use any container you wish. "Swap" means you bring completed cards and trade them for other completed cards.
We are hoping to have 60 ladies attend, and expect to need 4 people to work the event. So, you will bring supplies for 30 cards in your "shoebox," 30 completed cards to swap and 4 extra completed cards for the organizers. We prefer if all 64 cards ( 30 shoebox and 34 swap) be the same.
We are hoping to see a variety of cards, so if you're thinking of a Holiday Card or masculine birthday or sympathy or kids birthday -- go for it! With 60 cards we hope everyone gets a bit of every occasion.
Suddenly, everyone wants to get together! I have a few additions to the reservation list, but I wish it were more!
