Loved reading through all the replys! I fall into the SLOB category. I can't make a card without littering my desk and the floor with snips of paper, ink pads, sponges, whatever. It also always manages to end up on me -- usually ink on my fingers, hands or face.
I do clean up afterwards though! (Can't set a bad example for the kids -LOL!)

can i be both tidy AND a disaster??? i get messier and messier as i work, to the point that i can't even think straight. . ..and then i clean clean clean!!!! (and then start all over again!)
Me too.
I never have just ONE project going at a time; I get bored with a card, and move on to another one, get bored of that one, etc. To make things worse, DH wants a copy of all of my best cards, so after I actually finish a card, I still have to make another copy. Or I'll sit there for hours thinking of ways to make a card juuuuust crappy enough so that DH won't want a copy of it so I don't have to make a second one. I am soooooooo lazy. The table is always a huge mess, and the floor too - I have towers of stamps stacked around my chair.
Oh, but when I get sick of the mess, I do clean it all up.
I am super neat when there are no creative juices flowing, I just keep cleaning until something strikes me. The longer my mind is empty, the cleaner the room gets.
When I have some mojo, my ongoing messes tend to be mostly scrap ribbon and papers.. piles of scrap dp's, cardstock with various folds or punches, pre-made focal images that never made it to a card.. Everything else has a place but that stuff, nowhere to put it and I just can't throw it out..KWIM.
When I am actively stampin', I force myself not to put anything on my 11x17 mat that I stamp on, but at times, the tools and accessories, ink pads and stuff do tend to overtake the entire desk.

I'm a complete pack rat; can't throw anything away. I'm a teacher and am taking this vacation time to organize. One of my new downlines is moving and gave me a computer desk. Since I already have one that's perfect for me, I'm using the new desk as my craft desk.
I've really started cleaning up and organizing. Hope it lasts. I would like to use the computer/craft desk as my work place, so my dinner table isn't covered with junk all the time. I have a large living room/dinning room in which I have added a craft table, so I can have classes/club meetings in that place. I want my living space back, so am trying to organize the family room as my craft room, and to get out of the dinning room. All three areas use to stay a mess between meetings and classes. I would straighten up and clean up, but the set up for the classes would stay the same; always looking like a craft store.
Like I said I'm changing the family room into my work/craft room for meetings/classes. I'm planing on using Create Decore Elements on one of the walls. If the family room gets organized to allow for enough room for classes, then I'll be able to use that desk and not have to put things away while I'm working.
One of my customers, a teacher and good friend, said, "Stasia, you'll just fill up that desk and start to overflow it again." My husband hopes she'll be wrong and I'll actually finally find a way to keep neat.
Yeah Stasiatodd, I hear you...packrats unite....you never know when you might need something. And as a teacher, that something may come in handy for a project.
Good luck getting it all together and enjoying your vacation!
[QUOTE=nwlovestostamp;10326877]I am neat and tidy all the way...sometimes to a fault because I often put something away that I need for my next card! QUOTE]
Oooh.... that's me entirely. Then I have to get up, get it out again, blah, blah, blah. I clean my stamps after EACH use too, even tho I may be using it within seconds. DUH!
I should get some of that crime scene tape to put up around my table when I am working!!!
I usually have about a 6in x 6in area to make a card, I just take my arm and push everything to the right to make more room;)
This sounds just like me. I'm kind of surprised at the number of neat stampers there are. I can't imagine putting everything away each time I stamp. Sometimes I end up with what I call "Serendipity Cards" when unrelated scraps are juxtaposed and create new and unusual designs and color combos.
I usually stamp every day and clear my desk about once a week. I'll put everything completely away about once a month or when I can't find what I'm looking for. I'm still looking for my wheel guide a month later. Also, on occassion my cats will sneak off with something from my stamp table and I'll find it under the stove or something.
I am an in betweener. I try to put things away as I use them. But somehow at the end of the month my table is a mess because I'll keep things out to use on the next project.
I'm hoping to upgrade my messiness status to "in-between" and gasp possibly a neat and tidy. I decided that the more room I have the messier I am. So I have removed my 6 foot craft table and replaced it with a desk. OMG There is just enough room for a double page spread or 4 cards--that's it!
I've also just re-organized my paper and stuff so I'm hoping it will help my messiness status.

I am a messy girl! I usually just start a new project on top of what's left from the last project. Only sometimes do I clean the whole table and start fresh. It is really nice when I do that. Right now I have corner rounder punches all over the floor and there are silver mini beads, you know the ones without holes, all over the stinkin place! Ugh! Maybe I should drag out the vacuum!
I'm rather AR when it comes to starting a new project...have to have a clean workspace. While I'm working I do try to keep the area relatively neat so I have room, and when I'm done (if it's within the same time frame) I won't put it all away if I think I'm going to use some of the same tools, etc. on something else. However, when I'm through for the day or evening I do clean it all up. I on the other hand am usually head to toe in glue, glitter, inky fingers, etc.
I'm very neat and tidy... after finishing a card and before starting a new one I make sure everything is put away, even if I'll be using that supply for the next card!
