Am thinking of possibly hosting a Shoebox Swap in the future. I live just outside Clinton, Iowa, which is on the Mississippi River, about 30 minutes from the Quad Cities, an hour from Dubuque, about 80 minutes from Cedar Rapids, about 45 minutes from Sterling, IL.
My church has a very nice, large hall, with lots of 8' tables. I would like to spread things out so there are only 2 kits per table, with 6-8 chairs. That way, the slower people could stay put and finish, while the speedier ladies could move from station to station without having to wait.
Anyway, I am wondering how many ladies would be willing to come here for a Saturday swap? My church also charges a little more for rental than some of the swaps I've attended, so I might have to charge a little more - maybe $15 per person. I would try to follow Crystal & DebW's format/guidelines.
Please post here if you would be interested in coming to a swap in the Clinton area.
You betcha I will be there with bells on! Just let me know maybe we can get a hotel the night before! Woohoo! Use the email list to get this out to everyone.
Just let us know and the price is not an issue.

I just found this information... and Yes! I would definitely be interested if the date worked for me. I live in Sterling, IL... so this would be much closer for me than the others I've attended. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
I had forgotten about the email list. I will see if I have time to put them all on the computer this weekend. But feel free to spread the word.
Jeanette - I forgot you are in IL. You were supposed to be at the Falling Leaves Crop, weren't you? I think your table was right with Rhonda, Sherry & I. We missed you.
Have a great day, all!! and a great weekend!! Is anyone excited for more snow??:( I'm NOT!!

Hi Kathy! Yes, I was registered at the Falling Leaves Crop, but our DD in Mississippi in college was/is having serious back problems so I had to be with her that week... and missed the fun. Are you going to their next one? I'm not, regretfully.
It's great that you are thinking of doing a swap. Clinton isn't too far for me, it's about a hour and fifteen minutes. However, I know just about any date would be bad for me personally. Once baseball season starts up in April we are busy practically every weekend until July. Then, the weekends we do have off I spend in my yard and garden. Good luck!

We were all signed up for it, and then found out it is the same weekend as a scrap retreat we go to twice a year in near Floyd, IA (near Osage & Charles City). Rhonda's SIL is a CM consultant. Anyway, we had to drop out of the Sterling one - but last one was soo much fun. Though next time we plan to stay at the hotel across the street, as we weren't overly impressed with the Holiday Inn. Sort of scuzzy, IMHO.
Shelley - Sorry you might not be able to make it. My 3 girls all used to play softball, and seemed like our entire summer was dictated by games.
Hope4 you all have a great weekend - Happy Valentine's Day!!

I totally agree about the Holiday Inn... not much! The Country Inn & Suites is much newer and very nice. We stayed there a few nights 8 years ago when we were in the process of moving here. Very comfortable at that time... I suppose it still is.
Currently the only 2 available dates for the spring are March 28 and April 25. I can't even look at summer right now. Anyway, I know that March 21st is Carrie's Swap, and I don't want to step on toes. I am just letting you know what days are available right now.
Looking for feedback so we can begin to actually plan a swap. Either of these dates work for you?
I did send out an email with a list from Crystal. You can respond that way, too.
I loved Deb's shoebox swap in Muscatine & would have loved to get to Crystal's if the dates had worked. My group & I have been looking for something similar close by, and Clinton fits the bill. I'll be watching this site for more information. There are 6 girls in my local stamp group & I know after Deb's there was lots of interest from all of them. A Saturday works great for me if the date works. Now to check my calendar!!!!
