Wow, thinking back to my first SU! party brings back many memories. I invited myself to this party. LOL My grandma of all people was invite so I tagged along. Grandma bought nothing and I think I spent over $100. Back then, maybe 1993, they didn't have exclusive SU! sets. The catalog was a mod podge of different companies. It was October, just weeks before my dd's 5th birthday. She loved dalmations so I bought DJ Inkers dalmation dog and a background stamp set. It was like the itty bitty set, only in foam. Oh and a stamp for the inside that had something like It's a Party and all the info. That one was by Posh Impressions. Besides those I bought Top Boss embossing pad, black and clear embossing powder and several markers. I still have those stamps and think I always will. They hold alot of sentimental value. My dd will be 19 in Nov.
So, who's up for making a card with our 'first' set???
Mine was a letter set that was shaped like balloons. I had never been to a party, but wanted to order to help my sister-in-law since I couldn't attend hers. I ordered this set to make birthday party invitations for my daughter's birthday party. I had no idea about the stamps and luckily the consultant put them together for me as well or they never would have been used. I booked my own party and finally got to see what stamping was all about! That was 10 years ago and probably 100 + stamp sets later!
My first stamp set was Girl Power...my oldest dd was in her first year of Brownies, I was the cookie mom and thought I'd make little tags for their incentives. I bought everything to case the card in the catalog--I got rave reviews for the card and decided that I could be an "artist". I still have the set and will probably use it for the next 10 years!

I think my first set was "Happy Winter"
I went to a workshop and we made a cute little Christmas card and I was hooked......ordered everything I needed to make them and the rest is history!
Just noticed that recently Kittie has been making some REALLY cute cards with this set!! I may have to get it out, blow the dust off and use it this year!!

My first purchase with SU was to make christmas cards...I bought "A Beautiful Season" close to cocoa ink, and winter white EP, I used storebought cards and envies, and my SBing chalks! they weren't bad cards, just a bit plainish these were lg. cards so the image was abit lost. other than that the EP and the chalks looked great. I went to 2 more stamp camps ans then signed up to be a demo!
You know, maybe I will make a card with the one of my first SU stamps. I don't think I ever used it. I just recently pulled out a stamp I have had for about 4 yrs and stamped with it. I had forgotten I even had it, lol.

My first set was Fun Filled and I bought it in January of this year! I got the kit they sold int he last catty with it in it.
My sis was having a party and neither of us were stampers and I told her that it sounded like the stupidest thing ever and that I was not creative at all and would only come to make her snacks for her and keep her company! That first party was over $1,000.00 and there were only 7 people there! Needless to say, I was addicted right away and seeing all the free stuff my sis got I had to have a party, too and got almost $200.00 worth of free stuff and it was Sellabration time so I got all those sets and had so much fun! By my party, since it was our 2nd party (for our little group of friends) everyone was really addicted and had to have all the stuff they didn't get at the 1st party so I really lucked out ;)
Back then, SU! only published their minicatalogue material online. I had seen a pub in a crafts magazine and went to check their website out. Instantly fell in love with that set! I especially loved the girl on the scooter and the Eiffel tower. I contacted a demo and bought this set, along with one or two others that were on the retiring list (All Aboard is one of them - my Dad worked for a train company, so I *needed* this one).
My very first SU purchase was the old pastels in the plastic artist palette, the Basic Black pad & the "We've Moved Birdhouse" stamp. My second purchase was my kit! That was over 7 years ago!

For me it wasn't a stamp it was the waterfall card and all the paper cutting!
The first set I had to have was Kanji! I also bought an inexpensive xmas stamp to make waterfall cards for Christmas. This was in Sept 2005. After making all those cards I went into stamping frenzy and was spending tons of money each month! I thought of becoming a hobby demo for the discount, but one of these days my wish list has to be under $300 then what do I do! Of course my DH is telling me I am running out of room for stamps.
