Kathy...I'm glad you had an obvious great time seeing Chris Isaac last night but rubbin' it in really hurts! Somehow I missed the Wente Brothers mailing or I wouldn't be cryin' in my wine...
AND Lisa...girlfriend, you are too cruel!! My demo said our stuff would be delivered to her today ( I think), so I might be making all my stuff in a HOT, STUFFY house. Even with insulated windows kept shut (I hate that) and a couple fans going, it's just too darn hot!
OK...I'm just messin' with you gals. Have a great day in your a/c'd houses and don't worry about (sniff, sniff) little ole me.
For those of you participating in the full-card swap, please plan on making eleven (11) cards. The number may increase by one or two, and Kathy or I will let you know if that's the case.
Please refer to post #212 for specifics on the swap requirements.
Kim/Wysegirl - It's up to you whether you want to do more prep ahead of time if you think the project would take more than 25 minutes to complete if the other stampers do their own measuring and folding. You could just score it, too.
Wanted to remind everyone that electric outlets are available if anyone needs it for heat guns or what have you. I think it would be a good idea if everyone brings their own pair of scissors and favorite adhesive, too.
Aaack, it I get ink on this keyboard, my husband will have a hissy fit. I'm up to my elbows in color again today.

Kathy - I will need an outlet for the laptop to run the convention photos.
And I have two words for you.... BLACK KEYBOARD! LOL!
I'm just being LAZY, surfing SCS and waiting for Mr Brown to bring me my new goodies so I can start coming up with swap cards and ATC's!
Yesterday my computer got fried, something in there overheated and it just went out.
Now, my son (15 years old) has an old computer case that he'd removed the hard drive from, to put that into another computer..... Anyway, DH poked around then said DS could have at it. He took my hard drive out of my fried computer and put it in the old case and voila, I'm back. But my old keyboard also wasn't working, so I have a different one.
It has a black base, but the keys are still white.

Lisa, I will make sure the table for your slide show is near an outlet. Thanks for mentioning that.
Is everyone having fun stamping stuff to bring? It's like Christmas in July (the mad rush to make cards that is). It will be worth it, so slow and steady wins the race as they say. No panic attacks - but, if you feel one coming on, take two chocolate bars and call me in the morning.

Kathy...I think I need the chocolate bars now! Still trying to get my act together. My SU! demo said our orders were in and at her sister's house in Union City for pick up. Then I find out that her sister is out of town til next Friday!! I know, I know. Everyone deserves a vacation but what rotten luck. Lisa, did Mr. Brown arrive so you could play it cool in your a/c'd house? I hope so. Maybe by the time I get my stuff, it will be a bit cooler. Gonna grab a hot dog. Will check in with all you wonderful ladies later.
TTFN, Vicki

Hey! LOOK! A big box full of SU! stuff..... ooooooo.... pretty...... I got the new "Trading Collection" set, so at least the BACKS of my ATC's will look good......

Happy stamping!
Hi Christianne,
This will be my very first card swap, so I want to make sure I do everything I'm supposed to do. After looking at post #212 I still have some questions:
1) Do I need to put the *recipe* on the back of the card
2) Is "real" sewing (with sewing machine) allowd
3) Is there any other details I should know that weren't included in post #212
I'm getting more and more excited about August 5th everyday. Can't wait to meet all of you funny ladies!
Michelle - the card and atc swaps are pretty open to just about anything. Only requirements are at least two layers and at least one embellishment. But, by all means add more than that if you want to impress us with your skills and style. The sewing sounds like a great idea, I haven't done it on cards, but think it looks great. Go for it.
Many people would probably appreciate a recipe for your card. Here's an idea: type up the info and then copy it 12 times on one or two pages, then print it out and cut. You could then slip these recipes into your cards.
Crazycat, if the chocolate isn't working, try catnip. You'll be purring just fine as you paw over your new rubber. I'm jealous, my first order from the new cat will go in this Sunday and hope to get the stuff just one week before the Rendezvous.

