...christmas cards??
im not sure if i should make some now, while i am in the mood or not. plus, i have so many assignments to do for school..that i probably shouldnt be making anything:( and i definitely should not be on the computer LOL
so when do you start making christmas cards? have you already started? are there any blogs or inspirations that you use to get the creative christmas mojo juices flowing..?
I am actually hosting a Christmas card swap this year and I have 30 people in it. We are each to make 10 cards a month so we will have plenty by Dec. So far, I am keeping up and have 60 made
I usually don't start mine until the fall/winter cattys are out. I don't get inspired until is see new sets. I actually start in Sept. On cooler days so it feels more like Christmas!

let's see... Christmas is on a thursday this year, so, i probably need to mail them by monday the 22 at the latest, so, i'll probably start the monday before! oh, i'll have every intention of having them designed and made by september, but i know it won't happy
I would love to make them now! But I cannot get in the spirit until I see Christmas stuff in the stores! Maybe I will be more tempted when SU cat comes out as that should have xmas stuff in!! I plan to get mine made in time this year!
All of my Christmas stamps are boxed up and on a high shelf. I was thinking about hosting a "Christmas in July" card making party but so far I'm still just thinking. Maybe I'll get around to working on it after I get the June birthday cards done. . .
I haven't even thought about Christmas cards yet! I better start soon or people will receive them after Christmas, which is what happened last year! Maybe if I can start doing one or two a week...
Mine are already done! I has nothing to do and was feeling inspired, so I sat down and made a whole bunch of them. They're already stored safely for when Xmas arrives.
I will usually start thinking about it after the new catty comes out but actually start on them end of October beginning of November and finish them about a week before Christmas. I make our family one and than I make about 35 for DH to take to work.

Reason: spelling
I always come up with the "idea" for the card in January and start them by the end of January. Generally they are all finished by the end of summer except for bows/embellishments that need to be done later due to storage and/or glue issues.
Two of my friends also come up with our "main" Christmas gift idea on Dec 26th and have them completed by June
I have good ideas and intentions of starting early say in June or July however reality is end of November or middle of December. However there was that one year when I broke my ankle (my 40th birthday) and I wasn't able to do work or walk on the leg. I had my Christmas cards done along Thanksgiving, Holloween and Thank you cards for people attending my birthday party. That was the only year that I did all those cards. I do not recommend breaking an ankle to get the cards done.
Part of me wants to start making Christmas cards now, but in all honesty, I know that in a few months I will see all the fabulous new holiday stamps and papers and embellishments and just have to get it, so that I will end up not really using the ones I make now with last year's "old" stuff...
My friend and I were discussing this today and we are going to get started. I have to make mine, my Dad's, my brother's family and a friend"s, so I need to start well in advance.
I won't make them till November, mostly, but if you're in the mood now, I'd say go for it. Carpe Diem and all that!!
I already have my stamps for this years cards - I usually buy something I really like in the sales after Christmas, LOL. I'll probably make the odd individual one along the way, but my main production line definitely won't be till November, got to wait till Halloween is over before Christmas starts.
I've joined the Christmas card challenge here on SCS for the past two years. I make 10 cards per month, January through October. By the time the holiday craziness hits, I'm done! Lots of great inspiration on those challenge threads too.

I've made quite a few already (maybe 50) and will ultimately send about 100 for the troops to use and keep about the same amount for my use. There are quite a few in my gallery. Most will be made around August/Sept/Oct, though. In Oct I start Christmas gift projects, so the cards sort of need to be done by then!
I just finished last night, but that is unusual for me. A friend invited me to come to a fund raiser crop. I only do digital scrapbooking now, but a day hanging out with friends sounded fun. I worked on Christmas cards so I would not have to take a lot of different papers and stamps. Now I just have to find a safe place to store them where I will find them at Christmas time.
I was inspired by the Christmas challenge thread.. for all of ten minutes.. I got my first set of ten..started...
My plan is to make more than the 35 I actually need for family and friends and give the rest to the troops. But I will most likely wait until the new catalog comes out to decide on the actual extent of my creativity. the ones I have started are extremely simple..not a layer to be found, just some embossing of giant snowflakes.
I actually own only two holiday sets, and I am bored with them right now, so I am hoping I am inspired by new sets.
I just spent a whole day this past week making Christmas cards! It's because a lot of the publications are looking for Holiday cards right now (most calls are 6 months in advance.) I've had Christmas music in my head the whole week because of it...kind of annoying, ha ha!
I would love to make them now! But I cannot get in the spirit until I see Christmas stuff in the stores! Maybe I will be more tempted when SU cat comes out as that should have xmas stuff in!! I plan to get mine made in time this year!
That is the same way I feel. Unless I play Christmas music while stamping. I can't see myself doing this is the middle of our heatwave.

