Just wondering what the different views on mailing Christmas cards were. I have no idea when to mail mine and was wondering when everyone mails theirs? At least then I will have a round-about date.
I usually mail mine between 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before christmas that way if people display them they are up for a little bit especially when some families do Christmas a week or 2 before christmas.
I start receiving them any time after Thanksgiving. I think if you wait too late, people don't look at them as closely and appreciate them as much because they get several on the same day. JMHO! :-)

I try to mail mine usually the 2nd week of December. I think anytime after Thanksgiving is fine. I love to start receiving them soon after Thanksgiving.

I'm with you, Quiltnstamper! I haven't even started making mine yet! Good thing I have a very small family! LOL! Plus, I know who appreciates the handmade ones, the rest get store bought. Hmmmm, THAT doesn't sound like a very "Christmas-like" attitude, does it?
When I get them done! I don't really have a target date since it varies every year, but I do try to get them out before the 25th. I have all my cards done, now I just need to address all the envelops, sign the cards, and get a picture of the kids to include. I'm starting to think making them is the easy part:rolleyes:

I usually mail mine the Monday after the first full weekend in December--does that make sense?????????????????????? so, mine will be going out a week from today.
I start receiving my first ones the week after Thanksgiving - and I know whose will be first too!! Mine didn't go out until Dec. 18th last year (well, considering I moved Dec. 15th, that's not too bad), but that was WAY late for me! I usually like to send mine about 2 weeks before.
I always mail mine the Friday after Thanksgiving..then on to Valentines cards...lol
It is always a race between myself and my three sisters to see who gets theirs out first...I usually win.
Blessings.
I'm still making mine and it will be over a week before they are finished. On the other end, I GOT my first one the Friday after Thanksgiving!!! (Not handmade, lol.)
Thank you all for your input. I am going to try to finish them up by Wednesday the 10th and mail them then by the 12th. I am making a huge amount this year to send to my fellow RAKers and my goal is to send one to everyone on the list. I hope I can do it.
The Christmas cards I send overseas I try to have in the mail on Dec. 10th. The rest that go to friends locally I get in the mail by the 15th. And Hanukkah cards go out the day that is one week before the start of the holiday, which this year is Dec. 21. And I haven't started making any of them yet this year! Whoops!

I got my first card the Monday BEFORE Thanksgiving. MIne went out today, but I have a few that are going to Overseas addresses and they take a little longer.
Packages, I am sad to say won't go out until closer to the holiday.. but luckily..all of them are domestic this year.
I usually send mine the week after Thanksgiving. They are all ready to go, so sometime this week they will go out. I only send 40, so doesn't take me too long to make them.

We also send ours out Thanksgiving weekend. We'll sit down while the football games are on and sign cards. They'll go in the mail either the Saturday or Monday, except for those folks whose addresses I still have to find.
I try to mail mine out by the 2nd week of December but this year they will be mailed out when they are finished. It's not looking good for mailing next week! LOL Maybe by the 3rd week. If not they will be Happy New Year cards!
most years mine go out around January 5- Jan 10th... just can't get my act together.... BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT -- mine are likely going out next week -- WOW -- impressive for me -- except only I know that these are the ones I made LAST year that I never mailed at all because after spending all the time MAKING them , I couldn't deal with addressing and writing in them as well --- so I guess I ams saying 50 weeks AFTeR Christmas is what is happening in my family!!!

That is too funny. You could also look at it like you are always done a year early. LOL
