Wonderful talent freely shared is my favorite thing. It is the one thing that when given is like finding the best prize in a box of Cracker Jacks.
YES YES YES! I thought I was alone in this hobby until I met all you wonderful people on SCS! I have received so much help and encouragement! The down side, if there is one, is that I'm a lot poorer due to that Announcement thread! I need to develop some self-control and stay out of there!!!
Anyway...I truly love SCS and how it's helped me grow.....thank you all!
When you get into "the zone" and lose track of all time and the end project turns out even better than you could have possibly imagined.
Number one has to be great customer service. After dealing with several companies lately where they totally messed up my orders and now I'm STILL waiting for my product weeks after I initially ordered and delivery was suppose to happen, I'm absolutely thrilled when I order or purchase something online or even in a store and the transaction goes off without a hitch. The bad transaction/customer service should be the exception instead of the rule, and lately it's been the rule. Great customer service will keep me purchasing from a company or store again and again.
May I ask, what do you use gesso for? I have some and would like to try something new.
Rebecca

Stamping things that make me happy (in no particular order):
-- techniques that can only be described as *magic,* like heat embossing, shrink plastic, and cracked glass
-- my BFF and stamping buddy, Terrie
-- knowing that nobody else is sending exactly the same card for any occasion as I am
-- having the perfect card for somebody, because I can tailor it precisely
-- having a project come together on paper the way it does in my head
-- actually finishing a big project on time
-- stamping my "maker's mark" on the back
-- compliments

What stamping thing makes me happy? Hmmmm ... soooo many things. (btw, I'm hearing Julie Andrews' 'Favorite Things' in the back of my head right now, lol!)
I agree with a lot of other stampers, that there's nothing so cool as when the idea in my head matches what lands on the paper. Doesn't happen often and it's a total trip when it does.
I love learning new techniques that look amazing but are actually pretty easy to do.
I love Stickles. and shimmer paints. and twinkling H2Os. (Babydal ... I think I might be related to your crow side of the family.)
I love a card I can send through the mail that looks 'polished' but doesn't require extra padding or postage.
And I really, really love SCS with all its inspiration and support and the virtual friendships that have spilled over into IRL friends. SCS rocks! The people here are amazing!

Funny how I was thinking today about starting a "happy and positive" thread - so this is just perfect!! There are so many stamping things that make me happy - I love........
1. Cleaning and tidying up my Craft Room - it's amazing what you can find that you "forgot" you had - it's like buried treasure!!
2. White FlowerSoft
3. Snowflake dies/punches - I LOVE how you can get so many different shapes and sizes and styles
4. Snowmen stamps - oh, I just LOVE snowmen stamps!! (don't laugh that I live in Australia and it is Summer at Christmas-time.....)
5. My coloured pencils for colouring my images - pencils make me so happy
6. New embossing folders
7. How people take the time to do a new post on their Blog - having only been blogging for 6 months, I now understand how much time and effort goes into it - and how much time and effort goes into step-by-step Tutorials esp. Videos - wow - I take my hat off to you all!
8. My Cuttlebug has totally transformed my cardmaking - and I love that you can do so much with it for any style of card
9. New designer paper esp. the 6" x 6" paper pads
10. Design Teams: people make so much effort to meet deadlines and come up with so many new and inspiring ideas - and I LOVE their enthusiasm - it rubs off!
I have really enjoyed reading this wonderful and positive post. Thanks for starting it, Joan! It is so much more fun to concentrate on the good and happy things. Here are few of mine.
-The most important is I love how supportive my husband is to my need to have a creative outlet.
-I love all the friends I have made here on SCS
-I love that people are so willing to share their creative talents with others just for the simple sake of sharing.
-I love my cats and that one of them always seems to need a nap on my lap when I am trying to paint.
-I love my brushes, watercolor paper and reinkers more than any other single thing in my stamp room.
-I love the many wonderful cards of love and friendship I have received from SCS friends.
-I love white craft ink and white embossing powder.
-I love making Christmas cards of all kinds but especially with snow.
-I love Polar White Flower Soft.
-I love olive green for all things green-trees, grass, Christmas trees, flower stems, etc.
-I love that I discovered in my 50's that I could actually paint and even draw a little. I would have never made this discovery without finding SCS and all of the creative opportunities and resources we have on this site.

Am lovin' this thread...here are some things that really make me ecstatic:
the sight & smell of new rubbah before it sees ink for the first time,
any Graphic 45 paper
my "bug" - can't live without it
any CB embossing folder - love them all
my MM paper cutter
MS punch around the page punches
Spellbinders dies
my ATG tape gun - love it
my OTT lite - WOW what a difference that makes
50% off coupons
There are tons more but these always put a smile on my face
I love the Copics. After having resisted them for so long (because of the cost), after I finally embraced them, it was love at first use. I feel like I'm cheating on my watercolours, though I still love them too.
I also love stickles and Primas! I put these even on guy cards; I can't help myself!
In my own little happy place. Which just got mucked out and cleaned up. It's nothing fancy, certainly not pretty. Nothing big; it's about the size of a walk-in closet. Functional is about all one could really say about it. But, making stuff in that little finally-cleaned-up space makes me very happy.
