HelloI watch a great deal of videos on You Tube. Recently I keep keep getting pop ups asking me to get the subscription to watch without delays, saving videos “easier” and watch videos with commercials. Has anyone paid to view YouTube without commercials? Is is really worth it? Thanks for any advice
I've seen this too, but my thoughts, to be honest, were that after a few seconds I could skip the ads anyway, so I'm not going to pay for the privilege. On very odd occasions, I get an ad part way through a video, which is annoying, but not enough to get me to part with cash!I think if the ads became longer, or more intrusive, then I'd probably consider it, but at the moment, no.
I'd like your advice, please. I'm putting together a 4-times-a-week email newsletter (brief!) that will combine my love of stamping/die cutting and creating with repurposed items (I'm an environmental educator by profession): kids crafts, adult crafts, and calligraphed projects I create to sell. I'm hoping to find someone to help me make videos on YouTube to demonstrate the crafts I'll be writing about, and would like to make those videos into a subscription offering or charging a small fee to view each one. I have a bazillion ideas! Would that be something you would support? I'd love your comments/suggestions!! Thanks very much.
I got a free three-month trial of the ad-free version, and I did not find it useful at all. I think the monthly charge is $12.95, which makes it pretty expensive to skip ads. I think you get music streaming also, so that may be of value to you. But I cancelled before my first billing.
I got the AdBlocker for YouTube add-on for Firefox, which is the browser I use to do most of my online stuff, including YouTube. It used to work to where the ads never appeared at all. Now, if there is an ad "scheduled," I get instead a black screen with a message about a playback error before the video. No ad content, though, and it only lasts for a few seconds, so I suppose it's the minimum length of time I would be "required" to watch the ad. Anyway, it is free, and works well enough for my tastes. I realize the YouTube crafters lose money this way, and thus it could be seen as "selfish" on my part to block the ads, but I frankly don't want to waste my time on ads that are inappropriate to me, or (even worse) political, or whatever. Just a suggestion. I'm sure other browsers probably have similar extensions/add-ons.
I subbed for a couple of months so I could watch Cobra Kai & Origins. Origins was cancelled and then Cobra Kai got snatched up by Netflix so I decided to cancel the sub.
Side note- AdBlocker- I do use one on my computer. I do freelance cyber-security so I need to have an ad blocker. I do try to find ways to support content creator's other ways when I able to.
thisisceck- No, I wouldn't pay for that. I am sorry. I am sure there is a market for it but with Covid I know a lot of people are being very careful about their spending. I see YT's with their Patreon's struggling at this time because they are not getting paid subs since so many are having to tighten their belt. To be honest there are so many tutorials online for things if you have to pay for one you can always find a similar one for free.
Also I have seen so many videos that a content creator has attended a class, learned a technique and then turned around and shared same technique they learned in their paid class on their YouTube for free. Before Covid I wouldn't even sign up for classes because I knew when said class was over one of the influencer's would be uploading all the content on their channel that took the class. I got to learn everything anyway without spending my DH's hard earn money.
My daughter got Youtube Premium it's $18 per month she likes to stream without ads, she added me in. The ad's are where the youtubers make their money.
I have AdGuard - ad blocker and privacy app (green shield with a tick) on my iPhone and watch heaps of YouTube videos without any video ads. This is on Safari. I have Firefox too but usually watch most on Safari. I recommend it but don’t know if it is selling my data to someone since it is free.
