I use Whisper White more often than Very Vanilla, but it really depends on what I'm making. I think I'd go with WW first and then add the Very Vanilla later HTH
For more distressed and vintage looks I like using Vanilla and for nice crisp, clean cards I like to use White. Sorry...probably not a lot of help. ;) If you are just start you may like to try white first.
I would advise you to get Whisper White first... it's a staple supply item and you will use it a lot. I love and use both but I started with White. You can always sponge color on to your white cardstock to tone it down if it's too bright but there's really nothing you can do to make vanilla more "crisp".
If you can swing it, I would suggest both. Then, possibly save $$, by buying non SU envelopes at a scrapbook store with a coupon, in both White and Ivory. You will find you will need both as staples in your stamping.
I would say if you can't do both, get the whisper white, I find with whisper white, I can stamp linen on it, in the color I am using, and it tones down the white a lot. Looks great. I use vanilla, but only when I want a softer look.

I think it depends on the other colors you have. I use a lot of vanilla with my earh elements, and tend to use white with the regals or subtles. If you are not sure, I'd get white first.
I would use vanilla most. Actually, I don't have any of the SU cardstock, have tons of other cardstocks, but find I use vanilla colored cardstock way more than white.
I use white more than vanilla. Lately though, I've been using vanilla for thanksgiving cards. Like another poster said, you can always "tone down" white.
I would get white first but is it possible to find someone to share the cardstock with and get both and split it so each of you have some white and some vanilla?:???:

Very very good idea!!! Although I already voted for white, I'd like to change my vote for this choice. If you can do this, it's the best of both worlds (for 2of you!!!)
I'm going to have to go against the grain here and vote for Vanilla. I used Vanilla exclusively until I finally decided this week to try White - and I wish I had ordered another pack of Vanilla instead! The white is much too stark for my taste, and the Vanilla is just lovely.
I've quit using WW and Vanilla most of the time and use the Confetti White and Confetti Cream. I'd get the Confetti White first. The Whisper White just doesn't seem to cut smoothly. The Confetti is thicker and cuts much better!!!
