I was at a crop this morning and I was wondering outloud why can't I get in the habit of putting stuff away as I go? I leave stuff out even though it has a storage place. Right now, my MIA list includes craft & rubber scissors and StazOn Black pad. sigh

I think i'm an in-betweener because even when i'm neat storage-wise and with putting things back where they go, I always end up covered in ink. My DH saw what looked like a bruise on my wristbone the other day and said "oh my gosh what did you--oh, nevermind, it's ink again."

I am just trying to see if there is anyone else out there like me ... ... LOL ... I was stamping a whole bunch of stuff the other day and I noticed how once I was done with one project I put everything away before I started a new one. Even if I needed to use something for the next project I put it away ... Now, on the other hand I am always covered in ink, glitter or glue ... lol ... So tell me ... are you a tidy or messy stamper???
this is exactly me!! i use mostly clear stamps and i even put away my acrylic blocks!! how dumb, now that i think about it!

I have finally begun cleaning up after each project (my mid-year resolution LOL) but I have been, am, and always will be a very inky mess! No matter how hard I try I can never keep ink off of ME.
I am the messiest stamper ever! A few years back, when I was babysitting our friends little boy, I got a call from his mom asking if I had use glitter today. I replied, Yes, why? Cause he had it all over his butt cheeks  . Oops, I should be more careful with that glitter shouldn't I?
I think you need another option in your poll, OCD after all the messies got two. And yes I fall into the OCD. I can not think let alone work if everything isn't in it's place before, during and after creating.

I am an "in-betweener". My table gets messy but I clean up, and put everything away before I start a new project. Messes drive me nuts, and I feel like it puts a damper on my "creative mojo". lol
That describes how I work too! You put it perfectly Ronie.
im generally a perfectionist and i am crazily organised, but due to my lack of time to make cards lately, ive been getting messy and my cards not so neat and tidy
I'm a messy stamper. Or maybe I should say in-betweener. My craft room is organized on the whole but my actual work table is a diaster. It's covered in bits of cs, works in progress, bits of this and that, inkpads, markers. Even my rotary cutter is covered. I have to move stuff to cut cs. I go until I have about a 6 in. X 6 in. workspace then I HAVE to clean up or I can't think.
Total train wreck here too.. You know, I inherited a bedroom last summer when our oldest son moved out - but I tried to organize my space but never really succeded -though to a large extent. My stamp room is chock a block full - and stuff is piled sky high - and all over the floor ( though I can walk around.. and then our dining room table has not been clear of my stamping stuff for some time. If fact, when I actually want to stamp - I have to use the kitchen table.. the only place I can find some free space..
My motto when looking for my stamping supplies is - it's always somewhere.. and I usually do find what I am looking for.. I do have my have my many drawers and shelves etc etc highly organized.. but somehow.. it just always stays a train wreck..not sure why???
I am a messy one and proud of it! With that said, I do try to keep my pens and tools to one side of my stamping area and scraps of paper to the other side. But, I do not really put things away until I am ready to start a big project. I use the floor and the washer/dryer (next to my craft table in the basement)too. It is really nice to have my craft area in the basement, close the door...no shame factor!
I have total respect for the neat freaks too.....in the rest of my life, I am. But, I believe it cramps my creative juices to constently clean up.
I am messy! When I'm working on things, everything piles up on each side of me until it gets to be such a mess that I have to put everything away and start over. Everything in my area is fairly well organized. I'm just messy when I'm creating.
Totally messy while working! I almost took a picture the other day because it was unbelieveable! When I'm working on something, I don't want the cleaning to stop the process... but I'm tempted sometimes.
I always straighten up and put things away between projects -- even if it's that rare occasion when I can do projects back-to-back.
I'm messy! It looks like a tornado went through my room. I have bits and pieces of projects and mistakes all over the table (on the one end) and sewing machine/material/quilting supplies scattered all over the other side of the table. I usually leave the room with glitter on myself or ink...or something. ;)
You sound like me! I have a sewing machine, embroidery machine, two sergers, about 400 spools of embroidery thread, a million yards of fabric, my computer, and all my stamping/scrapping stuff in one little 10 x 11 room. No wonder I'm nuts!
Im an OCD neat freak. I pull things out as I need them during the project use them for whatever purpose (hole puch, tape, etc) and then put it away and grab the next item. GEEZ, no wonder it takes me FOREVER to finish a card or a scrapbook page.
I wish sometimes that I could be messy. It probably would be fun. (eh, on second thought nah it would cause anxiety. LOL)

TRAIN WRECK !! HA HA !!!
I start out with good intentions but being the only one here most of the time- I find i move from room to room depending on what i want to do..I generally have a black ink pad in every room. That way if i have a card in hand and need to do something on it-I CAN!
By the end of a good day my house looks like a craft store...Then reality slaps me in the face, and i have to put it all away again.Only to start all over again tomorrow. If noone calls or shows up though.I may leave it be!

