I LOVE making vintage cards/gifts for the holidays. I have a small collection of vintage Santa/Christmas stamps. I was just wondering if anyone had any favorites that I haven't heard of yet!!
Mike's sometimes carries this stamp as it is now discountinued from RS.
I was lucky enough that a friend-Thanks Carrie, was able to get it for me!

This one is my favorite too! Try a little crystal effects on the glasses - it really makes the image stand out!
I have Iridescent ice embossing powder all over the image. It is real sparkly, can does not show that much.

The Santa image on this card (below) is by Tim Holtz, available through Stampers Anonymous. It is authentically vintage. I was recently at an antique mall in my town and saw a postcard from maybe the 1910s with this exact Santa image (different colors, of course). Unfortunately, they want $10 for the postcard in spite of the fact that the stamp has been removed, making the postmark year obliterated. I'm not willing to pay that much for it (yet). And yes, I asked if they would take less than $10 for it. I was told by the clerk, "They might take 10% off; I'd have to call the owners of that booth and they live in the Czech Republic."

I love this stamp, too! I bought one at Michaels a couple of months ago. I was surprised to see that they had Christmas stamps out that early, and snatched it up.
missiowa81....that is a BEAUTIFUL card! I love the colors you used and the stamp is to die for! I have it on my list and hope to find it at Mike's today....wish me luck!

TAC has a beautiful vintage set called Vintage Santa. I just ordered it so I don't have my own card to post and couldn't find a link for the catalog, so here's a lovely card I found on Paperwings by Akadi14. Hope it's ok to post her card.

Is this in the regular catty?
This image looks so familiar but not from TAC.
I just looked all over a TAC Angels website and I cannot find this stamp anywhere. Does anyone know where it is?

These are my two favorite Santa images. I'm not sure if the Saturday Night Post is really vintage... but I love the "family memories" feel it has to it.

It's in the Fall/winter 2009 magalogue page 43. I couldn't find a picture of the whole set on line, but there are some other nice vintagey items including three sentiments, a cool background script image and some vintage snowflakes. This is going to be my Christmas card this year..can't wait to get the set.

OOoo - I have the Santa's lap one....but I am scared to try it out! It looks so detailed and I don't have a handle on copics yet. Your card looks beautiful. Should I just use black stazon....or timber brown? Maybe colored pencils will be ok with this one too.

It's the famous Thomas Nast Santa (illustration). I own that same image but, it was produced by another company at the time I purchased it. It has been reproduced as a rubber stamp by a number of companies.
HTH!

Love that Santa! Rubber Stampede has apparently reissued it, because I picked one up at Michael's last month. They're all gone now, but I snagged one when they were first put out.
Laurie has FANTASITC samples with the Vintage Santa set from TAC in this post on her blog. Every stamp she used is in the set--the background text (great for other than Christmas too), snowflake, sentiments, etc. I guess I'm a proud "grandma Angel" as she is in my second line. ;-)
When I did my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack most gals said the Vintage Santa was their fave. I'm so glad it came out in Inspiration Avenue!

If you are going to use your Copics then don't use StazOn. The solvent in the ink will react with the alcohol in the markers and you will end up with a smeary mess. If you are using your Copics then I would recommend an ink like Memento. I like to use London Fog (a light gray) with detailed images like this so that the stamp doesn't overpower the coloring.
Colored pencils would also be beautiful with this image. The stamp itself has a colored image on the wood that you can use as a guide. Just take your time and tackle one section at a time (like the reds or the whites or the PJ's) Don't look at it as a whole or it can be intimidating.
I would love to see what you do with it... it's one of my favorite stamps!
Hugs!

Just a little FYI: Several Angels are having a blog hop--holiday cards in 10 min. or less. Some Angels used Vintage Santa for their posts. If you want to see more samples, you might want to check it out and start with this blog.

And here is the stamp I used a couple of years ago - because its a photo stamp I used a brayer and a stamping cushion underneath, the pictures are bit washed out because they are scanned rather than photographed.
