I got a really great RAK today from jenny2mac with a letter she had printed out inside telling me about her and hubby and life outside of Splitcoast-what a great idea! I was tickled to hear she is an attorney/lobbyist in Washington, DC!! How very cool!
Then it got me to thinking about what careers a lot of other members on this site might have. I know there are a lot of demos and SAHMs, (like me) etc but it is so fun for me also to imagine the firefighter, brain surgeon, police officer, zookeeper, and so on that races home each day, takes off their hat /gloves/ handcuffs in a mad rush to get started stamping!! LOL! I love the shared similarites but also the diversity of our stampin community!
In my "former life", I spent my first four years out of college (University of Texas) as a manager and trainer for one of Gallup Poll's interviewing centers. I quit after I got married and spent a year in technical recruiting, but decided to leave the rat race as my DH and I planned to start a family and stay home to raise our children, so I worked as a nanny for two wonderful families for the next 18 months, during which time I got pregnant with my darling son Jonathan who turns 2 tomorrow! (BTW, What a wonderful expereince and good practice that was! I highly recommend it) I worked up until the day I had him, and have never looked back, never missed "work", and absolutely love being a SAHM(whihc we all know is a lot of work!), one who made time for little else but simply enjoying my family. Then in March 2003, I attended my first SU workshop: WELL! The moment the demo (now my upline) finished the first card a huge light from above illuminated the table and a hallelujah chorus began to play in the background! (apparently, to ME ONLY though! go figure! ) I had truly found "my calling"!! The rest is history!!
So tell me, WHAT DO YOU DO when you're not STAMPIN?
Melanie - I agree with you. It's so interesting to hear about other stampers. I work part time at the office supply company, Quill. Staples bought us a couple of years ago, but we are still Quill.
Cool Idea!
Besides being a mom to my 3 beautiful children, two boys, Cameron age 15- will be driving soon, may need a different kind of forum for that, lol,
Brock, age 7, and 1 daughter, Paige.
I work full time for Swire Coca-Cola as an office manager, who wouldn't love it, I work with all guys!!
I just started stamping a little over a year ago when a seasoned stamper friend helped me make wedding invites for my neice, (who is more like my daugher). And just got hooked from there.
I have lupus and very advanced form of Rhumatoid Arthritis, so I am on very aggressive treatment, due to my age. Stamping and reading books are my way "of getting away from it all" right now. Dr would like me to quit work, but Im not ready for that yet. Also must add that I am married, for the second time, (yep got it right this time).
We live in Wa State.
would love to hear about you.....................
I'm a preschool teacher.. SO, I have the summers off to stamp all day! Or, get on SCS! Alot of the Moms are stampers too, I get alot of nice stamped gifts, and alot of ideas from them! I've taken stamps to school before and let the kids use them, they love it!
I'm a Sr. Financial Analyst, I crunch numbers for a large medical device company called Datascope.
When I hit the Mega Millions here in New Jersey ($280 million is the Jackpot up for grabs) I will turn my calculator in for a job working with animals. Maybe with $280 million I'll open up my own animal sanctuary (I've already started with 3 dogs and 1 bird..LOL!!)
I have two boys ages 16 and 14, a very spoiled schnauzer and a great husband (we have been married for 18 years). I have been a demonstrator for almost 7 years.

I am the Executive Assistant for 2 VP's at AIG American General in Nashville, Tn. I am married to Aaron (7 years now) and we have one daughter, Ava, who is 5 and will start Kindergarten in the fall. We live in Hermitage, Tn which is outside of Nashville. Aaron is full-time Air National Guard and will be going back to Iraq Aug 3. I have been a demo since July of last year and am ready for my first Convention in two weeks. I love Forensics in any media-books, comics, television shows, anything forensic is all me. Thats about it for me.
Who's next???

