Default Where is the strangest place you've had to go to stamp?

Good morning,

I was curious to see if I am the only person that has gone someplace odd to get a stamping project done.

I was up way too early for a Saturday (6:30AM) and decided to work on my mom's Christmas cards. I accomplished a lot, but couldn't set the eyelets this early in the morning because I live in an apartment and my DH is still asleep (plus my neighbors would probably kill me ) !!!

I decided to take my Crafter's Tool Kit, Silver Eyelets and the pieces that needed the eyelets (already punched and ready to go) to my CAR !!! It actually worked out wonderfully because I have a mini van with a flat area on the dash on the passenger's side. Now my eyelets are set and I can start adhering everything !!!

Any other weirdos out there ?!?

I finished putting some cards together at the dentist's office in the waiting room. Does that count? Finished putting the layers on, signed and addressed them. The hygienist was very impressed! I always take a few mini catalogs when I go, but I haven't gotten any business there....yet!

In July I traveled five hours to meet up with some friends in Eureka Springs, Arkansas (they traveled from central Missouri) to stay in one of the Crescent Hotel's haunted suites. We were there to get a jump on our Christmas cards and to see some ghosts. I guess we should have been stamping Halloween cards.

I've done stamping in my office at work before. My upline works with me and a couple of weeks ago I showed her how to do a mat board journal in her office! We did the entire thing there except the holes...too noisy for work!

A couple of years ago, we had a big snowstorm in March and lost electricity for a couple of days. I had a swap due and needed to finish embossing, so I raked a couple of coals out of the fireplace and used them to melt the embossing powder. So my strangest place is on the fireplace hearth.

nothing strange for me, but my friend wanted privacy and for her kids to leave her alone for awhile, so she went in her laundry room, and made cards on her washing machine, while sitting on her dryer!!

I don't know if this counts but I thought it was a murphys law kind of
thing. I was planning on finishing 30 card fronts, putting them on a folded card to make a complete card to give as gifts. I brought all the stuff
to my 2nd to my last chemo treatment, I have a port, so my hands are free and I thought I could get lots done. I set up on a table that attaches to the front of the recliner I sit in, they did all the preliminary drug administering, finally my nurses and I were both ready to get to work.
They attached my chemo drug, I was 2 way gluing away my card fronts. When out of the blue, I get a stomach ache, my chest tightens and my face gets flush, I was having a serious allergic reaction! Before my face gets flush I call out to my nurse something is wrong, and they get in there to disconnect the drug and pump in the benadryl. I came out of it just fine, but I was so disappointed that I didn't get to do my cards! Plus this was the first time my husband was able to come with and sit with me, and
he got a real show! So after that I didn't bring much to stamp, or glue.
Wouldn't you just know it!
It wasn't really a weird place to stamp as what weird happened, but
thanks for listening.

I stamp and scrapbook all the time at the hockey rink, while the kids are at practice. Doing this has created new customers for me.

Not very strange but had to get some things done so I was tying and adhereing bows in the pick up line at my daughter's preschool - totally free of interuption!

I'm always cutting images or tearing pieces of c/s or some other part of a larger project during gymnastics lessons or swimming lessons.

My SIL has a son who swam for his college team before graduating (go WY Cowboys!!) Anyway, she would always take her cross-stitch with her to the meets, because, she figured her son was only swimming for about 5 minutes out of the 3-4 hours she was there.

Right now, it's just lessons for my kids, but I bet as they get older and I'm doing more and more sitting, I'll take more advanced things, like cardfronts to color in, things that need to be adhered to each other, and stuff like that.

I take projects on the go quite a bit. The park in the warm months and the pool. Swimming lessons, batton lessons, dance and gymnastics. You name it and I'm pulling out something to be mounted stamped or colored.

I ran into a customer of mine in the park. She lived in a totally different town and found her way to the middle of our subdivsion where to this particular park out of 5 to choose from. She was astounded that I really do stamp everywhere I go! LOL

I stamped at a blood drive in the canteen area. The sons of a donor stamped cards with me.

I was walking my three little boys home from school with my golden retriever on his leash.

My friend loaned me her fiskars paper cutter for my stamp club, then she handed a book for me to return to another neighbor.

She then handed me her jumbo wheel, cartridge and handle and asked me how to use it.

