My very first set was Snow Globe - I got hooked on Stampin' Up around Christmas time and just fell in love with this set. I used it a lot that year for my Christmas cards, and then never touched it again! I ended up selling it this year with some of my other retired sets. I still think it's so cute though - and my best friend is the one who bought it from me, so I guess I can always borrow it back from her!
I was hooked at the first workshop I attended. We used Watergarden ll. I loved it, ordered it, and signed on as a demo one month later. I was so sad when it was retired. I just loaned it out to one of my best friends so it would not feel rejected;) .
My first set was Pines. I saw an project in Papercrafts magazine using that set. I had to go on the 'Net to track down a demo. She was nice enough to mount the set for me, I was clueless about SU before that.
Mine was Brides & Babies. I bought it back in 1999 for my DS's baby announcement. It didn't make it in time! It took me three weeks to get my order, but I still stuck with SU anyway.
My first set was Frosty. Made my Christmas cards that first year. And lately, I've seen some great cards with him that I'm using him again for my cards this year. Good ol' Frosty.

I went to my first party this year...February or march. I bought Favorite teddy bear and seaside sketches and received a SAB for free!! (Do you remember that promo, spend $75 you get a free SAB set...I chose Best blossoms). Now I am totally addicted and love it!
Mine was "A Merry Season". I was invited to my first SU party in September 2001 and I bought that set and the Bold Brights markers to make my first Christmas cards.

My first set was Button Bear. I bought him at the first stamping get-together I ever attended, and I still have him! That was in 1996, but I didn't really start stamping until a few years ago, when my daughter got too busy with her kids and horses to stamp, and brought all her 'stuff' to my house. I've probably quadrupled her stash since then! I stopped counting my sets at around 100! I've never sold any of them until this year, when I let two of them go.

My first set 9 years ago was Button Bear. It is no longer my style, but I still have it. Just recently (in the last 6 months) I get this thank you note from my mom--and it is the first card I ever stamped at a workshop with Button Bear, that I gave her to use, again, 9 years ago. I saved the card (somewhere) because it was my first card I ever stamped!!! (What made her send it to me now, I'll never know!)
was "What's Brewin" 1999 - I must have spent $100 on the spot - those iron jaws SNAPPED on me and it's all a BLUR - had a party right away, somewhere along the way I acquired Brushstroke Blossoms (it was a Hostess Gift) and I love that little set. I want to say the first pads I purchased were Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore fillowd by Bliss Blue/Ballet Blue/ Brocade Blue - Cindy - CINDY - where the heck are you - my favorite pusher from days of old - >laughs maniacally
I was also hooked at first sight. I scrapbooked and had done Christmas cards before. I was then convinced I could do cards for every occasion as well. My first set was Sincere Salutations. I got it half price for the March 2005 special.

I had never hard of SU and I remember walking through the mall when I was a bit younger (high school) and seeing a stamp store and thinking what a waste of space! Fast forward YEARS and still had not heard of SU but was invited to a party. Ended up buying a bunch of stuff, including Warm Memories (my christmas card that year) and Nice and Easy Notes. I have been hooked ever since. (Waste of space? What was I thinking!!!)
My first set was SImple Wishes, I wasn't sure I would stick with it. But 3 years later I'm still at it. My kids said that it was a waste of money, that the stamps would sit on the shelf. Now they think I belong in a cult because I make so many cards.
My first stamp sets was the Itty Bitty Borders and Pocket Fun. Boy have I had a lot of fun with those sets. After all that fun I am still buying more sets. My DH tells me I have enough but we'll see who wins.

My first set was a little over a year ago, I had no idea what SU! was, or where to get it. I fell in love with Loads of Love on E*bay. (I am so surprised I even got it for a very good price. lol)
Although I cannot remember the name of the set, it was a set of 4 stamps. One had a long Christmas tree, one was a Christmas stocking, one was Old Man Christmas, and the other was a saying. A friend had invited me to a SU! party. When I got there and saw all the things going on, I was TOTALLY intimidated, but because she was my friend, I felt like I "had" to order something, so I ordered this set, some bookmarks, a stampin' wheel roller with red and green ink. I said I'd try this and if I still liked it or thought I was any good, I'd buy more. Well, that was in 1999, and I have dozens and dozens and dozens of sets and it's become my favorite hobby. Can't stop now.
At the very first SU party that I went to I looked at a catty and the set that got me hooked was actually Snowglobes. But the first set that I purchased was Winter Wonderland. I did end up buying Snowglobes eventually but never used it and ended up selling it to a friend last year. I sold Winter Wonderland too but now I wish I hadn't. I miss that set.

I knew I was hooked in July of '99 when I bought Bold Birthday (I think that was the name of it, it had multiple sayings with flowers) and Meow Meow. I also bought a Spectrum Kaleidacolor and a grey ink pad. I knew I was hooked, I just trying to get useful stuff to get started. I still have Meow Meow but don't use it anymore.
I went to a party with my friend, and we were both just in awe. I didn't have any money at the time, so I didn't buy anything, but a little while later I got cold play and trim the tree off of ebay. I didn't know I could just call the demo and order. LOL. Anyway, I totally overpaid, but it was so worth it.
Mine too! I still have the very first card I made with that set tacked up on my bulletin board in my stamp room! It's faded, full of horrible mistakes:oops: but it makes me smile every time I see it! I was sooo proud of myself! I even did Christmas cards with it my first year - my husband and son helped me out by coloring and cutting the little gift packages, his Santa hat, etc. This must have been 1998? Wow, takes me back..... What a fun thread!
Mine was itty bitty borders.....I was so clueless and just wanted something CHEAP, since I had no clue what I was doing!
Now, a year and a half later, and TONS of money into it, I am a demo with a pretty good business going. I still have that set and looking at it makes me smile!!!
(Great thread, BTW!)
I don't know what the name was, but it was baby hands and feet, and I too didn't know that you had to trim them. I use them with markers or dauber duos so the ink only goes where it needs to be.
My first set is a foam mounted set - anyone else remember those? It's dated 1994. Don't know the name because I didn't keep the sticker thingy. It's a doll house set. You could buy pads of paper with a drawing of a doll house on it ... the stamps are the furniture and people. Very cute ... haven't used it in a million years as my youngest has out grown it. Does anyone remember this set?
I bought this before I was into stamping .. I had gone to a party and had to buy something. I got this set for my daughter ... it was probably 10 years later before i actually got interested in stamping.
I certainly do remember the foam mounted sets, since I have a couple of them. I remember that dollhouse set. It was cute, but since I have a real dollhouse to play with, I didn't feel the need to stamp dollhouses. :-)
My first SU order took place in 1998. I purchased 4 sets, and two of them were/are on the less expensive foam. All four are long retired now, but two of them were sets of borders, one set was a four frames, and one was a scenery set which I thought would work for masculine cards.

My first set was less than 2 years ago - Holiday Wishes - to make Christmas cards. My daughter got me started on stamping, and I've been broke ever since! (LOL)
