no worries! I love Real Red. Cherry Cobbler is SUCH a great color but you will want to have real red too. Real Red has more of a pink undertone, where cherry cobbler is like a dark blood red. Hope I explained that well Anyhoo, you can exchange if you absolutely want to, but trust me, you won't want to. And, you will probably end up getting cherry cobbler soon enough. Have fun with your starter kit!!
Agree, I think ppl are ordering Cobber because of Christmas. I wanted REAL red for Valentine's but since I got a Contempo Stamp set and no red ink, that was why I order Cobbler.
Don't worry you'll love Real Red for Christmas cards. And buy Cherry Cobbler next. Little by little you'll be getting your favorites, but will use lots of other colors.
Buying the assorted packs of card stock is a nice way to have at least one of each color. Make up your own swatch book and play with colors that are different than your usual picks.
Congratulations to all of you have just signed up! I love SU and have been a demo for 8 1/2 years.

to get alittle of each of the great colors. a great way to get them ALL in your hot little hands-order an assorted pack of each color famly. this way you can put color combos together-stare & dream!
Oh no! I got the real red and I see now that everyone LOVES the cherry cobbler. Are there drawbacks to the real red? If so, can I exchange it for cherry cobbler?
oops, I didn't mean to make real red feel unloved! both real red (a classic) and cherry cobbler are wonderful. hopefully, you will end up with both soon.

Yes, your stamps can be clear mount instead of wood. You just need to be at the same price or lower to substitute.
Just to clarify this...
Clear mount is less expensive than their wood counterparts (obviously).
If I can choose a $33.95 stamp set from the starter kit... can it be a clear mount stamp set that is $33.95? Or must it be the clear mount equivalence of a $33.95 wood stamp set? Am I making sense?
In other words, may I choose ANY stamp set that is $33.95 or lower... or must it be a stamp set with a WOOD MOUNT value of $33.95 or lower?
i just signed up last night, and when you order, there is a HUGE list of things you can substitute. both clear mount and wood block are available. it took me much longer to order than i thought because of all the options available. but it was sooo much fun.
i think they have all the stamp sets listed for substitution. and i believe the wood block were listed first in the list and then clear mount (cuz i panicked when i didn't see the one i really wanted and my demo helped me out with that).
but as long as the price (whether wood or clear) is not more than what is listed on the sheet, you are good to go
hope this answered your question!!

Jackie, i noticed we signed up on the same day 11/22
also, if you are doing this as a hobby and you place your first order of $150 (to get 30% discount) by Nov 30th, you also get to benefit from the free shipping offer.
i signed up but my demo doesn't have a web site so...
i called stampin up (800 number) and they gave me a referance number and allowed me to email scanned forms and then snail mail them in due to the concern of it not making it by snail mail.
What I am hoping any set in the catalog would work for replacement as long as it is the same or lower value??? I didn't have a web site to book from so I just looked in the catalog.
I choose: ""Herb expression", "Uncharted Territory" and then the For All You Do and So Many Thanks that they suggested. For my wheel I got Cheers.
You can search for a demo that's close to you via the demo locator at stampinup.com. if you know of anyone that is a demo and you want her/him to be your upline, you can search for them by name.
Congrats to everyone that's taken the plunge! You will LOVE SU!!
I signed up on Tuesday! i am so excited! I just got my shipping confirmation but it will likely be next Wednesday before it arrives since I am in Canada!
I am likely going to do this as a hobby, but I have a few stamping friends that will help me get to my quotas. I plan on holding an open house in the new year for Sell-A-Bration.
Can't wait to meet more of you through the demonstrator forum!

