My dear friend Anna has great and wonderful ideas - we applied for a grant to put together tubs of paper and equipment to make RAK cards, we will have kids make the cards and have several local buisness that will have a basket of cards availiable for people to pick from and the children will be able to take one of the creations home to send to someone that could use some cheer.
Anna was so excited that she called me at 7:30 this morning to give the news.
Now - if anyone has any suggestions on cards, packaging, material purchase etc. I would love to hear them
THanks!!
WHOO HOO the RAK idea continues on!!!

How awesome. Kudos to the grant writer. They are not easy to do. I have a few ideas. I don't know how you will like them, but here goes:
I bet teachers in schools would be glad to help you with this as an art project, community affairs, etc.
1. Childrens wards at hospitals.
2. Convelescent Centers and Upper Level Care Centers.
3. Ronald McDonald Houses near you.
4. They could be sent to Sereikastamper's card project for troops in Iraq and
5. Monica's Cards for Troops at Walter Reed Hospital.
Both addresses for the last two are on the announcement pages.
We made a card out of the current SU RMHC stamp set. It's on pg 116 in the current catalog. I started out with a standard card, and choose a mat for my stamped image. I stamped the image in blck on white cardstock. I then tied two crayons that matched my cardstock colors to the bottom of the card so she could color the card herself. My 6yo thought it was the neatest card. I think they would make great cards to give to children in the hospital, RMH, or anywhere else. You could really use any stamp set that would need to be colored in. Just a thought.
I just have to say CONGRATULATIONS! I've written grants in the past and they are not easy to get. My hats go off to you and your friend for an ingenious idea! Please keep us updated on how it works. I'd love to try something like this in my area.
I work in education and my life is spending grants. But I have no clue how you would go about doing this. Care to share your story. A group of the ladies from church and I have started a program where we can take supplies out to a home that houses CPS kids for 90 days. I have been eating the cost on my own. And up until recently was paying taxes on my SU stuff. Not that I care much, because I just think of it as an extended offering but I would love to be able to afford to do so much more with these kids. Some of them really need to know someone cares. Any advice?

God will bless you in your work. It sounds like He already has! The best thing about stamping is that the art is already done. It's easy to produce attractive items. The kids must feel so successful after spending time with you and your stamps.
Do you have a local or community newspaper you could request your story be included in? That might drum up support from local businesses in providing materials to you. As for where to take them, lots of great suggestions already posted but shelters for women, children, homeless teens would also be great. If you are involved in a church, cards to the elderly or to missionaries would also be appreciated, I'm sure. Do you have a Kinko's or publishing company in your area? They might be able to supply you with papers or something.

Thanks for sharing this uplifting story!!
He blesses me daily!!! Thank you.