Thank you, Kathy. I'm not sure at this point if I will include sewing on my swap cards, but I'm glad to know that it is an option. Thanks also for the handy tip for the card recipe.
I got my order today too! Mr Brown was greeted at my front door with his choice of an ice cold coke or bottled water! LOL!
My fingers are all Cool Caribbean blue from dyeing the Elizabeth (fiber) ribbon.... which I LOVE LOVE LOVE..... I mounted all my new RUBBAH and punched my punches and now I'm sleepy.... this heat just saps me.... Of course if I go to bed now, I'll be up at 5 STAMPING!!!! LOL!
You are soooo right about this heat! Too much. But you are so nice to offer Mr. Brown a drink choice. I actually want to know what he thought of that! My order should be here by mid-next week. Had many things jump from my wish list to my must have list post convention. If you get up at 5 to stamp, at least it won't be HOT. I'm sure I'll be doing that too, but not at least until a respectible 7:30. Can anyone say Mocha Light Frapaccino Venti?! Jennifer

My UPS guy is AWESOME! His wife is a Demo too, so he KNOWS how important those boxes are! Especially the first one after the new catalog! He chose the Coke, by the way... LOL!
Iced Venti Extra Ice Americano is my morning addiction.... basically 4 shots of espresso over ice. No sugar, no cream, just HARD CORE CAFFEINE!!!!
Hmmm, I don't care for iced coffee drinks, so if it's too hot, I just get a grande strawberry banana frappuccino. Otherwise it's a grande white chocolate mocha non-fat, no-whipped.

Oh, Lisa...you're killin' me here. I WANT MY SU! STUFF! I didn't even think about the TC set. Don't know why I didn't order them. Oh yeah, my order was becoming a tsunami, so I sized down to smaller tidal wave. I'm working on my swaps-at least in my head. BTW, I really was having some wine earlier. I had to get away from the computer; too hot in my non-a/c'd house. So I took a very cold glass of chardonnay out to the patio and watched the stars come out. Aaahhhh....

Panic attacks? I've got my shoebox done, thanks to a work session with Kathy O., and got my idea for my card swap. I even got all the CS cut and ready to stamp and assemble. Then I woke up at 5:00 this morning in a panic because I wasn't sure I had enough eyelets in the right color! I don't even think my Venti Mocha Frap no whip will help me right now. Still working on my door prize. Name tag? How about a sticky with "Hello, my name is..."? I keep repeating,"I think I can, I think I can... I know I can, I know I can" from the Little Engine That Could.

Ooooo, I like that sticky nametag idea ~ with a little stamping on it, right ;)? Too cute! What color eyelets are you in need of as I've got lots of SU! eyelets that I rarely use. If I have what you need I'd be happy to send you some in todays mail, and then maybe that Venti Mocha Frap will help you to simmer down a bit ;).
Don't sweat the small stuff - it's all small (except for this HEAT - and that you can't help but sweat). If something seems big to you, break it down into the small steps and you will reach your goal.
This reminds me of a hike I did with my husband and sister in New Zealand about twelve years ago. It was a four day hike in the beautiful fiordland area on the south island (the Milford Track). There were guides and cabins we slept in along the way and they did all the cooking for us, too. So, we only had to carry our change of clothes. Well on the last day, I didn't feel well. Went to get breakfast and just the smell of cooking made me sick so no breakfast. Thirteen miles to walk and I couldn't eat. Luckily, it was mostly flat walking, just a bit of downhill at the very beginning. It was raining lightly. I had a fever (which when I reached the end I found out was 102). Miserable, to say the least. I would have paid big bucks to have a helicopter come pick me up. We were in a very remote area with no roads, so the only way out was to walk. The guide told me about half way, they could take me about 5 miles on a boat down a river, so I would only have to walk 8 miles total. I couldn't tell myself I couldn't do it. So, my total focus was keeping my head down and telling myself, "just make it to that next bend", "just walk twenty feet and then rest a bit". So, that is my lesson on taking small steps to reach a long goal.
Here's a link to the Milford Track, which they call the "Most Beautiful Walk in the World": http://www.milfordtrack.net/

Jill! - A sticky with your name on it and a single stamp is okay.... but, it won't win a prize I'll bet. Everyone will vote on their favorite nametag. Prize for the winner.
Think about adding some stuff that tells a little about you. For instance, I love playing Scrabble and I have these little Scrabble letter tile stickers that I will use for my name and username. I'm thinking of a collage of little things, it may not be pretty, but it will express a bit of me. Pretty works, too, I love pretty! I went back and forth trying to decide.
Today is the St. Louis Stampede Get Together. I'll be stalking their thread and gallery in the next few days to see how it went.

Oh, Jill, if you need a certain color eyelet, try inking the eylet with a craft or pigment ink in the color you want, then add clear embossing powder and set with a heat gun (or set it out on your patio, that will probably melt the ep, too! ugh).

Wow, Kathy, thats a great idea! I'll need to try that with brads too - and maybe even paperclips, etc.. Still have so much to learn, and am so glad I have all of you wonderful ladies to teach me !
Yes, I've done the color change on brads, too. I have some metalic inks that cover well without embossing. Very convenient. You could also dab a bit of glue or better yet, Crystal Effects on the brad and add glitter.
Michelle, your gallery is awesome, I can learn a lot from you!

