I have 2 of those Cup holders they have a ring that you can put a bag on for scraps which can be removed. I have one for my crafting table and one at work....No more ruined paper either place. That is a must have for me!!!

Dr. Pepper and/or water and Audible.com (usually historic fiction, but lately biographies and histories)

I usually have the TV on all the time -- I like the white noise. I'm an NCIS junkie, and there is usually a marathon on one of the cable channels. And my Tervis Tumbler filled with Crystal Light Raspberry Ice Tea.

If it's in the morning, I have a cup of tea to drink. Like others have mentioned, I keep it far away at the other end of the table so I don't mess anything up.

I turn the TV on to any of the following: sports, Food Network, HGTV or 80's music.

Great idea, but I keep my heat gun in mine!
I usually set my drink on another table in the room because I'm a klutz too!

I listen to old classics on LibriVox through my computer - I just finished Around the World in Eighty Days and now I'm starting The Phantom of the Opera. This has been a great way for me to 'read' the classics.

my craft room is a corner of my living room. So I'm not far from the kitchen if I need a drink but I don't eat because I don't want sticky fingers on my white card stock! I always have the TV on for the background noise. Usually tuned in to judge shows, NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds, Law and Order, or HLN. Sometimes I even get to watch the shows, but mostly they are just on...

This sounds like a great inspiration and motivation booster, but I have no clue how to do it. Any tips for the tech challenged would be appreciated!

For me it's diet DrPepper sitting over on the windowsill where I won't knock it over. I enjoy Pandora, but the family computer is in the room I stamp in, so usually I listen to whatever my 15 year old twin girls are listening to or watching on Netflix. Can be quite interesting!

My desk is in the LR right now. If hubby isn't around, I have music playing on my Ipod. If he's in there with me, the TV is always on.

I always have my Turvis cup at hand usually with water in it. Don't keep food on my desk, but it isn't far away if I want a treat.

I like to wear this old, old demin button shirt on top of whatever else I am wearing. I stamp in my basement and it keeps me just warm enough. And the shirt has an embroidered zebra on it....and my adult children think it is hilarious and that I should get a new one. I love its softness and its ink stains. Anyone else have clothing confessions?

I have a collection of "wearable but not in public" clothes for crafting at home. Crafting in public is usually a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I don't usually get too messy away from home because I do more talking and eating than creating LOL!

ETA: I prefer silence but will often use the room monitor function on our phone to hear whatever is on the TV in the living room (one level down from craft room). This drowns out my FIL's TV (he has significant hearing loss and rarely wears hearing aides when home so I can clearly hear whatever he is watching almost everywhere in the house. It is especially clear in my craft room because it shares a wall with his room).

I love the sound of silence. I am too easily distracted. No food or drink in my craft room I am a klutz. And it gives me a reason to take a break and walk around.

SILENCE!!!! is a beautiful thing....I love the comment someone made about needing to be able to hear myself answer when I ask myself a question....

I often put music on, everything from classical to the new pop stuff my two teen girls listen to.... (everything except heavy metal or rap) both seem VERY distracting to me

I am a HUGE chatterbox and having others to talk to around me is not conducive to my productivity...

having the t.v. on is just down right distracting for me

so needless to say, I get very little done when I go to retreats

Oh....and coffee in the A.M. and either ice water or a Sonic unsweetened ice tea with mint for the rest of the day....and do my best not to bring snacks to the "party" or I will suddenly realize that I have gone through an entire bag of M&M's.....

I have two parts to my card-making:

Part 1 upstairs in my craft room - stamping, heat embossing, choosing dp, die cutting, embossing folders, etc. - in other words, getting all the pieces ready. I do this to CBC radio (Canada's version of NPR) and often with a cup of tea.

Part 2 downstairs in the living room - putting the cards together (and occasionally, colouring in images) - I do this while watching TV. Usually British mysteries or things like Masterpiece on PBS. And usually with a cup of tea!

Interesting question with such a variety of answers!

I'm laughing because I wear the "old lady smock" my mother gave me as a gag gift. It's flowery with snaps and has two side pockets to stuff with Hershey kisses or tissues and snaps for easy on and off. My adult children hate it too! Especially if I show up at their house on my way back from a craft store run. But my grands love it...they can reach the pockets for candy.

Well if I am not stamping with a fellow stamper, and I am home, I just like to stamp in my underthings, because I detest the way clothing feels on me - so uncomfortable! But I do keep the temperature around 82 degrees because of the lack of clothing. (and I haven't got children )

As with every other area of my life, there is ZERO pattern to what I require when crafting. Sometimes music, sometimes a movie, sometimes quiet. Sometimes coffee (which I usually toss because I get busy and forget to drink it) or water, sometimes Whoppers or jelly beans, most times nothing. For me, it's more about the project du jour and actually having time to DO something than the peripherals around it... Oh! That's what I require - TIME!

I have a mug of hot tea. I usually listen to Sirius 70's on low. I have 2 cats that keep me company, both fit on my table. As for a snack, none. Sticky fingers make for sticky projects.

Great idea to see how others stamp/craft! Myself, I stamp in the mornings, eating my oatmeal, and watching "Home & Family" on Hallmark Channel or a movie I've watched a million times! My cats always are my "helpers", so I'm never lonely. I only wish I had more natural light in my room!! Have a wonderful, creative day y'all!

Quiet for me. No food at all. My drink is usually ice tea or water. I usually bring a book in with me. I read while I stamp. If I am not reading I will bring my Nintendo DS and play a game.

I like quiet too, but the window is nearby and I like a breeze coming in. My must have is a Diet Coke with lots of ice nearby - no spills so far, knock, knock on wood. "Dirty" secret - I sometimes wipe my inky fingers on the old jeans I usually wear. Tee hee
Edited to say I often have SCS open as I make cards, tho sometimes not signed in. Oops.

I'm another that doesn't like the sound of radios, music or TV while I'm in my cave. But I must have a cup of coffee it seems. Even if I don't drink it, I just have to have it there. The cat seems to think he is a must-have too. I don't get a say on that point.

How do you read while you stamp? Is there an auto-stamp tool I'm not aware of? :o

DH rarely turns off the TV so I like the quiet although in the winter I will often have a hockey game on low volume. I like coffee, tea, or water but not on my desk, on a side table. I have spilled red wine on a just-completed stack of cards. Ouch! No eating for me, that leads to smears and grease spots. I take breaks for snacks.

When Im sewing I need silence. Sewing requires my full attention.
When I crocheting I need quiet because Im usually counting stitches
But for paper crafting, I can work with radio or audio books.

Another vote for Turner Classics! Black and white is the best.
Water, a cat or two, and sometimes if TCM is colorized, NPR or silence.

Hmmmm..ok tv or music. Coffee in the am, water in the pm. CHOCOLATE stash (presently I have two packages of oreos with double stuff. Midgie tootsie rolls, and a gigantic tootsie roll hubby brought me) lastly I need my two little pups to be in their bed by my stamp table.
Blessings.

Read a chapter, work on my project for a few minutes, read another chapter, work on my project. Finish a level in my game, work on my project. I go back and fourth.
