No, I didn't attend the event in Holland in April as I was out of town. How was it? Where is Lake Odessa? I'm originally from Wisconsin, so I'm not too familiar with the areas around GR. We should definately try to get something together. It will be a few months for me though. I'm scheduled to have a C-Section on the 28th of this month, and then will be recovering, but I'm definately interested in getting with my fellow stampers.

I don't live in Western MI... but I live in the metro detroit area n MI. If there was something planned, I'm not above driving to find other stampers. I have a few friends in the Lansing area that I meet up with on occasion.
This is my second child, my first was also a c-section. If I can do vbac, they will let me try and if not, well, another surgery for me. 3 weeks from tomorrow is the big day. So much to do, so little time.
Ladies, I would defintately say, later on after I've recovered from my c-section and what not we should try and pull something together. However, I would consider myself a newbie when it comes to get togethers such as this, so I don't really know what we would plan. Scrapbook, swaps, I have no idea, any ideas would be welcomed!!!!!

I think we should really try to plan something!!!! Let us know when you are feeling up to getting out and stamping... I'm sure between the section and a new baby in the house, you'll be quite busy for some time!
I've never planned anything like this either... I think the where is a much bigger question than the what. Since I don't really live out that way, I can't help much on the where part. Any ideas?? Suggestions???
Other informal get togethers that I've been to have been fun. Sometimes we just play... but I like it best when everyone brings a project (card or page) for everyone to do. Kind of a cross between a swap and a stamp camp. Otherwise, we could just have a swap and meet for dinner??? I'm just throwin' stuff out there.

Oh my gosh... you are right around the corner!! (Well probably not literally... but close enough!) We should definately get together sometime!!!
12 mile and John R. We should. I would be willing to get to gether will the others girls also. we could all have a project to share with one another. what do you think?
I am in W. MI too. My niece used to live in Lake O. but now lives near me and is a stamper also. I bet there are threads right here on SCS with ideas for get-togethers. I have a friend who has rented the all purpose room at a local hotel for scrapbooking nights with her sisters, just an idea. Good luck with the delivery of the new baby and keep me posted if something is planned for a stampin' get together
I'm in the middle of the state and a bit north of most of you's. But, I don't mind road trips (heck, if I can drive to Chicago for a weekend, anywhere in Michigan is a piece of cake!!...lol) I would love to meet some fellow stampers, so keep me in mind IF a get together should formalize!! This definately sounds like fun!

I'm at 9 1/2 and Dequindre! So cool!
I think if something was formally planned we might get a few takers. Most people are in the Western part of the state though... so it would have to be a little closer out that way. Is there anything that seems resonable to everyone??? I could check on finding a place... but I don't know that we'd want to spend a lot of money on that (need to keep all the money we can for buying new stamps!!!) Does anyone know of a church, hotel, or community center that might be available??? Ther is a small clubhouse at my park... but I live pretty far from everyone.
OK, had to jump in here. We can meet at my place. Tracy is one of my downlines so she knows the size of my basement. i can hold 12 very comfortable and more if someone has more tables. I don't live on the western side of the state, but I am 13 miles north of Howell.
Anyway, I am up for hosting if anyone is interested in driving out this way.

Are you serious?? I'd drive a couple of hours to spend the day stamping!!...lol OHHH, this could be fun!!
Yes, I am serious. If people are interested we would have to find a date that works for most. I have posted some pictures to my gallery of my craft room. I just posted a few new ones that got lost when they did the site change. I am still learning how to add things in post etc. so you can just go to my gallery: joosterhse. A few of the pictures may not be up yet. I will try to post a few at the bottom of this post.
Right nw my schedule is pretty flexible (unemployed). So unlesssomething changes I can meet whenever. I know some are going to convention... so maybe after convention??? Thoughts?

I am pretty flexible too. I don't have children, but I am a teacher. I only work part time M and F and alternated W, so I am free on Mondays and Thursdays and alternate Wednesdays. Weekends work for me too, but I do get booked with workshops since SU is my other job. ;-)
I am having surgery in November so will be out for at least a month to 6 weeks.
Let's see how many others are interested and we can set up the best time for most. I am going to convention and will be home the end of July. August, Sept or Oct. would work, input anyone?