Hey Christine! I have dibs on that $280 million!!! They play that in Illinois too. (But when I win, I will buy you the stamp set of your choice from the new catalog )
I work part-time for one of the major (remaining) accounting firms, but they let me work entirely out of my house, which gives me time to do things like be room mother for my daughter's class and, of course, scope out SCS all day. I'm very thankful for this job. My kids will be in 2nd grade and Pre-K this fall.
I'm a database administrator (DBA) for a data integration company, Acxiom, which is headquartered in Arkansas. I have been with the company for 7 years and until the economy took a dive a few years ago ... I absolutley loved it! We have gone through hard times ... pay cuts .. lay offs, etc. We have not been alone .. many companies in my industry have gone through the same crisis. Hopefully, we are on the uphill climb.
I am very fortunate to be home based. Home based for me nomrally means a 60 hour week instead of 40 ... but somedays ... being in your pj's with a cup of home brewed coffee in your hand for the first meeting of the day is quite rewarding!
I have only been stamping for 2 years. And for me and my sister (who is new to stamping as well) - this is the best therapy that anyone could ever ask for! We lost our Mother, sister and our Father wihtin 4 months of each other last year. We have both said so many times ... that creating cards and having an outlet for our emotions has been life saving.
I am single and live with two very old cats. Binky and Sebbie.
I feel very fortunate to have such wonderul "art" at the click of my mouse!
I am a SAHM right now. I generally work as a fed employee with the Dept. of the Interior but for now I stay home and stamp, scrap, and visit SCS. I volunteer with my dd's class at least once a week, and my children and I volunteer at our local animal shelter. We take care of the cats primarily but if the dogs are small enough we take them for walks too. Of course, living up here, all the dogs seem to be huge! lol
I have been married to my dh for 4 yrs and together for a little over 6. I have a son Christopher 10 from my first marriage and a daughter Tara 6.5 from a stupid peter pan theme relationship. My dh works for the National Park Service so we have the opportunity to live and work in some gorgeous places.

I just posted my intro in another thread but here goes.
I work full-time as a secretary at a local high school. I'm working toward my degree in English, so I can teach high school English. I have about 2 years before I'll earn my degree. Since I'm a military spouse, I've had lots of "jobs." They've ranged from fast food when I was younger to a child care center director.
This was a great question to ask!

I work in a medical library. I have turned the "scrapbooking cult" here into stamping addicts. I've noticed that library people are very precise stampers. We all have a hard time stamping an image half on half off or being random when stamping a background. You should see us at stamp camp. Its no surprise to anyone that we work in a library.
I teach part-time at the local community college (math). I taught high school math for 10 years before that and was happy to get pregnant 7 years ago so I had a reason to retire. Burn out. I also coached Varsity field hockey and JV softball. Now I have lots more time to stamp...or at least visit SCS. Oh, and I am raising two autistic boys, with my ever-so-wonderful husband of 8 years.

You guys might think that I am a SAHM, too. . . .but alas, I do work outside of the home! I am the manager of a collection office for a busy group of surgeons. I get to keep up on all the federal guidelines and make sure we are all in compliance, too. It means sitting on the computer ALL DAY long. . . . and you just know that SCS is up and running on my desktop at least 8.5 out of the 9 hours I'm at work every day! If I'm in a crunch time, like the end/beginning of a month, notsomuch, but still have to check what's up here!
I have been married to Mike for 10 years, and we have two children. Chandler is 6, and will be going into first grade this fall. Adrianna is 4, and is such a saucy little handfull that won't start kinder till next year. They attend daycare while Mike & I work, and absolutely LOVE it there. I am happy they have a safe, fun place to be while we are not with them, and *so* appreciate child care workers. I am constantly amazed at the amount of patience they show!
I've been a demo with SU! since last spring. It's been a wild ride. I signed up for the discount (didn't we all?), and my business has taken off. I love to do in-home workshops and show people how they can create wonderful cards and projects with stamps, ink, paper, and a few accessories thrown in for variety. I further my stampin' knowlege with my "side job" here at Splitcoast, and love to show new stuff to workshop guests.
So, that's me in a nutshell. Great thread, Melanie!
Hi all,
I am an environmental specialist in Oklahoma. This means I inspect and investigate restaurants, day care centers, swimming pools, etc... Most days it is a great job. Have a territory, check in at the office and then am on my own the rest of the day. I have a 9 year old daughter who keeps me busy at the barn. She shows Morgan horses and we travel a lot of weekends to shows. She will also be showing a dog this year, a Border Terrier, and is active in 4-H. I enjoying showing dogs, scrabooks, reading and of course STAMPING!! I have only been stamping about a year and a half, but am hooked! Only wanted to do stamp scrapbook stuff, but now seem to do more cards and other items. Married to my dh for 24 years now. (Yes it can still be done!). Taking a vacation to Kentucky this summer, will have to figure out how to stamp on the road.
I work as the Gifts Processor for St. Norbert College, a small liberal arts college in De Pere, Wisconsin. I enjoy working in a college environment, and have been there for five years. John and I have been married for 21 years and we are the proud "parents" of two Burmese cats, Molly and Lucy.

