Although I love the layout and the samples, I do not like the double-line drawings - they make my head swim. There seem to be a lot of them. I also think the catty has way too many cutsie/cartoonish sets and not enough realism. What's your least favorite thing about the catty?
Personally, I'm not a fan of the realism stamps. Garden Silhouettes, French Flair, Illuminations, Baroque Motifs, Wing It, Winds of Grace, Serene Sunflower, Blossoms all Around, Abundant Joy, etc. However, that being said, I know that there does need to be a balance of all sorts of styles.
I remember when SU first came out and it was all basically country cute. Then a few years later I came across a catalog (maybe 2001?) and was amazed at how they now had so many different stamp styles available. Having a wide variety is what keeps people coming back for more.
I am a fan of the cute stamps. I do have several different styles of flower stamps though (real to cute) from various companies.

I agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the new catalog and just placed a $250 order, but most of the art seems to be fairly simplistic. I think they're trying to emulate the look of a lot of the clear stamps out there...and that's fine, but they could have struck a better balance. And there is an excess of dots and flourishes. I already have a lot of Autumn Leaves flourishes...only need so many. Oh well...I'm excited to play with what I did order.
I'm actually not a fan of the clear stamps and all the doodle double lined. Thats why I don't have any of those sets. I like 2 step stamps and the such. I have several of the double lined sets on my list but they aren't actually on my short list.
This is probably not a popular opinion, but the new wheels kind of bother me...there is too much going on, and not as easy to isolate the sentiments on them.

I really don't like much in the new catty. Nothing seems to wow me. Most are too cutsy and too many circles and dots. A better balance would have been nice but hey in 6 months we get to see another one.
I don't like on the fly, the dog set and cat set and the christmas set with the lion and sheep and bronc buster. I am not a great fan of the double outlines either. The sets are cute though. I counted them all, since so many people say there are so many of them, I actually only counted 17 ( may have missed one or two) and that includes the doodle set and boogly eyes. I don't see it as too many. I do love this catalog. I am not going to buy a whole lot though, but that is because I am broke from spending on the old catty.
I am disappointed that the 12 x 12 doesn't come in individual colors. Also the Simply Scrappin kits are too expensive!! I don't like all the realism as well. I wish there were more girly sets for those of us who have girls. Also, because of the 6 month catalogs......I miss the summery sets this time of year when I am finally getting a chance to scrapbook our summer pics. I was also let down by the lack of variety in the alphabets.

I don't like that the simply scrappin kits are now $19.97 that is just to expensive for what it is...I thought the $12,95 was reasonable but it looks like I won't be buying anymore of those

The prices! Looking quickly through the Cdn catalogue online and at a glance, it looks like Stampin Up has outpriced themselves in my pocketbook. The Cdn and US dollars are almost at par but that isn't reflected at all and our prices have gone up, some sets by $3 just at a quick glance.
I'm very disappointed, also. The expense of so many of the sets seems outrageous. By the time we pay s/h, a set can be well over $40.
Although I know it is difficult to please us all, balance may be a plus, imho.
It looks like Michaels, HL and my LSS store will get more of my business this year as I love their sales, their 40/50% off coupons and being able to 'get the things I want right now" <g>
I'm pretty new to SU! and ordered this new catty.
I saw it online today and I'm a bit disappointed..........don't think I'll order many sets :(

I am very disappointed at the Canadian prices. I realize the book had to be printed a long time ago, however, every other large business seemed to know where the dollar was headed.
At least Canada should be offered a discount at ordering time--
We aren't even allowed to put our orders on a US charge card and have it shipped to a valid US address. A lot of Canadians have residences elsewhere.
The minimum to receive a "free" hostess set is $225 while it is $150 in the US catty.
Stampin Up has stated it is due to the highter cost of doing business in Canada. Seems very odd when all manufacturing is done in Utah.
I would have hoped SU might have realized how much higher we are than the US prices--which are high enough, too!
These prices combined with a 6 month book & mini books, plus a retired list due out in December of all months, will certainly curb my spending.
I feel really bad for newer demos who are trying to decide what to purchase that may be retired in December. Could be a costly investment.
I was really pleased with the style of the sets as I prefer the whimsical, simple line styles. I love the wheels and the Christmas sets, too! The new punches were so-so. The only think I don't like were the prices.....TOO HIGH! As much as I like most of the sets I think I will have to abstain from buying most of them :( .
I'm pretty miffed at the new ribbon prices! In Canada, the 2006/2007 price was $0.34/yard for 1/4" grosgrain. Now it's gone up to $0.45/yard. How does that equal a 5% increase?
I definetly will NOT be spending as much with SU this year. This increase, plus every other higher price I have to grin and bear because I live in Canada is just becoming too much.
Anybody out there know of a Canadian friendly stamp company that would like my $100+/month business?