Kelly I am with you! I totally clean up after each project. It is so quick this way, I love it and I feel I am much more creative and get much more done this way! In my studio everything has a home and everything lives in ITS home(unless I am activly using it)! My husband says i am organized to a fault sometimes, well that is just fine with me!!!!!
I am horribly messy! When I use something I just kinda toss it to the side when I'm done with it, so needless to say by the time I finish a card or two there is a huge mountain on my table, lol.
I have my craft room so organized but when I'm in the "groove" I don't want to stop and put it away because more than likely I'm going to need it again. I do find it difficult to start from scratch on a new project if my room is messy. I keep thinking that I need to stop and clean. When it start to really bother me, I play a silly little game where as I finish the current project I have to put away anything that I touch. By the time I'm finished with the project I have most of the room cleaned up.
I wish I was like others who are neat stampers, but I'm not so I don't worry about it too much. I just promise I'll do better next stamp session - sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
When my room is real messy DH says he's going to tie one of those orange flags to my butt so he can find me. Yea right! real funny .. not!
I have to keep everything in it's place. I'll put all of my scraps away before starting on a new project. I can't stand things out of order, but I'm also the person who cleans my house almost every morning because I can't stamp if there is a mess. LOL!
It depends on what I'm doing...currently it is messy since I haven't been stamping for a couple of days. But once I start stamping, I'll put some stuff away to make room for the next mess.
I'm pretty neat - I'm organized and like things clean & tidy, but it's only because I'm a mommy to 4 kids. If I didn't keep my craft room looking more like a store, rofl, and a "work area", they'd think it was a playroom and it would be a free-for-all! I have always been a hands-on, get down and let's all play together type mom, but come on ........ the SU! and other crafting supplies? I like to draw the line somewhere - don't want *my stuff* looking like a bunch of toddlers and preschoolers were playing with it, LOL!
Some call it messy. I call it organized chaos!
My office is totally a wreck all of the time. I had it cleaned once last year, but that didn't last long. I also study here and take classes online, my desk doesn't hold that much so I have little piles all over the floor. My husband won't even walk in the door.
My room is a mess. My desk is so covered, that lately I've been working on the floor! I really need to give the room a good overhaul and clean out! I just find that when I go in my stamp room, I want to stamp... not clean!
Me - I'm as messy as it comes.... I clean up after each larger project or after a couple of cards because my room ends up looking like a bomb went off in it!!! I have a large space and I spread stuff everywhere - even the floor!!!
Hmmm .... maybe I have too much stuff??? Nahhhh, never.... I'm just a messy messy stamper....

I'm an "in-betweener". I *try* to clean up after each project and between each project, but that doesn't always happen. I guess I lean towards the messy side.
I would love to be this accomplished. I'm retired, I have no excuse, except
my work space is never large enough. I have three small stations and they all have piles of stuff on them. I am trying to organize ideas from this site,
to just go to that file and use an idea, but now, I'm overwhelmed with papers to file. Seems like when you try to get more organized, you make a bigger
mess getting there. However, so far, I think, I have only one misplaced item on my list that I haven't found. I just need a WHOLE FLOOR to be better
organized.....that's it.

I would have to say that I am the worst of both worlds. When I work in my craft room it looks like a tornado hit after I am finished with a project. On the other hand, I can't work in my area at all until it is absolutely clean and organized. I spend more time cleaning and organizing than stamping. What a pitty!
I can't seem to work unless I have some piles around me. I seriously have stamping ADHD, so I'm continually quitting mid-project and starting something else, and I never put anything away in between, so eventually EVERYTHING is out on the table and I'm working in this teeny tiny space and my lap!

Your replies have been so fun to read!!! Looks like the neat and tidy stampers have been overtaken by the messy ones!!! I am with a few of you when you say that you wish you could be messy ... I wish I could too!!!

OMG!!! I am almost embarrassed at how messy my stamp room is  There is a teeny tiny pathway to my table and then the only available space I have to actually stamp is about 12x12....the rest is just piles and PILES of stuff!!!! from scraps to embelishments to ribbon to adhesive to.... to....to....ugh!! I really need a big ol' clean sweep and a fresh start...you know so I can just go and mess it all up again ;)

I am a total slob also! I love that there are other "slobs" like me! It looks like a hurricane went through my house when I am done. But... I do know where everything is!
Fun little thread....for myself, I cannot create in a mess....but my creating MAKES a mess! So, this is my routine..
1. Make a coffee (things would go terribly wrong if I skipped this all important step)!
2. Clean up the wreckage from my last creation tornado
3. Once things are all back in their places, create another said tornado
4. Repeat the pattern
I put that I am in between but I'm probably more on the neat end. I can't start stamping if my desk is a mess, because I just don't have a lot of space to work. Because of lack of work space, I do tend to put things away mid-project if I'm done using the item. However, I just couldn't bring myself to say that I'm totally neat either, because sometimes my desk does look like a tornado hit it when I'm mid-project. And since my stamping area is in my bedroom, sometimes I have things setting on my bed when I'm working.
