I have nothing new to add to this list... I do them ALL!! LOL!! I was going to say spray the cleaner too close to the cards and getting it on the card, but then someone else admitted it too! hehe Love this thread!!
Thought this might be fun to start a thread of lessons we should know by now but still manage to forget.
For me:
You think by now I'd know to stamp the inside of the card first. How many times have I worked so hard on the outside, only to screw up the sentiment inside?
Yes I have the same problem. So I just stamp another piece of cardstock and glue it over the bad image. You can make it look like you meant to do it if you layer it over one of you primary colors you used on the outside of the card.
I'm glad to see everyone has these little things we all forget to do.
Last night I did another one:
You think by now I'd know not to start working on my lap when I run out of clear desk space. That never ends well.
This made me laugh. I've done most listed on this thread too. I work standing up because of my back and most of my stamps and tools are arranged so I can reach them easily. When I get into a stamping frenzy I can have multiple drawers open, large containers of paper, ink pads everywhere etc. so that everytime I move I knock something over. Yikes...it isn't pretty.
You would think I would know to not lean over anything on my desk....urhm, open ink pad, ample bosoms...interesting stain. Worst part was not realizing until I went upstairs for a cuppa joe and my then husband saw it first - and it WOULD have to have been an orange ink pad and a white t-shirt...
You would think I would know to REPLACE a hobby blade instead of trying to keep using a dull-ish one. I have one serious cut on a thumb - deep enough for nerve damage, d*** #10 Exacto blades are scalpel sharp even when too dull to cut paper..
And I've decorated so many upside down envelopes...it's just a "thing" now. LOL I used the whole "yeah, I meant to do that" argument.

This will also never happen to me - just sayin'...
After reading with amusement all these booboos that I've done, I was true to form last evening and dropped a completed card on an open ink pad. Luckily the ink got on the inside of the front panel of the card. I could have hit it but it was for my daughter and she would understand the snafu so I left it.

I admit to doing almost everything on this list, too. I can add that I manage to smudge the back of my card and I know if I would just mask it off I would be left with a clean card back. Think I can remember to do that.... NOOOPE. I DO think of it.... the second I notice the mark on the back of my card.
You think by now I'd know not to wait until the last minute to make cards.
I am making a friend 100 thank you cards for her wedding. I made the invites earlier this year. The wedding is in 8 days, and so far I've made 1. Yikes!

