Um, I don't know if you would consider this close, but I am going to be in Alexandria VA in about a month . . . I hope there are lots of stampers in the D.C. area!

Thanks for the replies! I am originally from Arkansas, but lived in Oklahoma for the past 5 years. I will be living here for about a year, and then hopefully moving back to Arkansas to be near family. I really want Zach to grow up feeling close to his grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. My husband is doing extra training for a year at Walter Reed but he isn't military. I quit my job to come with him, and am most likely gonna be a SAHM. I just signed up as a hobby demo so I could get the discount, mainly due to the serious budget cut since I quit work. I'm not planning to try to do this as a business, since by the time I could really get established, we'll be moving AGAIN.
Thanks for replying. Do you host stamp camps or anything? How far is Annapolis from Silver Spring? Never mind...I just checked mapquest...55 minutes. I looked up Eldersburg too. It's nice to know there are nice people nearby.

I'm in the area (north of Germantown) but I'll probably be moving in less than six months. I do a semi-monthly workshop, usually techniques and cards or scrapbook pages, but I'm mostly a hobbyist, too. I know there are a couple active demonstrators near you - I'm sure they'll jump out and say hi :-)

YUP! I am holding a winter scrapbooking one in a few weeks and a holiday stamp a stack as well. Although it says 55 minutes, it may be closer depending on traffic. I used to teach in Chevy Chase and loved for a bit in Takoma Park. There is a lot do to in MD and in SS you are so close to teh metro to hop on and head to DC!

Hi, I'm in Northern Virginia, which could be a 30 minute drive or a 120 minute drive depending upon if: 1. it snows, 2. it rains, 3 it's cloudy, 4. one person in West Virginia has a flat tire, etc!! LOL (actually, this isn't far from the truth...) Welcome to the area!

Carpooling sounds great!! When is the scrapbooking party? Hopefully not this weekend. My DH and I are in Arkansas visiting family and he's interviewing for his next job (for about 10 months from now). We got here Saturday and will be returning on Sunday the 9th. We are close to the metro station, just off Eastern in an apartment complex. Is that close to where you are? I don't know most of SS very well, but I have learned the area immediately surrounding our apartment well, since Zach and I walk a lot. I look forward to meeting you!
Sounds like plenty of us...I'll have to hostess a party soon...unless everyone's a demo already (I'm not...I just try my best to keep Britta gainfully employed)...We have the new girl in Silver Spring, one of my sister's stamping friend just moved down here from Maine, and I just found out one of my friends is completely crafty...has to be on Sunday for me. If everyone's a demo but me and my friends...I'll just have to have a stamping social...we can do a pre-made swap and wine and light appetizers. What do you think?

I just moved to the Baltimore area at the end of June and became a demo at the end of Aug. (mainly just as a hobby). I would to hear more info on any get togethers. I miss stampin with groups. I also have a friend in the Silver Springs area who just became a demo also. Keep me posted.
I just left the Silver Spring Area and moved to WY. I left a lot of good friends that craft. IM me if you would like for more info. What are in SS are you living in. I was really in the Wheaton Area even though everyone referes to it as Silver Spring.
Wow! There are a lot of stampers in this area! Thanks for replying, everyone! I haven't checked this thread in a few days, since we are travelling. I was surprised by all the activity here. Kristen, a stamping day sounds like tons of fun! We could make it pot luck. I signed up as a hobby demo when the July/Aug special was announced. I'm not planning to make this a business, though. I have never actually been to a SU workshop, and I have no clue how I would actually do one. Haven't watched the SU video about it either, too busy since the move. I would love to host something too, but at the moment my apartment is total chaos.
Hi, I'm Christi Jo and I'm in Southern Maryland. If you're looking to hook up with a bunch of demos, there's a retreat every year called Stampin Out Cabin Fever!!! The next one is scheduled for March 17-19, 2006. A whole weekend of SU Demonstrator only stamping!!! If you want more information shoot me an email. We're always looking for new retreaters to join us!!! 2006 will be the fourth retreat!!!
Looking forward to hearing for you!!!

HA!!! Anyone who lives here knows that's true. I'm right next to Annandale, in Burke. Just 2 miles from the beltway, near Malfunction Junction (the Mixing Bowl). Hi everyone!

LOL....I have actually heard that term "the Mixing Bowl"! I moved to MD 9 months ago, but I am one of the "unfortunate many" who has to battle traffic from MD to Va daily! I live in Bowie (just moved here two months ago) and work in Springfield, VA! Would love to meet anyone who lives in No. Va or MD!!
Howdy everyone, I finally made it to the area, I have already PM'd Joan B. Do I sense a get together in our future? I wouldn't mind planning something in the spring time.

Sorry for the delay..I haven't checked here in a while. I would love to meet you! I am a demo, but only a hobby demo. I have met a few other really nice stampers through this thread.

I live right next to Springfield, near Rolling Road. I'd love to get this group together to stamp one of these days. Definitely after the holidays though. Is anyone going to Leadership in Memphis this January?
I'm a new SU Demo from Southern MD - Lexington Park. I'm so new that I just got my starter kit last week. But I'd like to connect with other stampers and scrappers to share ideas.
Oh, and I'm originally from Texas so driving 2 hours to get somewhere won't even phase me.

I grew up in Lexington Park .... moved away after I got married. Hated living there b/c there was absolutely nothing to do. My folks moved away several years ago but, I have friends there now and get back to visit occasionally - the place changes everytime I get up there. I have a friend up there that is a CM consultant and she's really creative and full of ideas! My sister lives in Annapolis, MD.
I see by your profile info that your location is "where the Navy sends us." Well, Pax is where the Navy has currently sent us. We have about 2 years to go here and it changes day by day of what my husband wants to do next. So who knows where our next stop will be.
Part of the reason I joined SU was a way to get out and meet people. Hopefully I'll make some connections while I'm here and have some great friends along the way.
Becky,
I hope you enjoy your time in MD - I know alot of people that have moved there and absolutely love it. Like I said growing up, I hated it. We are in Va Beach now and I love it. I'm not sure I want to stay here though but, the thought of moving .... well, you know how that goes! We have been here 15 years! My husband has been in the Navy for 22 so, we are starting to think about where we want to live when we grow up (I'm pushing for someplace a little further south).
Good luck in LP City and I'm sure you will meet lots or creative people!