Oh, do I have to stamp on it? JK. I've got some ideas, but saving this project until last. Thanks so much for your kind offer, Michelle, but after all that fretting, I got out of bed and immediately checked my supply and I have plenty of the right color. So that Mocha Frap should definitely do the trick. Too bad I don't want to brave the heat to get one. My thermometer says it's 114 degrees outside! I really hope it starts to cool down soon.

Aawww....Thanks Kathy. What you see in my gallery is all thanks to many talented ladies on this site, where I continually get SO much inspiration from. The only problem is that I now find it very hard to make a *simple* card. I'm always wanting to add more and more.
I have to share a recent funny story about my attempt to change the color of some cute little heart brads I have. They're pewter color and I wanted them to be more of brown or antiqued color, so I broke out my craft spots and thought I could just coat the brads with craft ink and let them dry over night. Well, I learned the next morning when the ink came off onto my fingers that this was not the correct way to change the color. So, thank you for teaching me the correct way, which I'll have to put to use soon.

YIKES, Jill!! 114 degrees?? I hope you're inside enjoying some AC and stamping! Glad to know that you're all set on your eyelets.
Oh man all this talk about coffee drinks is making me want to be super nice and bring my blender and make some yummy iced blended drinks (peet's calls them freddos instead of the fraps).... hehe oh its good to know the recipes for making those delicious drinks....
Anyways, the real reason I am posting is that I will be putting in an order on Monday around 1130ish, so if anyone realizes they need a few more brads, ribbon, or something small like that let me know if you would like me to add it to the order...
Elizabeth is a pro at coffee drinks ladies - she was a barista at Peet's Coffee. But, no Elizabeth - the only work you will be doing at the party will be stamping! If you need a fix, there is a deli inside the community center (rear building) that has coffee drinks or bring one (I will provide a cooler with water and some soft drinks though).

It was 112 here yesterday. We are headed for 110 today. When I went to 'Bux this morning it was already 86 degrees out at 8:45... bleh bleh bleh. It was 103 after I ran my errands and came home around 12:30. The A/C is running and I'm sitting here with all the shades closed and lights off, trying to stay cool. I got one of those alcoholic slushie buckets at linens n things.... tonight I will have Mojito Slushies!!!!!! <HIC!>
We have to head to Santa Cruz shortly to bring DD and a couple others back from band leadership camp. I keep thinking we should have gone down Sat. morning with the group and stayed overnight there. LOL Except probably everything was full ....
This heat can LEAVE ANY TIME.
If anybody doesn't have a/c, I feel for them.
Oh and we had stinky air last night - I opened up around 2 a.m. for a few hours but there had been a small fire not too far away (Jill, you know that horse place at Calaveras and Piedmont? It was apparently on the other side of that hill!) Scorched about 150 acres. Scary - about a mile and a half away!

Yeah, S'Cruz would have been a good place to go. We're thinking SF later in the week. It was still 90 degrees here at 10:00 last night. It's the first time I've been able to swim in our pool at night. Usually it's too cold with the wind we get. Mixed blessing, I guess. It's currently 115 degrees (down from 117) and there are some REALLY dark clouds coming our way. I know we don't usually get thunderstorms, but any chance one could be coming and it will cool things down?
Too bad about the fire. I'm not surprised with this heat. Glad to hear the horses are okay. :-)
Ooooh, Lisa, Mojito's sound good. I have some of those Margaritas in a bucket. Guess I should wait until the official "Happy Hour", though. Don't want to give anyone the wrong impression. ;-)

I don't know how much it will cool things down (clouds are like a blanket, they help keep the heat IN), but there goes our "DRY HEAT"! LOL!

As Allan Jackson says, "It's 5:00 SOMEWHERE"....... ooo! It's even 5:00 HERE! WOO HOO!!!!!!
It took an hour and a half to get to Santa Cruz, usually 45 minutes. Traffic was poking at 20 mph at times. We avoided the 880 lane closures by taking 680/280 around. But 17 was nasty. Several cars pulled over with hoods up. On the way home, we saw one "turn out" area, in the other direction, with a fire truck just putting its hose away, and a burnt up truck there!! Wow.
AND, when we got within view, we could see the hill just above the horses all blackened. It wasn't just on the back side!!!! There's the house on top of the hill, surrounded by blackened stuff. Just incredible. Now I know why they were so aggressively going after it - I think I read 8 firetrucks, two helicopters and an airplane!!!
