I don't get it.. I just went to finally check out the Nestabilities.. Great! I want the circles.. I have the $$ so I put them in my basket... I have a Wishblade machine! I can cut out any shape I could think of with one keyboard stroke! I also have a Cuttlebug, a Xyron personal cutter AND a Quickutz machine! What the heck am I thinking?! The only one that makes any sense is the Cuttlebug for embossing.. (I don't often emboss anything though..) What is wrong with me? Am I the only one who does this? I hope not!! lol I think I need a step program or some kind of counseling!
I think it comes down to not only being stampers/scrappers, but it also comes down to being collectors of the goods that we stamp/scrap with. I find that I just like new stuff! I have stamps that have never seen ink and will probably not, but I'll never part with them because they are part of my collection.
I'm the same way. If your feel like your buying just to buy than do what I do. If you find something you think you want give it one or two days before you order it. If you really really needed it (and in our hobby I use that term loosely hehe) than you will still have that urge to hit the order button. For me I find that there is always something new I discover (within those 2 days) that I'm glad I didn't order the first thing and want this new item more. And the process begins again Try it. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. But you are not alone.
I like to have a good variety of things on hand because I never know when I
will need it for a card or scrapbook page. I have 4 different eyelet setters and I use them all depending on what I want to do. Same with adhesives, etc. I am always happy to have friends over to share my loot with. Makes me feel less guilty if I share!
I don't know about anyone else but I get an endorphin rush when I buy stamping supplies online and then another one when I receive the products. I think this may be part of the reason that I spend so dang much. Also, I sell lots and lots of cards so it's a business expense, right? So what if I spend more than I make. Yikes, no wonder I don't have any money in the bank!
I too just jumped on the Nestabilities bandwagon with the entire set of ovals, then there is the cuttlebug, the carl cutter, and so on.
I feel your pain! I have more supplies than 10 people could ever use, and yet I buy more and more every month. It's totally out of control, but so much friggin' fun!!! I think it has a lot to do with personality types. I have all the latest and greatest of everything, yet I really don't do much with it. Yet my daughter-in-law makes stunning projects with very little 'gadgets'. If someone figures out a cure, please let me in on it! AND I just joined SU! which is only going to further my sickness!

I agree with what theresalaird said earlier. You can also set limits for yourself on some of the smaller things. For instance, I have a bin that holds my ribbon and a container for dp. When they are full, I do not allow myself to buy any new stuff until I use up some of it and there's space in the container again.

I'm the same way - congrats on your demo-ship! At least it's a fun "sickness". One of my "things" is I always feel I have to spend my weekly coupons from M's, Joann, Hobby Lobby, and even print multiple copies of those I get in emails not even knowing what I'm going to shop for but I don't want those coupons to be wasted
I think alot of us probably have this problem. I keep track of the cards I make and give away. I allow myself $3 for every card that i make and then give to someone (giving it away is the key!) I figure that I have saved at least three dollars by making it rather than going to Hallmark and buying one! At the end of the month this is my MAD money. Of course I can't walk out of HL or M's without purchasing something, but it kind of helps keep it in perspective. I like the idea about not buying any more DP if your bin is full! I think paper is my biggest downfall. I LOVE buying paper!
Thanks Kim! And those coupons have a hold on me too! Although last weekend I went to Michaels looking for some rub-ons and I actually walked out empty handed. Maybe there is hope! I'm new to SCS - what's DP?

That is an accomplishment! You will love SCS and of course all the enabling. DP is designer paper (like SU's designer series paper) and what most folks call their patterned paper. The thing that gets me is I'll think I'm doing so good and then someone will post about what they spotted at Target in the $1 spot, or at some other store and you feel like you have to run to your car immediately or you will miss out I'm an SU demo too - joined almost a year ago and my DH doesn't understand why I still have to spend stamping/crafting $ elsewhere?
I KNOW! Everytime I hear about something I think I've got to have it! Right now I'm trying very hard not to order a scor-pal. Although I hear it's very useful!
Duh! Racked my brain and couldn't even come up with DP = designer paper! Must be the cold medicine!

I promise I am not laughing at you- but WITH you! I feel the exact same way! The ratio of supplies I purchase to how much I stamp is well.......a little unbalanced. hehe. Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy buying the supplies more than using them....IDK. But I love my stamping supplies and could never part with them....except to use them and give the card away.
I don't even give my cards away - I never think they're 'good enough'! I spent probably 2 weeks working on a birthday card for my two-year-old granddaughters birthday and ended up buying her one. Now that's whacked!

