I have a very hard time parting with any stamp. I really should do a small purge but it's hard. Even if I've never used a stamp, I fear that I will have the perfect reason to use it right after I get rid of it. Yes, I was raised by a hoarder.

I have found that all of a sudden I do need a stamp I have hardly ever used or never used. It took me so long to fill my stamp, paper and embellishment inventory that I can't imagine getting rid of too much.
I do wonder about "hard to use" stamps. I still love the old set Bar Codes, but it is hard for me to use....yet I hang on to it!
I have an easier time getting rid of card stock/ink/ribbon I don't use tho.

I doubt I'll ever get rid of my first set (Sketch It ... retired long ago by Stampin' Up!). I bought it for the "sunflower" image, often seen used for Sesame Street characters but found I mostly use the open heart image. And this is partly why I avoid getting rid of any stamp/set because my style and needs change over time.
I will say that, as happens with many things over time, I am more selective about what I choose to buy so have few regrets (these mostly consist of clearance bin items that would fill a short-term need such as kids images; most of the kids I make cards for are either siblings or cousins so I rarely use an image more than 2-3 times before I run out of ideas or get bored with it.) I've yet to get bored with other images such as Frosty so I think it's because the images aren't "me" but do fit the recipients so a temporary need was filled.
So my "forever" stamps include ...
Sketch It
Frosty
Christmas Cardinal (the older one that retired around 2005?)
O Tannenbaum
Keep Christmas
Sincere Salutations
Warmest Regards (retired hostess set? ... I might have the name wrong)
and too many to remember off the top of my head
I admit that most of my stamps are SU but I have many from other companies too ... I doubt I'll ever part with Gina K Designs birthday set (the one that includes the sentiment about 365 day trip around the sun) and I love sentiment/word stamps so have several from various companies (Great Impressions, Paper Inspirations, DRS Designs, etc.)
TeeGeeDee, just saw the link in your signature line about "Share a story..." Never saw that thread before, thanks for mentioning it. I LOVE SCS AND THE PEOPLE ON HERE!
The first one that comes to mind is Wild Wild West.... it was given to me as a gift by a friend I made here on SplitCoast, who has now passed on... bless her, dear VivLyn.
Of course, i don't get rid of many of my stamps. that could be why i need an addition built onto my room! Haa!!
Your creativity makes any stamp set come alive. I think I was one of your first admirers--just loved you work! You are awesome.

I really only buy what I love, so really, all of them! I have refined my taste over the years and don't really follow the trends so I don't buy something unless I love it. For instance the Occasions flyer has nothing in it for me.
I so agree--nothing in the Occasion Catty will come my way. Maybe the tag punch--because I can't live without punches!

Trust me on this one--I have lovely given hundreds of stamps to new homes. I only missed one, 'Best of Cluck', so I bought that back and will never let it go!
I don't miss what I have placed with others because there is always something new!

The posts about House Mouse reminded me that I would never part with my precious Mice, Happy Hopper's or Gruffies. I have a collection of over 100 of those cuties. Never could part with them.
I also adore Lovely as a Tree, Dasher, and the Open Sea. I still kick myself for missing Medallion. Some of my other favorites I haven't seen mentioned: Inspired by Nature, Baroque Motifs (for the flourish alone), Gently Falling, Swallowtail, and En Francais. These are all SU sets
Inspired by Nature for me. I also won't give up any of my sympathy stamp sets because it's so hard to find good ones and unfortunately, I seem to be needing them more and more as time goes on. Other than that, I try to keep track of when I use my stamps and if too much time goes by or I just can't get inspired to use it, out it goes.
On another (and totally unrelated topic), the advertising on this screen is a banner asking for a donation to Michigan State University. I went to school there and it scares me how much info about us floats between web sites. I presume none or few of you are getting solicitations from MSU...

The reason you see the Michigan ad is because you must have looked at a Michigan site which set a cookie on your computer. Now places that post advertising know that you are interested in Michigan. This happened to me when I was looking for a new car, and all of a sudden I was getting car advertising on the Splitcoast page. You can go remove the cookies, usually under settings or preferences.

I bought the tag punch...not sure why once it arrived, but I'm more of an addict with punches and dies than stamps.
I use MDS and a lot of digi stamps, so I don't have to worry about storage space as much. If I give a stamp away, it's to someone in my community so I know I can always 'borrow it back.'
My faves are Thoughts and Prayer and Petite Pairs. And anything Christmas related (too many to name).

For SU images, I have similar favorites to what many have listed here; Lovely As A Tree, Roses In Winter, French Foliage, Summer by the , Branch Out. I've also kept and still use Terrific Tulips and the old, but still beautiful set Snowflakes.
I don't think I'll ever part with any of my beautiful PSX stamps - they seem pretty timeless to me. I also will probably always hang onto all of my Penny Black floral and tree images.
I am feeling the need to clean out again, though, and I don't have time or desire to do ebay, so those I get rid of may go straight to Good Will.