Hi, I'm Karen, wife to a hard-working firefighter, mom to a busy 5 y.o. daughter and 2 y.o. son, and a staff accountant. I've been a demo since last August and just love everything about SU!
My name is Pam and I live in Plainfield CT. I have been driving school bus for 3 years now. I've been scrapbooking for about 3-4 years and have been invited to many SU "parties" but always declined, because...why would I need stamps. What do you DO with those?? I mean, I'm a scrapbooker, NOT a stamper, RIGHT???? Well, I was once again invited to go to a workshop in August of 2003 and decided....what the heck. So I went and had such a great time. I never knew how much fun you could have with an ink pad and a stamp. Not to mention all the other accessories that we played with that night. Well let me tell you...scrapbooking was then put on the back burner and my life since has been stamps, stamps and more stamps. I'm just recently combining the two together and I love it. I booked my first workshop that night and had a few since then. But once the new year rolled around, I couldn't take it anymore....I JUST HAD TO BECOME A DEMO. I mean with everything you get in the kit plus all the other stuff you can earn, I mean how can you go wrong?? So I officially became a demo in early February and have been having a blast since then. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Pam
I'm a Manager of Financial Reporting for a big hospital here in Albany, NY!!! that's a fancy title for an Accountant  I prepare financial statements for fun!!! I have a son who is 3 years old and a daughter who is 7 months old. I just recently became a SU demo because I needed to do something for myself- but it's very hard to find the time! I just love this site!
Jen
My "real" name is Rebecca - most people just call me Becky. But I do have a TON of nicknames - Rehaba is probably the longest standing - my father started it before I can even remember!
I am a demo, but when I'm not stamping I'm also a private music teacher for children. I teach the viola (looks like a violin, only bigger and it has a lower, deeper sound). I don't have a ton of students right now - only about ten. But that sure beats my high - 40!! The youngest stundent I've ever had was 3, and I don't keep anyone past when they're starting college.
My husband and I have been married a little over two years. And he has never once complained about my addiction to SU! He knows it's nuts like me who make his paycheck. He works in the IT dept. of SU! Since he's the one who got me into this, he knows he's got to support it.
Okay, enough of my rambling saga. . .on to see what else has happened here today!!
Hi there. Well as you can tell from my name, I homeschool my two wonderful, rambunctious boys. We will begin our 4th year in August!! Wow how time flies (when your having fun!)
I also work two times a week at a dealer's only auto auction. It's an interesting job and pays really well for the short time I am away from my little angels.
I have also been a demo for about 2 1/2 years. I absolutely love it! I just hit my first $1000.00 month (last month I missed it by about $14.00. Always... Always check your sales before the end of the month!!)
Anyway, that's me.
I'm a mom to 3, married (2nd time around, new hubby) for 6 years now. I work full time as a Systems Administrator (most days that's fancy talk for someone spilled coffee on their keyboard and now it doesn't work and of course that's my problems so I'd better fix it - or, better yet - "honest, I didn't do anything, the computer just started being all goofy!" as I'm trying to figure out what the heck broke now so I can fix it for them... hee hee - but I do love it!). Been a SU demo for a little over a year now. My SU "business" is more of a hobby, but am trying to build it up!
-Stacey from Winona (the city in Minnesota - and no, not the one in the Route66 song, and not the country singer, or the Indian Princess)
I think that this is a great idea! I work for a large company that supplies
companies with their office supplies. I work in Customer Service but also hande the Accounts Payable Department. I love it. I also am in school but right now I have the summer off. A much needed break!
My name is Melissa and I'm a stampaholic...wait, wrong meeting ;)
I am a quality analyst for the customer service department of an online company. I am 27 have been married 2 1/2 years, but have been with my husband for almost 10 years. We don't have any kids, but we do have a Dusky Conure parrot (that's him on the left) named Dusty.

