A conversation on a different thread yesterday got me thinking. It had to do with comments people make on how much we spend on our hobby (money & time). Some compared what they spend with what their husbands/friends spend on their hobbies: fishing, hunting, ATVs, Golf, etc. I gave the example that in February my boss paid $12,000 for a new snowmoblie and then 2 weeks after driving it into a tree, had to pay over $3,000 to fix it.
So this brings me to my "What would you do" part. If someone handed you $15,000 and said you HAD to spend it on crafting supplies within 30 days, what would you get? If you want to share.
I would buy out most of what I don't already own from the SU catalog from myself, including a big shot (or two, for gifting)... then I would be disloyal and buy the plaid making stamp set from A*Muse (didn't SU used to have one of those??), a cute build a butterfly stamp set I saw somewhere (have it bookmarked, don't remember the name) and every distress re-inker that I need. If I have anything leftover I'd generously buy the lumber my hubby would need to build a stamping station to my specifications. Buying him the lumber would be cheaper than buying a Scrapbox and leave me more money for actual fun stuff!! LOL... fun question.
I don't think I could spend that much money that quickly on crafts unless I could use the bulk of it to re-do (create one at all) my craft space (which is currently on my dining room table and scattered throughout my house).
After that, I'd buy the rest of the Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous stamps that I've wanted forever but haven't purchased. I'd probably dive into Copics which I haven't purchased since I have so many brush markers that have worked fine (but I love the intensity and layers of color Copic experts get). I'd definitely get a top quality paper cutter to replace my okay ones. I'd get more Cricut cartridges since cost really wouldn't be a problem with $15,000 to eat up. I'd finally get the rest of the PTI and GinaK stamps that have been on my lists.
I would definitely buy like....6 more of those Jetmax storage cubes from Michaels, 20 "back-up" mats AND blades for my Silhouette SD, a new computer (I do most of my designs, and order almost all my craft supplies on it, so that counts, right? Hehe), a new printer, every type of adhesive I could get my hands on until I found one I actually LIKED, and then...stamps.
They are relatively expensive, and I don't have very many at all, so I could really use some "extra" money for those.
Definitely redecorate/refurnish my craft room first with REAL furniture, not plastic. Anything left over would go toward coordinating product lines (PTI, A Muse, Hero Arts). Already got enough SU.

That's easy. I would remodel our downstairs office so that my DH and I could be in the same room when we play with our hobbies (me = crafts; him = computers) and even have our boys with us. If there was any money left over I would buy off of my Prima, Tattered Angles, and Tim Holtz wishlists.
Now if only that would happen (or better yet, win that lotto that I never play ;) )
If I could talk my husband into giving up the garage I'd want to renovate it for my own craft space! Right now I use one wall in our bedroom.
Barring the renovation; I'd want all the Distress Inks, a craft mat, tons of large sponge daubers, all the Memento Inks, some of the new colors just introduced by Amuse in paper and ink, a TON of Spellbinders Nestibilites...right now I just have Classic Ovals plain and scalloped as well as Circles plain and scalloped. I'd want all the rest of the ovals, squares, rectangles and a few of the different label sets.
Then pretty much every stamp or stamp set from GinaK, PTI and a few other companies that have been on my wish list forever!
At this point, without a renovation I'd probably need to invest in supplies and storage to go unmounted...because I wouldn't have room for all that other stuff!! :-)
I'd definitely use the money to redo my crafting area. We've just moved and I'm going to be using a portion of our retreat in the master bedroom and it definitely needs a renovation to be craft ready :-)

This is a fun question...a little like dreaming what you'd do if you won the lottery. I would revamp my stamping room to look pretty and organized. What was left over I would share with my stampin up buddies. We meet once a month as a stamp club. They could splurge and buy what they wanted that month!
I live in an apartment, so my 2nd bedroom is an office and storage (only) place for all my crafts. (I do all my work in the living/dining room). I would invest in major organization stuff to make use of the space I have. Buy a tv and DVD player and the mounting hardware (and someone to install it) for the craft room. Then anything left over, would be for nesties (although I already own a tonne) and more stamps (have tonnes of those too but I love them!) I would also keep at least $1,000 aside for postage so I could participate in even more RAKs, BRAKS and card exchanges! Wow! What fun to imagine HAVING to spend $15,000 on crafts!! Great thread!

Then I'd go with custom cabinetry to make my area PERFECT! Then I don't have to find the additional $25G's!
If there was anything left, well, I suppose I would get some Penny Black and Whippersnapper stamps that I have been eyeing for a long time, and backstock adhesives! Maybe a few nestabilities too.
First I would hire a demolition team to go into my craft room and move everything out.
Then Remodel! and see what I can fit back into that room. A little more neatly and organized, of course.
I think I'd hire Tim Holtz to come to my house and give me a few lessons with all his stuff.
This is the best so far - Do you think he would do it lol:razz:

I'd pay for a work authorisation thingy for the US then sign up as a demo for someone. Then I would put it into a high interest account and allow myself a certain amount each month so it wouldn't disappear tooooo quickly...
Great question!

