I think mine was Thanks Snow Much. I spent over $300.00 at my first party and have never looked back. And thats over $4000.00 later lol
But love it.
hahahah
My first setS (definitely plural!) I got for free by hosting a party.
Sketch an Event was my fave of my firsts, but I also luved the Hostess set I got with it--can't remember the name of it now, but it was a 2 step stampin' b-day set. My demo (who became my upline a few months later!) suggested I get Fresh Flowers as a great all-purpose floral set. I got it, but regretted that decision cuz it just wasn't my style. Sold it a few years later.
I'm just NOW getting to where I can sell/trade some of my sets that have never touched ink or even been mounted! (The hoarder in me just wouldn't let go....)
My first set was bought at least 7 years ago, and I don't remember if I bought a discontinued thing from a demo or what, cuz it has purple rubber - was never a hostess and don't recall the circumstances. It is called Country Greetings and has a frame, cat, behive, butterfly, and basket of apples, thank you, happy birthday, and hello - it wasn't even mentioned in the gallery the last time I looked. Anyone else have this one?
I have that set. It has purple rubber because it was a SAB set in 2000.
I would say that my first set was Scenery Set, which I purchased in 1998. The first time I saw a SU catalog, I was happy, because it wasn't ALL country, like DOTS. I had been to a couple of DOTS (Now known as Close To My Heart) parties before a friend joined up with SU and got me really hooked on collecting, er, stamping. My first rubber stamps were purchased in 1988, and they were from Inkadinkado. :-)

Reason: forgot a word!
Little Somethings and the matching wheel. I struggled to keep it close to $35 with everything I needed because I was just ordering to be polite. Let's see that was 9 years and oh-my-i-don't-want-to-add-the-figure-up so many dollars ago. What a fun ride!
I bought several sets my first time...offhand I think two of them were Candy Cane Christmas and Nature's Christmas, and most of the Halloween ones in the 1996-7 catalogue, (which I don't have - but that is the first catalogue I bought from).
I believe it was the first and still my very favorite is Say It With Scripture. I continue to use it today--5-6 years later. I think I bought Bitty Bolds? around the same time--it's the one with lots of little images--duck, star, swirly thing, etc. like 12 images in the set. The Bitty Bolds set (if that's the name) was/is still quite versatile.
SAB 2003 Painted Garden was my first stamp set ever. I had purchased the $50 of product (I remember getting the chalks for sure and not what else) and got my first stamp set.
Did nothing for a year. Then SAB 2004 rolled around and I had my first party. OMG --- did awesome! Over $750 and got all the SAB's that year and inks to 2 families.
Then did nothing for a year and finally got involved with a friend who did monthly clubs of $30. Started my massive collection with SAB 2005..... and some help from ebay. That continued up until SAB 2007......
Finally in SAB 2007 I joined as a demo.... the rest is history, an empty wallet and a friend/demo who is now my upline.
My first set was "Nice Mice" back in 1997 or 1998. I remember going to that first demo thinking, "Who in their right mind would make a card when you can buy a card at Hallmark?" I guess you could call those famous last words! My bedroom is my stamping room and it is totally packed out now.
