I'm considering becoming a demo for Stampin Up! and I'm on a quest to find our what your favorite part of Stampin Up! is, whether you're a demo or just a customer! Let me have it!
i like that the sets coordinate and are typically in the same proportion so you can use them together.
i don't like that they are pricey and unmounted or rubber only is not an option... but this hasn't stopped me from buying stamps.
i like that they have 4 coordinating color families and since I own all for inks and paper, i can coordinate things easily
i like that scs has a SU! gallery so if i buy a stamp set then don't get inspired myself, i know there are a weath of examples here on scs to get me going. i feel like no matter what set i buy, it will never be wasted b/c i'm suffering from a lack of creativity. and i also love that galleries for retired sets remain, since because i am just a customer i do not sell my stamps when they retire.
i don't like (for the demos) that sets retire, and quite a number retire, and now twice a year. to me, that seems hard to keep up with financially, since you wouldn't use your time to demo something retired. then the market is flooded with used stamp sets demos are desperately trying to get rid of- as a customer i can get it cheaper than buying it full price- but that, to me, seems tough on the demo. I'm sure a demo will offer insight on how they counteract that... as I said, I'm not a demo, and I'm sure there are strategies for handling this.
Well, I'm a demo but before that I was a customer!! My favorite part of Stampin Up has always been the stamp sets. The next best thing is all the coordinating products! I love that I can use ink, paper, and ribbon that all match along with coordinating punches and other embellishments (brads/eyelets...). That, to me, tops it off. No other company that I've found yet offers all of that in one place.

just gotta say, when you look at the prices of stamps and stamp sets around, you'll find that SU's prices are comparitive if not cheaper!

Well, each demo has their own way of dealing with this. My way, I only buy sets I like, so even if they retire, it doesn't matter. Financially, you should only spend what you need regardless of whether the sets retire or not. Knowing that the catalogue retires twice a year, plan to budget accordingly!
I have been a demo for the past 5 years. The best part about Stampin' UP! is all the nice people I meet. Not just when I am "selling" my stuff but like on this board. Stampers are just nice people!
What I really like is that the stamps comes in sets. I know some people think they're expensive, but I'd hate think about the expense and time I'd have to put into getting something similar by buying individual stamps here and there.

I'm considering becoming a demo for Stampin Up! and I'm on a quest to find our what your favorite part of Stampin Up! is, whether you're a demo or just a customer! Let me have it!
I'm a hobby demo, meaning that I do a couple of workshops a month, enough to totally cover my minimums *and* pay for my own stamping supplies, but not making enough to live on :-D I have no downline and don't want one. I work a 30 hour per week job besides the farm so I only have so much time to give to it.
The best part is the stamps, of course. The quality is just far above others I've tried. Not to say that all others are bad, they aren't! But SU is superior. That said, I'm not particularly fond of the latest SU trends, so I love the stamps as a product but not always as a design.
The card stocks are unbeatable, in my opinion. I haven't found better anywhere. The ink pads are handy in their unique design and the inks are very good, but there are some other good inks out there too. The match-ability (is that a word?) of the colors and designs are a great asset.
I'm not that 'in love' with their embellishments and find that I purchase a lot of non-SU brads and do-dads.
Hope that helps!

My favorite part of being a demo is being a part of the SU family. I have had such wonderful experiences with SU, and I love sharing it with my customers.
I also love our coordinating paper, ink, and accesories. And, I love our stamp sets!
The color coordination!!
The stamp sets-both the quality, and the way they all go together so well.
I love the sneak peeks!
I love the monthly Stampin' Success magazine
I LOVE that for the past 3 Christmas' they have given us a brand new free stamp set!!
The people I meet!!
I've seen lots of great reasons to love stamping and SU.
I'd like to give you some great reasons to become a demonstrator.
1. going to regionals and convention!!!
2. having a great upline with meetings to go to
3. having a great upline and sharing make and takes with them
4. the discount
5. meeting, and having fun stamping with new people
6. stamping with old friends
7. sharing ideas
I'm just a hobby demo, but can you tell that I just love it?
I have a son with Autism. I joined Stampin Up so I could have some down time, do my own thing.
I only do 1-2 workshops a month. All my commission goes back to buying me more of my hobby. I only buy stamps that I like, so I get lots of use from them.
I joined because I liked the colour families, they never change, so I don't have to replace stock year by year.
Embellishments all match.
Stamps are in sets and co-ordinate.
Catty's have ideas for every stamp set.
Love Regional, and conventions
Great Support and great new extended family and freinds.

