Default Where to find "emery boards"

Good morning! So, I use these"emery boards" to sand the sides of my cardstock after I cut it to smooth it out before layering on my card base. I got several at a scrapbook store. I now cannot find them anywhere. My friend said she has used regular emery boards but they leave a brown residue on the cardstock. The ones I am talking about are usually about 7 inches long and decorated with flowers, etc. Anyone know where I can find them and what they are actually called? I have tried emery boards or sanding tools, but no luck! Thanks in advance. I don't want to spend $18.00 to go to a craft expo just to buy these!

Would the nail files you can find at department stores work? I've seen pink ones and also decorated ones that are not flat like the brown emery boards. They have a layer of (something) between the two lays of very fine sanding paper.

(They are the same files that a nail tech uses in a nail salon)

I purchase mine at a dollar tree, for crafting and personal use.

I buy mine at Sally Beauty Supply. Don't remember what I pay but they are cheap. Also, you do not have to be a beautician to shop there. They are the same thing you buy at LSS, online stores but cost less.

I buy these at Michaels in their dollar bin (now $1.50 in our area). They come in a two pack and colors/designs change with the seasons.

You can also try stores like Meijers/Walmart/Target. Prices range from $1.50-2.00 but they have all different types ($99 for the traditional black ones with the grit) but the others (white back ground with different designs range from $1 up). You might even can find some at your local Dollar Tree or Beauty Supply store.

Good Luck

You could get a sanding block from home hardware store, you can get different grades of coarseness and there are more surfaces to use.

E-Bay has quite a few choices and some are really cheap. So does Amazon, but they are a bit more expensive. Not an emery board, but I also buy the superfine sand paper from the hardware store.

Thank you all so much! I guess I had a "senior moment". Emery boards, beauty supply, yeah, duh! I just paid off my credit card and vowing not to charge or buy anymore supplies the rest of the year. Going out to Walmart and Sally Beauty Supply since they are in the same shopping center.

I like the white manicure blocks because they don't transfer color. They are super cheap on amazon. They're just like the ones Stampin' Up used to sell.

Plus the blocks are good for doing surface sanding to expose inner layers on paper or metal.

I use something similar and love them. You can buy them cheap at Sallys and they have a polar bear on them. They are bigger at Sallys.

I went to a Womens' fair a few years ago and told the ladies I went with in advance, "if you see a booth giving away free emery boards grab one for me please".

I now have a small jar of them sitting on my desk ready to use.

I get them at Dollar Tree. A 2-pack for $1. Cute designs and I also make fun holders for them and give them as little gifts for my Red hat friends. The holders are similar to the Twizzler holders that I saw made with Stampin Up products.

I use a sanding stick; used by modelers for wood, paper, plastic, cardboard, etc. Easy to handle and have replacement sanding belts in various grits to suit your needs. My husband is a model railroader and got them for me to use with sanding paper goods.
Works great. Depending on the grit you get, you can use to smooth out paper edges or rough them up..they come in different sizes and colors based on your needs and grit you want to use.
Source is Woodworking Plans & Tools | Fine Woodworking Project & Supplies at Woodcraft or Amazon. Google "modeling sanding sticks". Hobby stores have them also
