Default When sending a card to a fellow stamper...

I recently joined the RAK group and being in the habbit of sending cards more often, RAK or not, it's got me wondering the proper way to send a card to a fellow stamper. See I almost always write on the card I've made. over 90% of the time I've made that card specifically for someone so the idea that they might reuse it doesn't come into my head. However I've notices in the few RAK's I've received they have been blank cards with a message on a post it.

I feel funny about giving a card I didn't make since almost everyone I give them to knows I make my own and always asks "oh did you make this?"

Should I not be writing in my cards? What do all of you do?

I voted yes because I typically won't send a card to someone (with writing) that I, myself, didn't make... I doubt a "stamper" would send out a card to someone they know (family/friend) NOT made by them, so I'd go ahead and write in it... Curious to see what others say...

I always used to write in them, but when I got some that were not written in, but a separate note enclosed, I thought that was a good idea. I put my note on a post it inside, and it seems to be very much appreciated!

My thought on this~~ it depends on the purpose of the card...for someone's b-day or something particular I'd definitely do a sentiment and write in the card, but if it's just wanting to share a design for no particular reason then I wouldn't then the recipient has the choice to either use it or keep it.

If it is for an occasion like a b-day etc I will personally make and send but if it is just an I am thinking of you etc or last min I will use a card that I have received as a rak etc.

Simmilarly I write in the cards I send when it for an occasion but if it is with a rak I do not!

when sending to a fellow stamper i usually will write the message on the back of the little poem... i found this here on SCS

I didn't sign this card
before I sent it off to you...
Instead it holds my warmest thoughts,
Invisible but true.
And if you find a time you need
to brighten someone's day...
Then take this card and sign it
and send it on its way.

If it's for an occasion to someone I know, I write in it. If it's simply a RAK, I put a post it inside.

If it is a RAK to someone I do not know, I will usually right a note on a post-it. That gives them the option to re-use or donate it. Most of the RAK's I have received have been the same way. If it is a card to someone I know I write directly on the card.
I guess when you think about it, it is kind of odd not to write on the card, but I started doing it since it seems like that is what others did.

I sometimes write inside, but more often I put the little poem listed above. Partly, I am lazy, and don't have to think of what to say.

I tend to write on the card if the cardstock is light colored. If it's a dark color then I insert a piece of white paper and write my letter on that. That way they have the option of putting a different piece of paper inside and using it themselves or just saving it. I never think people are going to throw away my cards because I work so hard on them. But, I guess some people do. I just don't want to know about it. Does that make me selfish?

When making my cards for my COTM I don't write in it, I put on a separate paper what I need to tell the receiver of the card. I only wrote in a card I make my bf.

I love that poem! Like others, I only write on the card if it's for an occasion. I send payment to my demo with a card I've made for her. I try to use all SU stuff, obviously, and hope that she can use it to show her other customers what can be done...or give her the option of reusing it.

I think it is so nice to receive a RAK that has a sticky note on the inside so I can reuse it. That is super nice to get!!

I always write in the card. That's what they're for, I thought. If a stamper really wants to use the card again, she could just use the card front I guess. I keep all of the cards that I get that are handmade and appreciate the notes inside. JMNSHO

I don't write on my RAKs and I appreciate getting ones that haven't been written on.

I definetly send out the RAKs I get that are reuseable- sometimes I just don't have time to make a card!

Oh, good question OP!

I just signed up for the RAK as well, so I want to be up to speed on what is normally done.

I always sign my work (cards) on the back. Do I still continue to do this even though my RAK receiver may use it to send to someone else?

Things that make you go Hmmmmm......?

Once in a great while I'll sign a card but 9 times out of 10 I'll put a white insert in it and write on it. That way, they can pull that one out, insert thier own and reuse. I've also put the little poem in some. I hate to see a card "languishing" in someone's drawer when it could be used to spread a little more cheer.

I usually write in them. I personally wouldn't send or give a card to someone that was handmade that I didn't make.

I use post-it notes.

I donate cards I've received as RAKs that come with post-it notes. Sometimes I can't part with them, but I'd rather that they get lots of use.

It all depends on the reason for the card. Just like others have mentioned. But if the card is written on and someday I may want to use it then I can always just use the front of the card.

Post it note for me. I figure, I took the time to make it, it would be nice if the person I sent it to passed it to someone else. More mileage

For me it depends on the reason that I'm sending the RAK...if it's to cheer someone up, or wish them better health, or even congratulations on "whatever", I'll usually write in the card. But, if it's just a general RAK that I'm sending to someone on a RAK list, I usually include a poem about RAKs on a separate piece of paper and enclose that in the card, giving them the option of keeping it or 'paying it forward'.

Sarah~
It does depend. If it is made for "so and so" for there "whatever" then I will write in it. When sending RAK's I also use a post it note. I used to save all of mine for samples so it worked out well, and then donate them on also.
There are no rules in the RAK game, so do what you prefer!

I like to write in my cards. Cause it's more personal to me to do this.

I also have a Stamp that say's "Created By Nancy B"
And then I usually add the month and year that I made the card.

If I am doing a Swap then NO I don't write anything inside. I attach a note

That poem is cute. I sometimes write on a post it note
"This card is for you
But when you're done
rip off this sticky
and send it on"

Especially if I'm sending it to somebody in a nursing home since they don't have a lot of extra money to buy cards for people.

Personally, I don't like post-its, especially the yellow ones. If I want to personalize a card yet allow to be re-used, I insert a blank piece of paper secured with photo corners, and write on that. If they want to reuse the card they can just replace the white insert.

I use my slit punch and insert a piece of card stock on the inside which can be pulled out easily and replaced if the person I'm sending it to wants to use the card again.

I always sign the back of my cards, they know they are handmade. The inside, most of the RAK's have a Post-it-Note inside.

To me, the best loved cards are shared! If it goes on to brighten someone else, that's the best compliment one can ever receive!

It really depends on why I am sending it to another stamper. If it is to share something personal for illness, encouragement, etc. I write inside. If not then I may use a post-it.