I also have Lupus (SLE) and was diagnosed almost 4 years ago. Stamping is definitely a way to escape for me as well as to make sure I keep my joints working. Sometimes I don't get to stamp as often as I'd like, due to the joint pain, but I am thankful for everything I am able to do.
Hi! I am a teacher -- and I teach high school special education. I have been married for 23 years to a wonderful, understanding husband. I stayed home for 10 years when the girls were born. I have three daughters - ages 17 (soon to be 18 years old) 16, and 12 (soon to be 13 -- on the same day as the 17 year old becomes 18!!! ). When the baby was in preschool, DH said I had to go back to work because it was too much -- him traveling to make ends meet...so I did.
I have been scrappin' since 1996. I am addicted and would do it all day long if I could! I kept hearing about SU in magazines and couldn't find anyone near me that knew about it. Then one day I ran into an old friend and she gave me the name of her demo. That was in October, 2003. I quickly became addicted and can't stop thinking about stamps and all the stuff that goes with them. (I only stop THINKING about them when I am stamping!!! ha ha ha)
I became a demo in May and have not had too much luck with the business. Everyone has reassured me that it will pick up when the new cattie comes out...I hope so!
This was a wonderful idea....I just assumed you all were SAHMs and got to stamp and play on the internet all day....I have been jealous just thinking about having to head back to the classroom in August!! ha ha
Fun question. I've enjoyed getting to know all of you a little better!
I teach Spanish to the Preschool and Elementary students at my school as well as I am the Director of our Extended Care program. Currently I'm busy with our Summer Camp program-fun stuff! (Tomorrow we're making cards for the troops!)
I was married in December and have taken on a new job which is referred to as "the hardest job in the Navy" which is being a Navy wife. I love it and I'm so proud of what my husband does!
Well I was a credit analyst until YESTERDAY I was promoted to Supervisor I handle the credit and collection efforts for the entire Canadian region, supervise the West, South, and Northeast regions. I work for a company that manufacture the scanners that read barcodes.
End of quarter is extremely stressful but we made our goal $254million! already forecasting dolllares for 3rd quarter! never ends.....
Hubby was in the Navy when we met, now works for the FAA at JFK airport.
I have been a police dispatcher at the Eastern Kentucky University Police Dept. for almost 20 years. Before that I was a dispatcher for a cental dispatch for Police,Fire, and EMS in another county for 2 !/2 years.
I also have a teaching degree in Music Education (didn't have the patience). I'm also a licensed cosmetologist. I'm not physically able to do it anymore, but keep up my license for my own supplies.
I have been married for almost 28 years and have a 27 year old son.
I also play the piano for our church and am the praise and worship leader. Now you know the reason for my aka-stampingsinger. I've been stamping for about 6 yrs. No time to be a demo. Just love to stamp every moment I can.
Am I the only retiree on this BB? Surely not. I'm an "early" retiree and was able to turn in my Human Resources badge at a community college in Southwest Florida about 4 years ago and have never regreted a minute of it. My husband and I had a friend who died at a fairly young age and we looked at each other and said "let's eat beans and enjoy life" and we have. We summer in the cool lush mountains of Western NC and winter in the wonderful warm sun of SW Florida. How can you beat that? Let's hear from other "young" retirees
I work full-time days as a legal secretary at the District Attorney's office in Austin, Tx. I also work part-time (12-24hrs a week) as a reserve paramedic with my hometown EMS service. Being a paramedic is my love, but being a secretary pays the bills. My other interests are WW II medicine and being a gungo football mom.
I married my high school sweetheart and just celebrated our 19th anniversary on June 21st. We have a 15 yr old son who currently is driving me crazy to get his drivers license (no pun intended ) my DH has always been a peace officer and is also employed by the DA's office as the juvenile criminal investigator. It's great working together - I usually go to his office and we eat lunch together too.
Okay for the funny story about how I became an SU demo... My mom received a card from a man she works with and LOVED it. Asked where he found it and he told her his wife makes them. Of course mom called her, was invited to a workshop the following night. About 11pm she called me all excited and tells me she signed me up to become a demo and my kit would be coming soon. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF SU OR STAMPED A THING!!! When my kit arrived I fell in love with SU and stamping. I have a fantastic upline that has made my first year as a stamper and a demo awesome.
As Forrest Gump would say, "And that's all I've got to say about that."

