Those of you who do this do you find it better than just buying from the catty online? Do you get a discount on your purchases?
Yes, 20%. I think it's worth it. The minimum to stay active is $300/quarter and I was spending that as a customer. So between the discount and the convenience of placing my own order and not having to deal with a demo, it has been worth it for me. I also like seeing the sneak peaks and the Stampin Sucess magazine.

The thing about being a "hobby" demo is that you may start out that way (just purchasing the minimum yourself), but then you find a few friends that want to purchase from you. Then you don't have to worry about the minimums quite as much and you might even make enough to cover your own purchases. So, yes...definitely worth it!
I was a hobby demo a few years ago...and for me it was absolutely NOT worth it. There were so many instances where I would place an order because of some special or some deal and I over-bought, but did not have the option to sell what I ended up not using. I get 25% off from my demo now because I always place $150+ orders. But then if I have sets I decide I won't use, I can sell them if I would like.
So technically now my discount is more than as a hobby demo, though I don't get any of the catties FIRST, nor do I get the free promo sets that come out, or extra percentage checks...etc. But I spend less, and I can get my money back on what I don't want.

I am a hobby demo and to me it is totally worth it. I easily spend $100/month on supplies. And now I spend that on SU supplies (which I like best anyway) and get a 20% discount.
I do have a few customers that I give my discount to. But they will help me make my minimums if I can't myself. Right now, they help me get volume rebates LOL!
I've been a hobby demo for about 5 months but I do have 4 customers - my stamp club. I give a 15% discount to them so they will help me meet my minimum. I joined when they had the $99 demo pkg. I think it is worth it but I'm also prepared for the time when I reach a max on what SU! goodies I want and have to look for customers to fulfill the minimums. At that time I'll probably quit. Aslo, for the discount , I don't deliver if they add on to my own order. I figure that we'll have at least 2 catalog parties where they host so they get the hostess benefit.
IF you don't meet the quarterly minimums, you go into pending where you have a month to make up last quarters minimums as well as part of the current quarters minimums. After that if you don't meet the minimums you aren't a demo anymore.
A good time to sign up is durning sale-a-bration which starts FEB 1st. You would get an extra stamp set of your choice from the catalog.
I signed up a couple years ago during a free stamp pad color family set. I did it originally because I wanted to get more of the SU supplies. I think it is worth if for me at this point. I get the things I want at a discount and becuase I try to place my orders at one time close to the end of the quarter I get the hostess bennies too. I really enjoy the Demo site on here, as well as the sneak peaks and first shot at preorders. I have a couple friends who place orders with me on occasion and that helps with my minimums.

I am a hobby only too. I give my discount to anyone...only way to make the minimums.
Blessings.
Hi,
Is that OK to do? I was actually going to do the same thing. I don't mind doing it at all. I had a friend that did it for me, so I definitely plan to do the same for her. I think I will just give the discount to anyone who wants it though.
Its win win for the customers and the hobby demo. Does it work out for you?
