About a year ago, I felt God telling me to send my handmade cards with handwritten messages to our church's shut-ins. So I listened to Him. I write to all of them faithfully each month. Every single one has either called me or written to me to tell me how much they love getting my cards. Our pastor has even come up to me to remark on it. I feel so blessed, I can't even describe it. And in typical God fashion, He has blessed me with even more stamping time to do more of this kind of ministry. It's like a never-ending cycle....I find that the more I listen to Him, the more I receive back (far more than I ever dream of!). I just had to share this as I have read threads on here of people not appreciating handmade items.
Thanks for sharing! This is one of the best posts that I have read in awhile. You are doing what I hope to someday. I can imagine that your cards are very much appreciated and looked forward to. God bless you!
This is why I stamp too! Had a call yesterday from someone who had just received a card from me. God is awesome and I appreciate the "job" he's given me to do! Thanks for sharing!
Such a great ministry. As a pastor's wife I can assure you that you have done what every pastor loves-you thought of a possibility and made it happen on your own. You are a blessing to your pastor and your church as well as to each individual that you are encouraging.

I LOVE this story! Thanks for the inspiration!
Hijack alert! {BTW, I'm moving to your area....finally! (I asked you about Pittsburgh 2 yrs ago, remember?). We're excited about the new adventure and can't wait to see where God will take us. Will probably be moving right after Memorial Day (when school is done). So PA people, tell me my must see places near Pittsburgh! I'll be house hunting soon!}
When my sister was fighting cancer, two sisters both in their mid 80's sent her a card every week with handwritten messages. She treasured those cards and when she lost her battle they sent a card to the whole family. They blessed my life and I have never even met them. Sending cards is a powerful thing and I for one will continue to surprise people with cards as often as I can.

I started sending Christmas cards to church members whom I hadn't seen for awhile in 2010. Then I began my card ministry with Valentine's to homebound and care facility members that was 3 years ago. I still send to them 28 of them monthly. Also birthday, get well, birthday and anniversary.

I did at one time entertain the thought of giving the church sympathy cards for those who lose family members. I thought of it, you are actually DOING IT! Great job, and keep listening to that still small voice!

My sil and I make holiday cards that our ladies group signs and sends out to our shut-ins at church. We have had family members drop us a note and thank us. I know they are appreciated and I have fun making them! I send them to my 85+ year old aunts and uncles. They rave about them! I say everyone, young or old likes getting some 'fun' mail. And we love making them, so let's share the love!
It is wonderful to hear your story. I am at the same crossroad in my life. My only hold up is myself. I just didn't' think people would really care or appreciate that. I have given me the boost of no more worrying about others that I really needed. I will be ending my hair business on 15 March....but I now have a plan....Thanks so much.

Thanks for sharing your story!! What a blessing you are to so many people!! Keep doing what you're doing...whatsoever you do to the least of His people...
Wow! Thank you so much for responding to what I wrote. I was so incredibly touched to read everyone's comments. My purpose in sharing was to let other crafters know there are people who really really love getting handmade items, so keep creating and keep sending! You spread joy!