YIPPEE! YAHOO! When is the check coming! LOL First I would enlarge my crafting area. Buy myself some new stamps and dies and Tim Holtz toys. :p
Then I would buy quite a few gift cards from AC Moore and Michaels and just randomly RAK people with them. Share the JOY! Hugs, Laurie

Anyone? Well, then in that case, I think I'd hire Brad Pitt to come over for a few hours just to watch me make cards and comment, "Great job!" "I really like that one!" etc.

I'd have to add on to the house, and then there'd be nothing left for crafting stuff!
But. . . just daydreaming, if I could buy crafty things without giving any thought to cost, I'd purchase everything I like from the new Amuse Studio line, and Tim Holtz, and resupply my PTI cardstock. And get refill ink for all of my Copics! Oh - and a digital SLR camera.
Fun thread - loved reading the answers. . . now back to reality
I would by even more card stock, stickles, stamps, dsp, punches, nesties, markers/pencils, inks and just roll around in them. I think that would make me happy!
I would spend some money on making my space better then buy some new/more toys. I don't have a lot of the spellbinders and would get a lot of them plus copics and derwent inktense pencils.
Anyone? Well, then in that case, I think I'd hire Brad Pitt to come over for a few hours just to watch me make cards and comment, "Great job!" "I really like that one!" etc.
Bwahahahaha!! Thanks for the laugh! That's an awesome idea.
Well since you said we could do anything to make our crafting better....I would take 5K and get Lasik eye surgery so I could see better while I was stamping. =)
Then the other 10K would go towards goodies...I would every single item SU sells for the Big Shot, get all the punches that I don't have, I would get all the SU DSP that I can never justify buying now, at least one of every embellishment & ribbon, the distressing kit, all the My Digital Studio downloads that I don't have, enough tools for each of my workstations for my classes so we don't have to share from table to table, 12x12 cardstock for all the SU colors, stamps sets that I always put off buying and then I would really have to think what else I would need!!
Well I HAVE to go against the grain on this one (unfortunately - sorry to be debbie downer!) I would actually take $10,000.00 and prepay several months on the rent and other bills because without doing that first there could be no place for stamping or remodeling! - than the other $5000.00 would go to MORE ( NOT that I need anymore) stamps, inks, paper and supplies from my ever growing wish list!
I would build that 12x12 crafting cottage with a loft, in the back yard. It would have a front porch with a swing (all ready have the swing) also electricity with heat and air. Does not have to have running water as my DH is afraid he would never see me.
Then I would buy all new storage systems, counters, new computer, TV, and chairs. That means it will have to have cable and a telephone. Then I would have to buy some new supplies..........don't think there is going to be enough money!!!
Ok, the rules are I HAVE to spend it on crafting supplies, and it must be spent in 30 days?
A big chunk would go to new shelving & storage that actually matches, and I'd have my Dad build some punch storage units that I have in my brain.
Then, I'd pack up my mom & her cousin and some other crafting buddies and take a craft shopping tour including Gina K's store and an actual Dick Blick brick & mortar shop.
If I still had money (depends on how expensive that shelving & storage is), I'd get a serger; the Nestabilities I don't have yet, and I probably would buy a whole mess of Copics. And I would hire a housekeeper/maid to do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry for a the month so I could play with all my new toys!

First thing I would do - purchase a ticket to the States, and BUY what I wanted, and have seen that everybody else seems to have, and I don't!
Truely, I would.
I have seen so many things on blogs, links etc, that we cannot get in NZ, unless you order online (and some companies, will not send international!)
I would invite myself to a SU party, and get what we cannot get in NZ (empty DVD cases, bat punch, halloween sets etc. I would go to a CTMH party also.
Then check out Ikea, Joann's and the like (even Target and Wally world)
I think that would cover $15,000 - give or take a dollar or two!
O my.. hummm... well guess I would have me a shopping frenzy.. hit all the online stamp stores I could and get every SU stamp and accessories I dont have .. create me a REAL stamp room somehow.. and organization stuff.. and .. and .. OMY the List could go on and on~ just my 2cents worth~
if they gave it to me before this sunday, i would run to michaels and buy every punch i want cause they are on sale LOL...why not still save $?? ;)
then i would buy everything i want from the SU catty, cause sale a bration is still going on too ha ha......think of all the sets you would earn, AND all the hostess goodies too wink wink..............
i would treat some friends to goodies too, and my Mom.................share the wealth i always say!!!
ooh oohh...and order from House Mouse....OMG they have the most adorable stamps too.......