I am a SAHM to Jimmy, 12 this month, Keelia 8 (I laugh at Jenn's description of her Adri as saucy - the best is yet to come!), and Thomas, my surprise 'flu' who will be 3 in September. I work from home as an accountant and keep extra busy preparing taxes from February to April. I signed up as a demo in the spring because my now upline is moving out of state and I need to keep my supply line open. I have benn married to Jeff for 13 years.
I am CEO of a small family business involved in research and development and financial planning.
I have had many other jobs, the best being a Speech and Language Therapist working with pre-school children. But that was before DH moved us over the Atlantic, where I became a TRAD (Tempoarary Resident Alien Dependent), until the two years became permanent and I had to wait another 8 month s before the work permit came through. Since then I have been a pre-school teacher and am now a sub and instructional aide at my children's school. My youngest went into Kindergarten last August which was when I became the sub which lead to the teacher's aide position.
Now that the world is opening up again for me I have too many choices: I have been accepted into a Masters Programme for Education and Teacher Certification, I could stay as a sub and teacher's aide (I hate the politics that go with any job) and now I find out that the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists is close to an agreement with the American Speech Hearing Association for recognition of UK qualifications.
I stamp when I can, but with 3 very intelligent, active children it's hard.
Any suggestions on which way I should go next would be greatefully received!
Cate
Hi everyone, what a great thread! I work as an HR Manager for a lumber company here in Indianapolis with over 400 employees. I have just celebrated my 39th company anniversary(of course started working before child labor laws were passed  ) I am still about 8 years from early retirement, so am envious of those who have taken that plunge. I have been married 30 years last November, and we have one son 28, who just got married last September. Yes I made the wedding invitations, rsvp cards, wedding favors and thank you cards! I signed up as a hobby demo last March, and without even pushing things have had about 8 workshops. I have decided that with the new SU year starting tomorrow, I am going to exert more effort on my SU business, so am looking forward to Convention for inspiration and motivation. I have also just registered a chapter for the Red Hat Society (Red Hat Stampin' Mamas!) for my three sisters and I. We are all stampers/scrappers, so I am hoping for stamps with hats and such in the new catty.
Well, enough rambling! Thanks for starting this thread!

Hi all,
this is so neat to get to know everyone. I have been posting for awhile and realize that I have never introduced myself. So here goes....
I am woring mom with two little boys Jake (5 and goes to Kindergarten in Sept) and Eli (2- and not anywhere near wanting to be potty trained!! )
I am a teacher - or was a teacher - I think I will always think of myself as a teacher - but last year because of declining enrollement in our community I was laid off after 11 years and decided it was time for a change. Currently I coordinater a Pregnancy Outreach Program for Health Canada and also I just got a new job to be the Success By 6 coordinator for our area. The change has been hard but sooooo exciting to challenge myself.
I only started stamping about a year and a half ago, but have been making cards for many years and have "tried" many crafts - I love stamping! An addiction for sure!! I have discouvered you can get a lot done between midnight and 2 am!
Can't wait to hear more from you ladies
Sarah
I am a mom to Justin (6 in 3 weeks and heading to Kindergarten this fall) and Jordan - actress in training at 3 1/2. And wife to Patrick (7 years). This fall I will teach music at our Weekday school; I'm music director at our church, and I have a small group of piano students.
We moved to Charlotte 2 years ago from WV (my first move beyond college away from home) - but Charlotte feels like home. I'm new to stamping, but am really enjoying it and enjoying this site for the ideas and banter! Julie Ann

The smile of a child is music to my ears!
I manage a computer lab at a community center. I even get to help the child care kids learn how to use computers. After 20 years in the insurance industry (yawn!) it is so nice to have this job. Getting hugs is sooooooooo rewarding!
This was a great question! It's so great to get to know everyone a little better.
In theory, I work part-time as an employment litigation attorney for the Los Angeles office of a large Cleveland-based law firm. (I say in theory because part-time to most lawyers is anything under 60 hours a week!)
I'm 35 (well 36 next week!) still single, though hoping that will change soon. My significant other and I are starting to talk about marriage, so who knows.
I've been an SU demonstrator since last October and have loved every minute of it! Should have known I was in trouble when I saw my first SU catalog and wanted everything! (and have done a pretty good job of getting most of it! so much for moderation) I had to become a demonstrator just so I could get the discount. Now I am trying to make more of a business of it, but that's coming along slowly.
So happy for the opportunity to get to know everyone better. The amount of creative talent I've seen displayed here is simply breathtaking!