I used to do a Christmas stamp-a-stack at the end of November. But, last year, I started a 5 cards/$5 in July (just 1 card) and did a different card each month. I usually had 15-20 attend each month. They all said they loved it, because they would have 25 made by November.
I start thinking and designing my Christmas cards in early November. Since I put a photograph on the front of mine, I need something that fits the holiday as the backdrop. In the past I've used a wreath hung on someone's front door if we don't have any snow yet. I only use stamps as an embellishment. Photo and sentiments are the focal point of mine. I also don't mail mine till December 15th.
Last year I did something that worked out really well for me. In September, I began giving every challenge card I created a Christmas theme. By mid December I had an assortment of 75 unique Christmas cards to send out to friends and family without the rush and stress of creating cards during that already busy season.
I plan to do the same again this year except I will make two of each card as I go so I'll finish even sooner!!
I didn't make any last year because we went to Disney right after Thanksgiving, and I had my daughter two weeks later. Procrastinated too long. BUT, I usually start sometime in late September or early October.
I usually start some time in the summer (this year, I actually started a couple of weeks ago and have 25 done except for adding the stickles!) and try to be finished by the end of September.

I always have good intentions of starting around Halloween, but usually end up making them in the first two weeks in August. This year I really am going to try to make them early so I can enjoy the season and have time for other craft or social activities. It gets pretty stressful around my house when I go into major production mode so close to Christmas. Maybe I will join that challenge...it's just soooooooooooo HOT here that I have a hard time thinking about Christmas.
I start when I get some new Christmas sets from the new SU catalog, so that's in August this year. I HATE mass-producing cards, so most of my Christmas cards or one-of-a-kind, but I do make up to 5 or 6 of some of them. So out of 110 Christmas cards, last year I made 52 different cards.

I start figuring out some designs and colors in February/March so that I can order cardstock early. I just received one order of cardstock and will start making some probably next week. I do have about 10-12 already made. Then, when the new catty comes out, I see if there are any new stamps I like to make a few more Christmas designs. I usually have about 6-10 different designs by the time I mail them out. I just can't seem to stick to 1-3 designs no matter what.

I have made 100 Christmas cards for the last 3 years. I usually "start" sometime in March and come Nov and Dec., I am stressed out because I haven't finished them and then I am so stressed because of them, I am sick of them. Therefore, I am not making them this year...I am going to take a pic of DS and order cards from Walmart. It will be less stress on me. I really enjoy making cards, just not the 100 of the same thing that I have to do for Christmas.

I always think that I will make Christmas cards but then I don't since I have two kids and we use a picture of them for Christmas. For my MOPS group and Bible study I make cards but it's usually not until the last minute. All though I got thinking I could make cards that hold a wallet size photo of the kids. Nahhh to much work! It's too early for me to think about Christmas.
I started in March this year. I make around 100 cards - 80 for me and 20 for my Grandma. So, I am off to a great start! Then I can focus on some small gifts for exchange in November and early December. Have a great day!
I was actually thinking about starting soon. I had a great idea that ended up not being so great last year, but by the time I got started I had to go with it because it was too late to think of anything else. So, I know what I want to do for my cards this year, and since I've chosen something pretty ambitious (criss cross cards for everyone!) I think I'd better get started....