...how far a clear stamp can bounce when it falls to the floor! They're never as near where they fell as I think they should be. I need to wait for daylight to look properly for this one!!
One of the things I've done several times is to get rid of something I think I'll NEVER use, only to decide I needed it after all. I've bought the Creative Memories cutting system twice in the past, thinking I wouldn't use the first one. DER! But that's o.k., gave it to a dear friend, and she loves it too, so now we both have a set.
You would think I would check to see if I have my Spellbinder inventory note book in my purse BEFORE I go to the store and buy a duplicate :(
I had Fleur De Lis rectangles and wanted Fleur De Lis Squares so what did I buy??? Another Fleur De Lis Rectangles
Don't feel bad...I have actually resorted to taking pictures on my iPhone of my inventory because I have bought duplicates (and not jist of Spellbinders either) so many times! I have bought all sorts of duplicates...embossing folders, dies, paper packs, ink pads...you name it and I have probably got a duplicate of it?
Guilty of at least 98% of these! And, yes, wound up with multiples several times. Just recently bought the same Spellbinders off Ebay in the same day. Fortunately I have a friend who is the lucky recipient of my "overstocks"!
I think I need to put a calculator next to my scoring board or paper cutter. I sometimes can't divide by 2!!!
Well, sound like all posted so far are things that your card recipient will not know about. I have one mistakes I made that the recipient got. I addressed the inside of the card to Friend A and sent it to Friend B and vice versa. Friend A emailed me and asked "who the heck is Friend B?" Got a good laugh.
Last night I stamped and embossed the wrong corner of a Christmas card - I was doing 30 and luckily it was only one. When I had finished the 30 I actually said out loud "now to find out how many I have done in the wrong corner!" Oh and it was on the base which I had already printed, scored, cut and gold embossed the edges - luckily I was able to just emboss the appropriate corner as the design covered the wrong corner!
I love it when a plan comes together! LOL!
And FWIW my painting/bleaching t-shirt has a big dark blue spot on my boob where I was painting high on a wall and leaned in too much! My husband loves that shirt
Oh my! This thread is hilarious!! Guilty of so many! Here are mine.
You would think by now I would know:
-to NOT set my nice, refreshing glass of iced tea down on the craft table. Inevitably, I get busy making cards and my glass starts to sweat. I, of course, don't notice until my new creation gets gently set in the pile of water from my glass.
-that circle cutters are evil. I think they actually enjoy it when I pull them out and decide to use a piece of scrap paper. How many times have I tried to cut a circle and it go so well, until I get 85% of the way around and then my paper slips. Aaargh!
-that the heat tool is a dangerous thing! Keep fingers, especially thumbs, out of the direct path of heat. Also, a self-healing cutting board does not like for you to lay things on it and then use the heat tool. In fact, it will refuse to self-heal after that. Go figure.
-that cheap craft glue runners are not good to use for making cards. So when you run out and have no more refills, use your kids Elmers glue. Sure beats using that cheap stuff and then going to a birthday party and having your dad's card fall apart when he pulls it out of the envelope. *sigh* He thought the ducks falling off was intentional. It was only when he turned it around to show everyone and the cardstock fell off the front panel that he, and everyone else, realized that something was amiss.
I am sure that there are more, I just can't think of any more right now. LOL

Put a Tervis tumbler with lid on your Christmas list - it will be the best crafting tool you have.;)

You would think by now I would know:
not to allow my g-kids in my craft room unattended. They have misplaced or ruined many things. Not sure if they are to blame or myself but I bought a second Bow Easy KNOWING I had another but not able to locate it....says it all huh?

A tip about stamping on the inside of your card. In all of my cards I use a piece of copy paper 1/4 inch smaller than the card. I fold it in half. Put adhesive on all 4 corners. Close my card and I have an inside that looks like a professional card. I just do this on one side of the card. Usually the top half. It hides anything on the top of the card and it gives you a clean surface to stamp on. I usually stamp on it before I adhere it to the card. It's a lot easier to do another inside than it is if you mess up your whole card plus it looks much nicer.
You would think I'd know by now that it is easier to stamp the sentiment inside the card when making the front of the card so that you use the same colour ink. I've ended up with a bunch of Christmas cards without the sentiment inside and now I have to backtrack and try to figure out what colour ink I used on the front, or what colour would co-ordinate.

Love this thread! I've done so many of these things -- you'd think I'd learn ...
One thing I do way too often is hold a piece of paper in one hand (or ribbon) and use scissors to cut it, cutting the area between my thumb and forefinger. It hurts like the dickens, let me tell you! Fortunately, it heals just fine (unless you cut it too deep) but still -- I've been doing this for years and years. I guess I keep thinking I won't do it this time.
These are great!!! Glad I'm not the only one who learns the hard way!
Never fails in my house - the second I open an ink pad or pull out a new STICKY Cricut Mat is the second my long haired cat decides to lay across my table - REGARDLESS of what's in the way!
Always keep beverage in a container WITH a lid!! Beverages and scrappy supplies & works of art DO NOT MIX! DOH!
What I am thinking is soooo amusing in this thread is the sayings people have by their names. Most of the sayings go with the mistakes we all make. Go back and read them for a laugh.
Ok...Sue...You and I can PROUDLY say that we never will have ink stained shirts...Right?
Blessings,
Valerie
Add me to this group too! Other than that, I've done everything else... usually more than once! Why do we either forget what happened the last time, or believe that it won't happen this time? Selective Crafting Amnesia???