I signed up on Monday and expect my kit to be here next Thursday. I have wanted to be a demo for seven years, so I am just a little bit excited. I love SU!!!
Yes, I got my notification too and I think my shipment should be here by Saturday (I hope...). I am more of the hobby stamper, yet thinking about hosting a night in Jan for making Vday cards!
Hello ladies, I'm subbing, after reading all your posts, it's convinced me it's time to spend my birthday money and become a demo! Thanks for the inspiration!
*Thanks Erin! I think I'll be signing up today - I'm calling my demo today so I can get the information to do it on-line. I am giddy! My best stamping friend and my husband are doubtful I will have room for all my new goodies! There's going to have to be some purging, no doubt about it!
Hello new demos or demos-to-be, I wanted to know if anyone would be advertising for themselves? I am a first grade teacher and my husband is a teacher at a different school. I thought I would write a letter (stamped of course) and put it in everyone's mailboxes with a few Christmas tags from the Tags til Christmas set. However, after counting 46(not even sure if this is accurate - if I'm missing some!) women just at my school alone (and three weeks until winter break), I quickly abandoned this idea and now have settled on bookmarks that would go out in January. Any suggestions? Also, can someone tell me how they balance if they work full-time? I have 3-year-old twins in preschool and my parents watch them during the day when we're at school.
Hi Melissa! I'm an elementary school librarian, and one of the things I have done that was successful was to offer an after-school card-making afternoon fr the faculty. I usually do it from 3:30 to 5:00, once a month. I charge only for my supplies, and it's looked at by the school as a nice team building activity.

Melissa,
When I taught computers at a Pre K3-8 grade school, I used to give out either bookmarks or cards that I had received in swaps. So I would go with the bookmarks since you're starting out. I think Yapha's idea of having a workshop with the teachers a good way of getting your name out.
Then ask someone to hold a ws at their home.
Step by step.
Perhaps place the letter informing your teachers and your husband's teachers that you've now started with Stampin' Up! in their boxes. Just stamp one little stamp at one of the corners. Or wheel one edge. You could do that this year before break.
Good luck and welcome,
Stasia
my hubby grew up about 45 mins from the border, i grew up about an hour from the border. now i live about 5 hours or so from Winnipeg (not sure how far from the border). just a hop, skip and a jump away!!!!!

I have been a demo for almost a year now, I work full time for the state and have a 5 and 2 year old. I balance by working on my blog, newsletter, emails and displays during the week nights, after the boys go to sleep for about an hour. you would be surprised what you can get done in an hour A lot of my customers are at work, so that works out on contacting them and making sure they have info, ie promotions, flyers, etc. I only do events on Saturdays. Workshops, craftfairs, classes are only on sat. I do about 1 workshop a month and 1 class. I try to do as much as I can, but I try to only do events on Sat. This limits the amount of time I am away from my family, but allows me to get stuff done. Hope this helps!! Best of luck to you!

Hi Mandy! The new big catty will be out in June for a July release date (I think...it's late and I have a headache). The next mini, the occasions mini will be out in Jan but us demos have it now. You should be able to download it from the demo site. We usually get to pre-order from the new catalogs one month before the public, so Dec 1 in this case (I still need to use up a lot from the holiday mini so I'm going to resist...I think...). Dec 1 will also be pre order for SAB and you can buy them too although I never do, I earn them anyway during SAB time so I save my money but I'm a hobby demo.
As far as the big catalog, they release only a handful of stuff for us to pre order...NOT the whole thing, which is what I was expecting but some stuff is better than none! And you can order a level 2 and 3 hostess set as well (however you can NOT pre order hostess sets from the minis, you must earn them when the catalog goes live). Hope that was semi-coherent...must get to bed!
I was seriously thinking about it but do not want to give up my blog or the two DT's that I am on. It would be nice if you could just have your original blog and then have a SU blog that had only the SU products used etc. and your original blog for everything else you like to use and do. Oh, well, maybe things will change later and you can.
You don't have to give up your blog. You can have a blog and still make projects with other products on it. You just can't actively sell, market or promote competing companies product. I don't know how that would work with the DT's (never been on a DT). But, I see lots of demos with blogs that make cards and projects using both SU and other companies. Just food for thought.

Thank you for the answers..I'm so excited! I am on a DT but it's a sketch challenge blog so it's all good..and you can use other companies stamps but you just can't link it, which is no biggie..I did consider all of this before I joined and I'm good with it...tonight's my last link because I don't have my kit yet and I joined The Greeting Farm's blog hop a long time ago, so yay..so come join the hop to win prizes and see all the beautiful cards I'm sure will be displayed...I can't wait to get my kit and start playin!
