I love border punches with scallops and also those with a lace effect - I have the SU Eyelet border and love that one - it gives such a feminine look - happy shopping
Look for ones that you can make pretty lacy borders with. By cutting 1" or 1 1/16 strips of paper...then punch down both sides to make a neat and quick way to make paper lace trim to add to cards as well. That's what I do. I am a punch-a-holic.
Anything by Martha S. Lacy ones especially. I have had less trouble with MS and they always work great and have better detail than any of the others..IMHO.
I love my punches...I'm not sure that I could just pick one favorite. I wanted to let you know to check out Michael's if you can. Hubby picked me up two border punches for only $2.99 on clearance He got me bat lace and dinosaurs.
My newest favorite is the MS Iron Gate Fence PATP set. (They come separately, so you can buy just the border one if you prefer.) I, too, love border punches, but I'm pretty choosy.
My SU scallop border and Fiskars apron lace border punches are my faves right now. I am thinking of purchasing the EK Success embossed curve punch since I think I could really get a lot of use out of it. I guess you could say that one is a soon to be favorite...lol!

Whoa!! How great is that?! Hubby finding you good deals at Michaels? 8-)

Yep, my dh is great at finding deals. He even went to another Michael's store to see if he could find me any more punches on clearance, but the other one didn't have any. I never pay full price for my punches, I'll wait until I have a coupon and I'll get them at 40% or 50% off.
The more intricate they are, seems the harder they are to use. I have an old Fiskars one, like bunting, that I love, but I have the worst time getting it to punch. I think the newer designed ones work much better. I really like the simple scallop. I think it is very versatile and not too fussy.
Yet one more vote for MS punches!!! I have her loopy one (from Christmas) and use it ALL the time!! Also, her scalloped lace is very pretty, too. Another punch that I really like is the SU! scallop - it is very simple, and so versatile!!

Oh my - I soooo love border punches. I use my MS Doily Lace punch alot - it's so pretty and feminine. I use my Fiskars Threading Water punch alot on masculine cards, and I use my EK Success Arrows border punch all the time but not for the border - I use the left-over punchies from it 'cos they look like tiny hearts to me LOL. See my latest card to see how cute the little punchies look. And I have a Gallery full of cards with these wee hearts.
I do try and pick border punches that look fine whether the border is upside down or not. Some of the border punches that have animals or flowers look odd when they are upside down (unless they are around a punched square) and I find it more practical for my own style of cardmaking to have the punched edge at the bottom rather than the top of the dp or cs. I seem to get more use out of the punch (but that's just me!) Hope that makes sense!
I also am in love with the MS punches, any of them. My daughter in Ohio has been going to Michaels with the coupons (I live in rural PA, 1hr to any WalMart) and taking pictures with the camera phone and getting the ones I want. Can't wait until she comes for vacation so I can get them. She got me some of the deep edge punches and I can't wait to try them. I also am a punch aholic. I have drawers of all kinds of punches.
Question about the MS lattice punch! Are there two of them?? Yesterday, I saw one called a deep edge but think the ones I've seen use on message boards as handles are the regular one? Anyone care to comment? Thanks for any help! Luvs2Craft:???:
My favorite edge punches are the EK Success ones. They punch so well. My absolute favorite is the binding edge punch. Love the look and it's not frou frou
My favorite is the plain scallop punch. I think it's EK Success. I mean other companies make it too. That's my most favorite. I like to use it to just barely peek out from behind a layer on my card.
Actually all my border punches are scallops. I have threading water, with the holes in the scallops and another that looks more like lace with sort of half circles punched out of the holes in the scallops.
I had one snowflake MS punch once and swore I'd never get another MS border punch, it was terrible, didn't punch well through cardstock and sort of tore the paper. Are they not all like that? I have not even considered another one after that but yall seem to like them. Will they punch through SU or PTI thickness of cardstocks?

I too have had trouble with my MS lace punch. I am thinking of not replacing it, with a MS, but with a SU punch. I've never had any trouble with SU! My favorite punches are the lacey ones, or scallops.
My faves are the Fiskars apron lace punch and the EK Success teeeeeeny tiny scallop and the jumbo scallop borders!
Is the EK Success jumbo scallop border punch the same size scallop as the Spellbinder and/or Papertrey Inc. large scallop dies? I'd rather have a punch than a die and love the look of the big scallops.
I have way TOO many to count these days. Once my brother-in-law mounted my curtain rods and flashing in the hall the hang them all, he counted - punches (not including SU were at 172) - that was 2 years ago. Since then, I've bought so many borders, and in fact just this morning was punching some on paper so I could go to Michael's and not buy another duplicate with my 50%. One thing I did learn though, having read some of the comments about MS troubles is they do tend to be a bit harder to use on SU cs because it's just so nice and strong. With other cs, I've not had as many problems. Favorites - omg - this week I'm loving one of the MS daisy punches (not the one with the dot).
i collected Martha Stewart punches she has great design i buy lots at Michael's store they always on sale with 20 - 50 % off depends i had full of it in my stampin drawers....Luvs it!!!!!!!
I am a punch-a-holic. I have a lot to choose from. However, I love the Martha Stewart punches for their quality and the new folding sides help with storage. I also love the EK Success flat punches also for their quality and incredible storage savings. The EKs tend to be a more delicate thin border. The MS make a statement. The deep ones in particular can become the focal point they are so dramatic. As far as patterns, a lot depends on the style you like to make. I like a bit of everything and no two cards the same. Therefore I love variety. I have 4 different MS lace edges. The one with a matching corner punch gives you more options. The one which punches out a lace strip is very pretty. A simpler cut is better if you are making masculine cards. Some punches prefer a light card stock, some only work on paper (mostly some corners I have). It is unlikely that you will find any that really like heavy card stock and I have one very fibrous thick 12x12 paper which nothing (even die cuts) will touch.
Try to buy bargains (most punches here in Australia are way too expensive at full price), but only choose designs you like - not just because they were cheap. Also, a few have a right way up - like fences, and birds - and can be quite challenging to fit into a design. You need to pre-plan for those.
I have bought only a couple of border and punches and really like them. I wanted to pick up one today. Please tell me what your favorite on is.
Thanks,
Candie
My favorite is the MS gingerbread men, scalloped hearts, lattice, and the ones that emboss as well as punch. I have fiskars punches as well, although they are cute the quality of MS punches are better. Her's are produced by EK Success, so the EK Success punches are the same quality as MS punches. I hope that helps
I've heard too many scary stories about MS punches and I have limited storage anyway, so I stay away from them. I only own three border punches and they are all SU. I bought the eyelet scalloped border first and use it as a border and to cut tiny circles which I use as faux bitty brads since I don't have a circle punch that small (very fiddly, but worth the effort). I just got the plain scallop and as a freebie with my order, a scallop trim border (one of the new ones that lock flat for storage and have matching corner punches). I'm sure I'll use the plain one a lot, but I'm not so sure about the freebie; maybe it'll grow on me once I've used it.
