I agree, Gale I have some stamps that are bare rubber, and I know they stamp fine that way, and I'm no more likely to get stray ink on the block with those than I am with the cushion, but I just don't like them as much.
I have a lot of rubber stamps without foam. I have used e-z mount and just acrylic stamps. For the e-z mount, I just don't like having to cut them out, I had to with the old style SU stamps. The foam on the stamps it nice, but a lot of my stamps don't have that foam. CTMH stamps include a white foam sheet, it's about 1/16" thick and use it under your cs that you are stamping and you get a perfect image all the time. I have about 3 sheets and I keep them at my work table to use. I like the thin e-z mount 'cause it's easier to cut and I still use my foam under my cs. Haven't tried Aleene's. I'll have to try that sometime.
