I better get mine listed right away! That would buy alot of nice Christmas gifts (the reason I sell on Ebay) I would hate to be the seller. If I listed another and it only went for $30.00 I would be very disappointed.

Are retired SU! stamps valuable relics and we JUST DON'T KNOW!??

Maybe I should list some of my retired sets...but with my luck, they'd sell for $1.00, or nobody would want them.

If a bidder makes a bid for a certain amount, they can also bid a proxy that says "I'll go as high as"... ebay only shows the win amount, so most likely, both bidders had proxy's but the winner (the same individual in some cases), had their proxy set higher. It looks like they're bidding against their own bid, but they're not. HTH

wow, I've got that chore chart set, too. never even used it. :( wonder if I should put it up for sale? I've thought about it! I wish I'd seen this one closer to it's actual bidding time. I'd definitely have put it up then, so the losers could have run up my set, too!!!

It's a balancing act, Shelley. You can list with a super-low start price to attract interest in your auction, but there's always the risk that there will only be a few nibblers. A couple of sellers have gotten burned lately, and tried to back out of transactions where they think the item sold for too little -- of course then they get slapped with a non-performing seller penalty, and it only takes a few of those to get suspended from eBay.

I just listed my old Snow Globe set last night, and this morning it had been bid up to $30, which is 30% more than I paid for it when it was new! I'm a bit nervous about this bidder because she doesn't have any feedback yet, and an uncomfortable percentage of newbie bidders end up being NPBs. If she's legit, though, then this set alone is already covering nearly half of the Holiday Mini order I just sent to my demo! Between that and the sets I sold last week, I have money now to put toward an order at my upcoming stamping party in a couple of weeks!

I know that Ebay will take a decent cut of that winning bid with all the fees they charge. I love some of the older more rare stamps and have paid a higher than normal price for a few of them on ebay but even I wouldnt pay that much especially for that. that being said, if you have some of these old ones from 1998 let me know - Treasured keepsakes, old fashioned stove, toybox, party animals - ;)
