Ok what I was thinking of trying was taking a piece of vellum and stamping my image and then heat embossing over that. Flipping it over and coloring the back, but then wanted to put glass enamel on the top and heat that so it gets all melty (is that a word lol). Would this idea work or not...Please give me your thoughts. Thanks so much!

I did a stained glass window on a card in my gallery and although the card as posted had a lot of room for improvement, I was pleased with my stained glass look. I used a transparency sheet and 3d glaze markers (if memory serves me correct..LOL) Here's the link to the card.

Anna, great card!!! could you tell me what "clear label paper" is and where I can get it??

Thanks for the compliment. As I said the way I posted it it needed a lot of modifications but I didn't have time to post the revised version before having to giving it to my nephew
Anyway clear label paper is what I used for the sentiment (Did the sentiment on the computer) What it was is just label paper for addressing envelopes or what not and it was clear. I got it at Staples here in Canada..would be like Business Depot or Office Max I think, in the States. HTH!

Vellum does tend to curl & warp when you heat it...you can heat emboss but you have to be very careful. I'm not familiar with the enamel medium you asked about.

This was my thought too - I did a similar thing with vellum but tried using crystal lacquer on it, and it just curled and warped.
What kind of glaze are you putting on it, a liquid that dries or one that needs to be heated? Not to be a repeat, but vellum does curl.
I would try the transparency sheet, IMO. You can get them at staples or other office places. There should be some tutorials here on SCS about using them.
Has anyone else tried my idea? Do you think it will work? I dont want to buy the supplies and then have it not turn out. TIA
I recall when I first started stamping that the demo made a stained glass look. She stamped the design, embossed it.
Then she just flipped it over and colored the back with markers. She did not add any other sparkle or glitter or glass enamel. It looked great without that.
I've achieved a stained glass look by using acetate/transparency and then colouring with the Gelly Roll Glaze pens. I guess you could also try glass paints.
Look at the July 13 entry on my blog to see an example of an image on vellum that was thermal embossed. I didn't use a stamp for the image...it's a printout from the Dover book site. But a stamped image would work in the same way. This is one of thse cases where a photograph just do a project justice...
Also have a stained glass image stamped on wrapping tissue that was thermal embossed and colored...go to Labels , scroll down to Wrapping tissue: stained glass and click to see that project.