Oh, you should definitely send your cards to other people! You are probably being too hard on yourself. People LOVE getting handmade cards! Plus, most nonstampers won't even know that they're not "good enough." Although I'm sure your cards ARE good enough!!!!
We are collectors, like it or not! I am actually pretty decent at budgeting my SBing money, but alas sometimes I feel like I have too many of one type of product (flower stamps) and not enough of another (alpha stamps).

Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
The Scor-Pal is a must have! Perfect folds and creases every time!
Then there is the need for more paper, stamps, inks, can you teel where this is going.....I went to Mike's and JA today....
The Nesties, that's another must have! Nothing else does quite what they do!
That's all the justification I need! Looks like I'll be shopping as soon as I can get off the cold meds and enter my payment info correctly! Thank you!

It is definitely a sickness. I need a 12 step program too! I do love seeing my families faces when they get a card or look at my scrapbooks. It does justify all of my purchases!! LOL! I am so glad when I read about everyone else's "problems"!
The way I look at it is -- I can afford to buy the stuff now. I have a job and am also collecting Social Security. In a few years -- not sure when exactly -- when I'm fully retired, I won't have the extra income. So I'm getting lots of stuff now so I don't have to get as much when my income is limited. At least that is how I am rationalizing it at the moment! LOL

Just a hint on the scor-pal...if you purchase some TAC stamps then you can get it for 20.97. That's what I did. I got it at half price!!! (Although, I haven't been to play yet and it's been sitting there taunting me for 3 days!!!!)....I have a great Angel. I'm not sure if I can list her name or not but if you pm me, I'll lyk who she is. BTW-TAC stamps are GREAT!!!!! They are on cling cushion but the images stamp just like my wood mounted stamps.

You're not alone. I rationalize to myself and DH that I'm buying everything I want now and saving for retirement so I never get bored and just in case we can't afford it later. Plus buying it later it'll be more expensive than now and even still, you may not be able to find it (outdating means nothing...lol).
DH and I took a Redbook quiz a while ago and surprise, surprise, we are both collectors! You can imagine what our house looks like. lol
I do the same thing, buy, buy, buy, but then I have so much stuff I can't even think. So I have started making myself sell stuff. I had to. I don't have room and it is very overwhelming. I am also learning what I need and what I can live without so that helps.
I buy so much that sometimes my random orders (outside of parties) gets me free stuff from SU. I always tell my husband..."I could have a more expensive hobby. Like collecting Porsches."

After I discovered SCS, I bought a cuddlebug. Love it! Then I heard about the nestabilities. Had to have them. Plus they work with the cuddlebug. How perfect. I check it all out. Find out here that cutathome has great deals, order through them and then find out I am on a waiting list. There are not enough nesties for us all. I thought I would have mine by now, ordered them like Feb.3 but no, they are still in China I guess. So I am spending my money but not yet getting any sort of satisfaction out of it. How sad is that?? :(
I love to buy, too. My biggest weakness is paper--I love the monthly scrapbooking kit clubs. Yikes! All those coordinated little packages of sheer wonder...oh my. But i do try to give away/sell/give to friends the things I have had a while and haven't used. And it really helped me with the SU catalog to make a list and list the items as priority 1 (cannot live without it), 2 (really like it) and 3 (like it). Then I waited a few weeks and only ordered the 1's and some 2's...(maybe a 3)
Oh it's so nice to know that I'm not alone here!!! I have had $300.00 to spend on "something" and I kept going between the Nestablities and the Cricut. So.....I purchased the Cricut a week or so ago 'cause it was available at WalMart. However after looking at more cards with the Nestabilities, I had to have them too. So back to WalMart I went and returned the Cricut. Now I'm off to PaperTrey to purchase the Nestabilities........but what stamp sets too????

I'm new to SCS so I have to ask - is ebay a no-no? I got a Cricut and Expression and tons of cartridges off ebay for REALLY good prices, but I haven't seen anyone here suggest ebay.

Vonnie, I just sold a lot of stuff on ebay and I did okay. I tried selling stuff here on SCS but only 1 set sold so then I went to ebay. I have also purchased lots of stuff. I might be missing something but I figure if it works then do it.

EBAY IS FINE..I've been buying on there forever and a day! Current merchanides isn't suppose to be sold unless it's retired but I haven't really looked on the bay for current stuff so I'm not sure if they do.
I have had some AWESOME deals nad I know of other people that got awesoem deals too!! So, I say GO FOR IT!!!

Ok--have you been in my "office" lately?? That's exactly what I'm doing--I'm selling off all of the excess and finding my space again to stamp and scrap.
I just unmounted all of my wheels and let me tell ya--it took a while!!!
