There is a $300 quarterly sales requirement. Purchases made by you (not including catalogs) count toward this minimum.
In addition, you have your first full quarter to meet this minimum. For example, if you sign up in May you have until the end of September to meet the $300.

Hope that helps.
It's a great time to sign up. A $75 scrapbooking starter kit is going on right now.

I don't do scrapbooking at all. Does that matter?

Is it true the demonstrator gets 40% of all sales, even their own purchases, in cash?

no...I sure wish though...it is 20% and if you put it in as a workshop order, and there are no credit card orders, then it comes right off the top, if you place it as a demo order, it is sent to you as instant income to your checking account.

If you place the order as a workshop order, and all the checks are made out to you (say $500 in sales worth of checks made out to you), then you just put it in as a workshop order, pay it, and then you cash the checks and keep the 20% difference?

I should have known 40% was too much. I must have read something wrong somewhere. I thought it was 20% in sales. Then when is the discount the demonstrator gets on her purchases?

So it's 20% commission in sales or her own purchases? and then what?
20% discount on her own purchases?

You get 20% off the items you order for yourself..if you put it under a workshop, you pay 20% less at the end of the order. If you put it in as a demo order, you will pay full price at the end of the order, and they will send you 20%. And yes, you pay for everyones order upfront. I usually wait the 3 days they have to change their minds so you are not stuck with anything, and for the checks to clear.
I generally put things I need on the hostess/workshop order...if I have things I need and no other orders, I put it in as a workshop and get the 20% off right away.

Sounds complicated. In other words, to make it simple, you get 20% off anything you order for yourself. Then, you get 20% from all your sales? Is that correct?

yep 20% To make it easy on myself, I put 99% of my orders as a workshop. I only make a demo order if I need demo supplies

So putting it in as a workshop just saves you the wait of waiting for them to send you the 20%?

Also, can anyone make a living off of this, or just mad money to buy extra stamps?

To clarify:

SU! demonstrators get either a 20% discount on purchases we make ourselves or a 20% commission on sales we make to others.

Using hypothetical numbers:

If I make a $100 purchase, I really only pay $80 out of my checking account to SU! because I get a 20% discount.

If a customer makes a $100 purchase, then I get to keep $20 of the total cash/check payment the customer gives me and send the rest to SU! when I submit the payment for the order or workshop. If the customer pays by credit card, then SU! sends me $20 after they process it because I get a 20% commission on customer orders.

As for making a living off of it, there are some people who can and do live off a SU! income, and others who do it just as a hobby or supplemental income. You get out of it what you put into it. If you're willing to work hard at it, you could turn it into a successful business. If you'd rather just be a discount demo and make your minimums with your own purchases without ever holding a workshop or event, that's OK too. There's room in the SU! family for all types of demonstrators.

yep thats right

There are lots of people making a ton of money at this...I think it depends on where you live and what type of person you are....I make enough to play. I have 2 classes in my home a month so that makes my minimums, play with friends, and have some to buy stuff for myself. I am not a people person,,,I am to shy to call people on the phone, or ask "strangers" if they want to book a party. But if you are, you can make alot of money. It helps too if you have a place in your home to hold classes...(almost pure profit)

Not to confuse matters any more. Most likely the reason you heard 40% is becuase you can earn up to an extra 20% off your sales depending on how much you sell in a month.

So, if you sell $400 in a month (the minimum for getting an extra percentage) then you will have the 20% instant income but at the end of the month SU! will deposit an additional 5% in your bank account. (ie. $80 instant income + $20 deposited)

If you sell $1000 in a month you will have the 20% instant income and then at the end of the month SU! will deposit an additional 10% in your banking account. (ie. $200 instant income + $100 deposited in your account)

If you sell $5000+ you can get an additional 20% percent in your banking account. ($1000 instant income + $1000 deposited into account)

There are a few other levels in between the ones I told you but hopefully you get the idea.

Of course remember that if you recuit anyone under you you can also earn a percentage off their sales. (percentage depends on several different factors.)

If I can answer any more questions for you please feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to help. I know it can be a little confusing at first.

Depends on how many of them there are, and what their "rank" is -- it's really too complicated to post here, so I recommend asking your demo to show you the career plan charts! The one simple answer, though, is that if you don't sell enough by yourself (min. $300 per month if you only have one recruit), you make nothing from your downline.

I don't scrapbook, either, and I've been a demo since 2005 so apparently not! ;)
