Janet, a shoebox swap is where you design a project for everyone to make, you bring all the supplies in a shoebox (or any box really) and each person gets to make one of yours and you get to make one of their's. So if 10 people are attending, you make 10 projects (including your own). You make one as a sample, include directions and all tools needed for your project.

I'm sorry for your loss. It is a very nice cemetery. I hope we have a good time. There may not be many Augusta SCS'ers who check this forum. I wonder how to get their attention???

Carol -- do they still have the 'iwanna' paper there? I think its free to advertise. Also, print off fliers, leave them at walmart on the bulletin boards and take them with you to spark interest. I'd keep it email for that kind of thing or the weirdo's in augusta will haunt you (j/k). Did they ever finish the BJ expressway project? (up toward Martinez in evans) and did they ever do the parkway toward savannah (or is that still a pipe dream?)
Yeah, they do have the iwanna paper. I tried for a meetup group through meetup.com that did not work.
They are STILL working ont he BJ expressway to martinez. The parkway to Savannah is supposedly going to happen but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

Hi, Carol. I'm not seasoned enough to do the shoe box swap...heck it takes me three days to make a card! I do live in Augusta, GA, though...was born and raised here...refuse to live anywhere else!
I'm learning a little more every day so maybe a swap is in my near future? It sounds like fun and I'd love to meet someone that shares my newfound love of paper crafting.
There is a great little stamp store in Lincolnton called the Stamp Studio. Melissa is the owner. Look her up online. If you wanted to go to her monthly stamp club, you are more than welcome. I drive and it is a ways so it is great to car pool. About 1 hour from Augusta. I live off Wheeless. Let me know if you are interested in gong. Also, I've been trying to get a group of stampers together to stamp for a while. Let me know if you are interested. I have a couple more people that would come.

Hi Carol!
Thanks for the info on the shoebox swap. I am totally interested in coming to one, Augusta isn't that far, maybe 2 hours .... which is nothing if traveling with a good friend. But May is to busy for me. Keep in touch, I'd love to make the next one!

Tee hee  They will never finish it..... its' all talk!
Augusta is hopping this week!! I was down there last year for the practice rounds and found a nice little scrapbook store with great golf papers and embellishments.
Good luck getting a SBS together. They are so much fun.
Carol,
I've never done an SBS but I might be interested in driving your way. I live down in Valdosta, but have been to Augusta twice already in less than a 9 months. Please keep me posted on this...
Thanks,

Okay, I have changed the date from May to June. In this area it will mean kids out of school but so will the school teachers be. If we need to plan for child care we can, let me know. I have a responsible teen and I could get a couple more. The child care would be onsite so no need to drop kiddos off anywhere. Also, small babies are welcome.
Augusta GA June 23 OR 24 OR 25th. I would like to do it on a day that the most people can be there. Please respond with a date you could attend.
I have not chosen a venue, I need to know how many people will be coming. The cost will be minimal, only for food (or we could do a potluck type thing where everyone brings something and there is no cost). Let me know which you prefer. I am happy to cook for everyone and provide a meal at little cost if that is just easier for those comeing from far away.
So let me know preferences for date and food options. I will take it from there.

I'm really new at the whole paper crafting thing. I can't imagine packing everything needed to make a card. If you could see my scrap room after I do one card you'd understand what I'm talking about. I could be reading up on how to do things and practice. I don't know anyone that shares my interests and it would be fun to hang out. Any date is fine with me especially in June. Do you go to any of the crops or classes at the lss's here in the area? Maybe I can learn how to design cards on go if I went to a few classes OR you can email me back and forth and coach me. I'd be more than willing to help you get things set up when you choose a location.
I may just have to plan a visit home. I haven't been home in a year June would be a 1 1/2 years after my sister's death. DH will be traveling OCONUS to Afganastan so take the 14 year old (also a good co-baby sitter) and come down for a few days. Sounds like a good 'excuse'. I love the Best Western off I20 in Grovetown (I think that is still grovetown). The accomidations are nice at a reasonable price.
I live in South Augusta near Goshen subdivision. I've lived out here for thirty years. I love it over here. We used to look at houses on the other side of town but I hated the traffic...everyone seems to be in a hurry. Yes, all the nicer stuff is on the other side of town but it's just not home. I raised four boys here. They went all the way through school with their friends and graduated with them. That means so much to me. Now THEY live on the other side of town and I have to "beg" them to come visit me. Go figure.
I hope you get to visit. I've never done a stamping swap but they sound like fun. I look forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
Have you set an absolute date yet? Just curious. Need to come down and visit family and if the SBS doesn't interfer with youngest DS camp would love to come. I would also need to coordinate with ex-dh so Chad can stay with him some of the trip. Would love to do 5 days. Traveling down and back in 48 hours is no fun. Its 585 miles from my front door to my mothers in south augusta (off windsor spring road). It takes from 9 to 14 hours to drive it.
No promices. OCONUS travel for hubby has been pushed back to July. I just want him there and home safe and sound! :-)
Okay, no one said which date they would prefer, so I am going to go ahead with plans and see if anyone is interested.
I choose Thursday, June 25th. If no one can come that day, I would be happy to change the date. I am going to start making plans for the 25th. The day will start at 11:30 with lunch while people straggle in. Then we will start at 12:30 with projects and finish when it is over. This should get us out by 4 PM so that those of you who are driving home will make it before dark.
Here are the guidelines.
Plan a card, 6x6 scrapbook page, or 3D item. Make one as a sample and provide all the tools and supplies for each member to make one. Right now it looks like maybe 5-8 participants (probably the lower end). This does NOT have to be an all-SU project. Please use some form of embellishment. Add some bling besides glitter or narrow ribbon. Please bring your own scissors and adhesive, both mono and glue dots. If your project requires sticky strip, please provide this, as not everyone may have some to bring.
Please let me know what of the following you want to bring:
chips
drinks
plasticware
rolls
ice
plates and cups
I will provide lunchmeat, cheese, and some kind of savory salad (potato and/or pasta) and jello salad.
I am really excited about this and look forward to hearing back from anyone who wants to come. Also, feel free to bring a friend, even if they are not on SCS. Just RSVP for whoever is coming with you.
