I always make my own paper! Usually use plain white paper and use a wheel for overall design. Do it for birthdays as well as holidays. I also have a roll of kraft paper and that often works better for the men in my life. I have not bought a roll of paper in years!! I also stamp tissue paper to match a plain colored bag that I stamp.
Yes. It is kind of time consuming, but I really like it anyway. I bought a roll of plain white paper and use a kaliedacolor ink pad for snowflakes, leaves, etc. My friends think I'm a genius when it is really stamping 101!

I've done it too. About 11-12 years ago they showed it on Martha, and of course that year I stenciled silver metallic snowflakes on kraft paper. I've been doing it ever since. Lots of companies seem to use slightly crumpled kraft paper for shipping, so it's a great way to recycle, IMO.
I love to do my own, too. I buy big rolls of brown grocery-sack type heavy paper from Home Depot and use that - it's the perfect width for my craft table and I can easily cover it and then cut it down. The paper's thicker so there's no peeking at the gift inside. I tend to use that for masculine and natural stuff.
I'm addicted to wrapping papers from The Container Store, though. I like to have everything under the tree and in the stockings coordinate. (Cheesy, but it makes me happy, lol)
Yeah, I tried that once. I don't think I'll be doing that again. I was wrapping a baby bathtub for a baby shower gift, and I stamped the whole thing in wild about you and big pieces. It took forever! My arms and back were so sore from all the stamping afterward. If I do it again, I will only be doing small gifts, lol or maybe using a wheel.
I have wheeled tissue paper and used it with solid colored gift bags. I find it to be very time consuming! I love to wheel the plain white lunch sacks. They go fast and work so well for gifts and/ or party favor bags. This is a far better way to stamp and wrap gifts.
Two Christmases ago, I opened up dozens of brown grocery paper bags and I had DS stamp and decorate all of them. They were all of our wrapping paper that year. He stamped some of them with rubber stamps with pigment and dye inks, some with foam stamps with acrylic paint, and the rest were decorated with foam Christmas stickers. He had a blast, Grandparents loved it, and he was happy getting to do Christmas crafts!
I have wheeled just the 4 edges of a sheet of white tissue paper; that's the part that sticks out of the gift bag. It looks beautiful and is less time consuming that stamping the entire sheet of paper.
I too have used kraft paper and coloured wrapping papers - and more recently a roll of "very white" lining paper from the DIY store (fab as thick so it has a real quality feel - and so long - and so cheap!)
Also stamped many gift bags for presents and for multi card-packs - as well as cheap handled sandwich kraft bags for my son's birthday party "going home bags" - they go down a storm - even the kids think they are "cool"....
I have used both wheels and stamps - depends on what I am doing - and for what. Time is reduced with less and more random images..... or with a wheel!
I have also stamped used fruit boxes that I got from the supermarket - they were fab. Started off as plain black/green/pink boxes and were great for charity raffle hampers I was putting together - I just had to cover a little label on the side. Every other person praised them - I was well chuffed!!

I too make my own. Sometimes I use tissue paper and delicate stamps and other times rollers. Dont forget to save that great brown paper stuffed in your SU boxes! Iron it up and roll on your favorite wheel design and you decorated mailing wrap!
We like to make the paper as well, we take a roll of the brown kraft paper, roll it out as far as we can, litely tape down a few of the edges and let the kids go at it with the wheels or with some of the snowflake stamps. The kids have fun and we aren't spending alot on the fancy store bought paper that just gets tossed out anyway, in our house it is a win win situation and we love it.
Some of our stores use nice paper gift bags with handles but their logo prevents reuse. I stamp a design, attach it over the logo and have a freee gift bag.