I am a hobby demo but my favorite thing and the reason I became a demo (besides the obvious discount) was to get to hang out with other demos in my area. I have 2 meetings that I get to go to every month and one has over 100 (maybe more) members and the other has usually 20 of us and that is a great benefit. We swap and share ideas and create friendships.
For me ... the best part is the people I get to meet:
- customers who become friends (or even acquaintances ... or that I just meet once ... I like people!)
- other demos that I get together with
- SCS friends
- SCS demo friends from other parts of the world that I eventually get to meet in real life
I like the colour families and all the matchey-matchey stuff. I am colour challenged. I like being able to use the families to coordinate - or pull out the colour wheel or chart and find combos that will work.
I like meeting new people through SU!
I like that the sets go together ... otherwise I'd probably pair something kidlike with something formal ... actually I think I DID do that before I found SU!
I enjoy the SU! get-togethers of all kinds where I get to meet new people.
I like having the stamps being delivered to my house instead of going to stores.
I like having classes, teaching, and meeting new people.
I've been a demo for 2-1/2 years now and I ran it as a business for the first 2 years of that. During my business demo days, I loved that the Stampin' UP! name inferred superior quality, ease of use, fun, and good value. I also loved that I made decent money at it - I paid for 2 years of private school for my oldest (the other two weren't in school yet) and I never had to pay for my own supplies. I did this without having a single recruit. I love that SU has so many ways to work this as a business.
As a hobby demo who doesn't do any events at all anymore, I love that the minimums are low and that I get to receive hostess benefits. I love the On Stage magazine. I love receiving free copies of the catalogs and getting sneak peeks.
I am a customer, but I am also planning to sign up as a demo soon. My favorite thing about SU vs. other companies is the cardstock. I have not found any other CS that has the weight and substance that SU's does. There is just no other like it. I also love my stamps and the coordination in sets. Good luck!

I agree with all of the above, but mostly I like SU! because I can make money doing something I TRULY love! Go for it!! You really have nothing to lose.
I also agree with everything that has been said!
I am a demo.... before I had SU I bought all my stamps at Hobby Lobby.... for the price of 1 stamp... I can buy a set. I love that you get 5,6,7,8, even 9 stamps...... in one set! and they are delivered right to my door! I have been so impressed with SU! the discount, the freebies they send me.... the respect they show..... I just love Stampin' Up!!

Did I mention that I like meeting new people?
I'll echo everything that Gail said, especially meeting SCS demos friends at SU events. Gail and I had a good laugh over how to explain to her children that while they should not under any circumstances meet up with people they meet "on-line," it was OK for their mom to share a room with demos she only knew through SCS and had never met before -- LOL!
I love my uplines, sidelines, and downlines -- they have become a second family to me.
I love Stampin' Up! Convention and Leadership and Regional meetings -- I always learn a lot and networking with other demos from across the country or region is invaluable.
I love all the Free stamps I've earned throguh the various incentive programs for demos.
I love the business side of stamping. I love the creative side too, and I stamp every day, but the business side is a heck of a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be.
Really, there's not much I don't love about being a demo. And since there's absolutely no downside to becoming a demo, I really believe everyone should do it as long as they can comfortably afford the price of the starter kit.
My only advice is to pick an upline carefully to make sure the upline is willing and able to provide the kind of support a new demo needs to be sucessful. All uplines are not the same and, however fun it may be, becoming a demo is a business decision. Doing a little research to make sure the upline you're signing under is the right upline for you is a wise busienss investment.