I guess this doesn't count because I couldn't actually stamp, my hands were too full and I didn't really have a good surface other than the book.

Farther on the way home another neighbor handed me a stamp set a bag of raffia.

What a great street I live on we have a lot of SU enthusiasts and we all share trade and borrow.

That is my story!

I once finished stamping, and assembling 6x6 pages for a swap in the lobby of my kids pediatrition's office. I was in a hurry becaus I had to mail them that day, and I didn't have much time to spend at home. I dropped them off at the post ofice on my way home later that day! it sure made the wait more fun.

We had a stamp-a-thon at work last year to make cards to send out to clients. We set up in the kitchen, which only has a round table because there were only 3 of us.....at first. We all bring our stuff, so we had 3 people's stuff spread everywhere & then had 8 or 9 more people come! I can't stand having someone really close because I like to spread out so I moved out into the hall & used the bench under the hooks that serve as the employee closet for coats. I sat on the floor & stamped away, only getting up to use my heat gun becasue there wasn't an outlet right there.

I've also taken stuff camping, to my inlaws, set eyelets in DH's workshop& mounted stamps in the car.

I stamp with a group of friends at an old train station. We set up tables in the waiting room, and sleep over in the section house. It is a really beautiful setting , especially when there is a ton of snow outside! (and minus 40C like my visit!)

Default Unusual Place to Stamp

The most unusual place I stamped was at a table along the pool side at a motel. Yes, when I had just signed up as a demo I wanted to make some "Set Samplers" and get projects ready for my first workshop. My husband had to go on a business trip and invited my teenage son and myself. I wanted to go but I was stressed about getting all this stamping done. We were there for four or five days and our son spent many hrs. at the indoor pool so that's where I did most of my stamping. I was hoping to get some contacts from people watching but unfortunaley there weren't any other people around during the day. Carol

When I was a fairly new demo I did a workshop at a Legion club in the bar! The hostess lived in a trailer house and although there were a few people at the bar it was pretty quiet there. I'm not sure I'd do that again though!

For you guys that take your stuff to other places, like the dentists office, what do you use as your surface? I was looking at the cropper hoppers in the catalog tonight and thought they might work good for that. Alas, I've only taken things in my living room on the coffee table. I was the group leader of one of my church's small groups. I had a swap to prepare for so I asked if they minded if we talked while I stamped. They encouraged me to. I had the stuff out when they got there and was going to put it up but they kept telling me to go ahead. So we had our discussion while I stamped.

This is my first post... how fun! I sooo love this site!

I stamp all over the place, or I'll cut and mount stamps when that needs to get done. I've stamped at car dealership or oil change place while they're working on my car, at the salon with foil in my hair, at the doctor's office, at classes or seminars during breaks.

A book would probably be easier to transport now that I think about it. Oftentimes, though, it's when I have to get something done for a customer or a workshop.

People look at me strange. For most of them, curiousity takes over and they will eventually ask what I'm doing. It's a great way to talk about stamping (especially since I'm a demo).

Outside of the post office in my car. I was putting the finishing touches on a bunch of swap cards that needed to go out that day. I take procrastination very seriously...But, I'll tell you about that later...

I worked at a bank and we had white envelopes for the money to go into to give to the customer so I took my stamps and ink pads and stamped all the white envelopes then when I got bored with that I stamped the
receipts. Some of the business owners that came in regularly to make depsoits would ask for stamped envelopes instead of the white ones.
I even saw some customers come back and send in their stamped envelope I was just trying to put some sunshine in everyones life.

Swaps are my downfall. I was trying to finish up some on a trip and when we stopped to get gas, I jumped out of the car and kneeled down on the pavement and started setting eyelets. We got 20 gallons of gas and a bunch of weird looks but I got those little green babies set and finished the swap on time!

Well, if you must know......I stamp in my Garage. I have to pull out my DH truck in order to move around! I have my set up in there. That is where I hold my stamp camps and clubs too. Everyone thinks its great, but most of the girls tell me that their DH would never give up their garages.

I have also had to stamp on my washing mashine!! At least it is good for something.    It is sad to have to move your stuff to do laundry. Ever since we had our second child and I lost my craft room I have been a wandering stamper. So sad.