November is bad for me too. I have Thanksgiving Dinner at my house. I feed about 80 family members. SO, between, invites, decorating the house, cooking and working outside the home, I don't have time to even think....let alone add another event!!...lol I'd have to pass IF we do it in November. Sorry!
Good Luck with your surgery. HOPE its just routine and you'll be up and running in no time at all.
I'm not that far from Howell, so I'll let the others that are driving farther, decide when its best for them!
I get waaaaay too excited when it comes to a stamp get together! I always try to make it as soon as possible!! What is good for everyone?? Mid to late august??? Or September???
Those in the Warren/Madison Heights area... are you interested in this?? I know its a drive, but I've been to Jennie's several times . We could car pool. I'd be willing to drive.

Tracy,
I'm with you.....the sooner the better (heeheehee), but, I'll go with what works best for everyone else.
How far are you from Westland?? I'm down in Westland often (In-Laws live there) I take 96 to 275 and down. I know I can get to Warren from 96 to 696, right?
I'm not 100% sure where Westland is. I think its downriver somewhere which would make it about 1/2 hour 45 minutes away. I did my student teaching in Trenton... I took 75 South all the way down. I live right near the 75/696 interchange, if that helps any.
I have a few questions, where is Howell from Holland? What kind of drive am I looking at? I'm not opposed to driving at all. My vote would be for September, middle to late. And, I hope you wouldn't mind if I brought my 1 1/2-2 month old!!! I would love to get together, stamp, share ideas, hear about convention some more. Let me know.
Tracy
2 1/2 weeks until Baby Day!!!!!

Hi! I just saw this post, don't know how I missed it before. I'm in Kalamazoo, but have family in Wyandotte. How close is that in relation to you? I'm not too great at directions, but dh is.
OK, I will say that I am not in the western side of the state. I know this was started by someone on the western side of the state and I don't want to make everyone come out my way. I just thought I would offer because I have the space and it would not cost anything, except gas which now might be more than renting a space.
Anyway, I am not great at where things are, I have only lived in Michigan for 4 years. I am in the southern part of the state towards the middle. I live about 30 miles N or Ann Arbor, 30 miles S of Flint, 30 miles E of Lansing and 40 miles W of the Detroit area. I was in Holland for the seminar this April and it took me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Very easy drive. I am off of I-96 or US-23.
If people are interested we could do it in August or late September. I am a bit crazy with the start of school and we are also going to AZ for a wedding over Labor Day. Are most people interested in a week day or a weekend? I am open for either, but if it is in Sept. and we do a weekday, it would have to be a Monday or Thursday.

Tracy...
I don't mind you bringing your little one provided I get some cuddle time with him/her!!....lol

From Kalamazoo to Wyandotte (which I believe is South of Detroit), you would go past Ann Arbor (if you took 94 across the state) and according to my mileage map, K'zoo is 90 miles to Ann Arbor! Howell is about 30 miles north of Ann Arbor. I bet with all expressway, you could be in Howell in about 2 hours or less??

If Tracy is willing to drive across state, then late September seems to work best for the two of you. (OMG, Sept won't get here fast enough....lol)
I guess next would be to determine, weekday or weekend??
As for weekend or weekday... I guess I prefer weekend.
I am still holding out hope for a teaching job in the fall... which would make weekdays difficult... but evenings okay. If I don't end up teaching, I can work around things.
Also... we have 2 Tracys here... just to help keep things straight.
Hey Ladies, if you still have room, I'd love to "invite" myself. I live in Lansing. Not far from any of you. Jennie, your scrapping/stamping room is beautiful, not sure we'll ever want to leave once we get there (LOL). If you need me to help w/ anything, let me know. I hope you still have room. Lela
Tracy P. where are you looking for a teaching job? I work for Detroit, but keep getting laid off so I have been looking around and have a few interviews. Are you looking public, charter, certain school districts?