I think that it was stated as in general a 5% increase. Some things have gone up more, some less, and some not at all. Nobody likes to pay more, but the prices have stayed pretty consistant and they have said they haven't done an across the board increase in ten years. What else can we say that about? Don't get me wrong, I don't exactly like having to see things go up either, but compared to gas, milk, food, etc these have increased are alot more than 5% in the last ten years!
Unfortunately, with everything else going up it does limit what you have to spend on the fun things.
I am not a fan of the wing it set, or the Illuminations set. I am sure that I will see cards done with those I like though. I just can't see myself using them
I don't care for the Hostess sets. I'm in a stamper's club (we all take turns being hostess) and I'm not sure what I would pick at ANY level when it's my turn. Maybe I'd pick So Many Sayings for Level 1, but I think it would be a pain to try to stamp the one line you want in the spot you want it. I might use Party Punch, but I'd have to buy the two punches that go with it. I guess I could use Garden Silouette at Lefel 2 for some guy's cards, and Word on Word might have some potential. I could go for Vases in Vogue at Level 3, if I were to reach that level.
Basically, they're all 'maybes' to me. I can't say I'd order them if they were regular sets.

Some of the prices are very high. And the inconsistency in pricing, similiar size sets with very different prices. There was one word set i would have ordered immediately if it was not over 40$. Then there are other things that the prices aren't bad, very inconsistent. kim
Yep - the prices. $63 for a designer label punch set is crazy talk. I am thinking of becoming a demo in the US and having mom ship it to me in Canada. Im sick of the price differential.
I took a quick peek at the online catalog. I wasn't too excited either. I have been stamping for a few years, so maybe that has something to do with it - I've got lots of flowers, flourishes, etc. I'm sad to see the prices have gone up too. I enjoy attending stamping parties with my friends, but we are all on a tight budge (who isn't, I guess), and it'll make it more expensive for us.

So Many Sayings is great -- if you cut it up and go unmounted on ez foam. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense to me. Using a marker and hoping to get the correct placement would be way too much work for me.
I love getting the new catty. I wouldn't say I hate anything, although there are certainly things I don't want. Love those new colors

I agree with the budget thought. I'm on Soc. Sec. and that doesn't go far enough to buy SU products as I'd like to. I'll keep coming here for all the wonderful ideas but will transfer them to less expensive products.

Lol those are two of my faves along with priceless

OMG I totally didn't even catch that first time around....guess I'm scratching those off my list...geesh!
I really like two sets. The new music set called Elegant Notes although the words are much like the old word set (Elegant Greetings) they had a few years back but I do see a lot of use for me with the F and G clefts etc.
I also like Define Your Life but I almost missed it due to how it is layed out on page 158. But this is very expensive so don't think it will be bought at any time soon.
A few things in assesories I like too but again, very pricey. I have been a demo for almost 10 years as a hobby demo and maybe I have just gotten bored with SU and am finding my endorphins with other companies or resouces?
I am also not into the IN Colors for I want to replenish my stock etc past a year. I also love my markers and they don't make them to match so I am in the tiny minority who would buy any and all permament colors but not limited ones.
That said, I still think that SU does a good job at reaching everyone and I don't really mind the basic price increases for it has been years since they have raised them. For basics, I mean paper, inks, and stamps. They are still reasonable and nothing lasts better than an SU ink pad, marker and a package of paper!
I'm not feeling particularly inspired by this catalogue as I did for the past few. What I liked about many of the past sets is that the stamps look like they were professionally done, rather than the "doodle" style. I can doodle so I don't really want to pay for someone else's doodlings. I'm curious to see what will grow on me as I keep checking the gallery.
I don't like the new dog/cat stamps. I didn't like last year's either, and am glad that I bought Bow-Wow a few years ago as THAT one is really nice.
I got "Meow Meow" for the same reason.
Other than that, I like the new catty. Sure, there's stuff I'd pass on, but I'm sure I'll see something created here that will make me take a second look.
Very disappointed. No set jumps out at me, maybe once I see some done up but I don't think so. Was hoping for a neat Christmas set. Only like one and it is kind of cutesy for me. To many solid sets. I like to color mine it. Don't really care for the hostress sets, other years I worked to get them all. The prices are something else. 10 yards of ribbon for 12.99. Feel sorry for the demos. I can get my ribbon at Micheals much cheaper.