In Full Bloom by SU is my all time favorite 'flower' set, but I keep all verses & sentiments and I never let go of a snowman, Santa, or cats (have 2 full drawers of those)! gave up counting how many stamps I have years ago, but I have now begun to donate ones that I never seem to use.
I take all my wood stamps out of their packaging and put in separate storage, so I don't have the names of all the sets - eek, now I see why it would be good to keep them by set - oh well. I do have the Lovely as a Tree, but tend to use only the single pine tree. My favorite sentiments are the ones that fit in the word label punch or small oval. Since we just started raising egg laying chickens, I LOVE the best of Cluck - I got it on Ebay - never used, so I am happy when someone off loads what they don't use anymore. I have teen aged boys so I use the set that has the quad, boat, and car in it, but could see where that would go away once I was done with that age group. and the gorgeous grunge is a favorite. At my first SU party I ordered the All Occasions set and would not part with it - classic. (long post with not much helpful info, huh?)
So many of my keepers were already mentioned. Here are a few of the ones I won't part with. One of my first sets, Friendships Journey, Art of Life, Beautiful Season, Petal Prints, Gentler Times, Lovely Letter alphabet and A new little Someone.
Oh my! I have kept almost all of the stamps I've bought over the years. Most of them are wood mounted, but I love the way wood mounted stamps look and feel. Unmounted stamps are more practical, but the indexing on wood mounted can be a work of art in itself! I'm thinking Magenta.
Some of my favorites are never used word/phrase stamps from Viva Las Vegas. I pull that drawer out and just read them when I want a good laugh! A lot of them I wouldn't use because they're a bit rude, but SO funny!
I hate to say this here but I don't have any SU stamps. I didn't even know about SU until a few years ago! I live near Pittsburgh, PA and when I started stamping there were quite a few stamp stores in our area. Maybe that's why I never heard of SU.
most of my stamps are on the "cutesy" side. i couldn't part with
Crazy for Cupcakes (use that big cupcake a LOT)
Wacky Wishes
Favorite Teddy Bear
Loads of Love
I don't use those last 2 often, but they are so versatile! i'd probably keep Sock Monkey for the same reason. Lots of the smaller stamps stand on their own.
I have recently created a HUGE stack to donate/give away/sell/RAK....most of them happen to be SU freebies from SAB or hostess sets. I found that interesting, because I probably spent a lot of $$ to "earn" them. The sets I won't ever part with are any set of sentiments, Voila, my Hero Arts bicycle set and my Hero Arts Paris set, and CTMH Remarkable Wreath. I have a lot of other favorites, but those are some that I grab quite a bit.
Hmmmmm.......... I think I will have quite a few on this list.
Lovely as a Tree
Baby Firsts
Artfully Asian
Embrace Life
French Script
Best Blossoms
Unfroggettable
Little Pieces & Big Pieces
The Snowflake Spot
Vintage Postcard
Thoughts & Prayers
Flight of the Butterfly
Baroque Motifs
Sincere Salutations
Warmest Regards
Well Scripted
My PTI Year of Flowers series.
PTI's Modern Basics (A set I bought on a whim, but which has become a staple.)
High Hopes Froggy Gift
High Hopes Jolie's Little Friend
TAC Wild West

All of my Elzybells

I "repackage" as well, but write the name of the set on the edge of each wood block before I put them into their "theme" area. I do not unmount as I love the look and feel of wood block stamps. I have given away stamps over the years as I have learned my style and to reduce the number that are similar to make room for something new and fresh.
SU Sets I will never get rid of:
Nature's Wonders
Ageless Adornment
Stippled Shells
Artfully Asian
Fabulous Florettes
Just Believe and other silhouette stamps
Terrific Tulips
Long Stemmed
Growing Green
Art of Life
Oh So Lovely
Peaceful Wishes
Grapes (one of my first sets)
Lovely As A Tree
Scenic Season
Fantastic Foliage
Ferns
Snowflakes
Ornate Ornaments
Snow Swirled
Cupcake Birthday
All Aboard
Schooner
Baroque Motifs
Seeing Spots
Itty Bitty Backgrounds (use these all the time---especially the texture dots
4 Blocks of Different Lines to make plaids (from 1995) don't know the name
Most of my Background stamps
Most of these are older stamps that are joined by newer ones that I won't let go either---many, many that I did not list. I love my stamps and come back to ones unused for a while and make much use of them. Many rather cute flower and animal stamps have gone to my granddaughter and others to newbies in the art
Elzybells!!!!! I have a huge collection of Elzys, most picked up after she closed. I would never part with any of them as the originals only get harder to find.
As for SU, there's very little of my 200+ collection I'd consider parting with, but my absolute keepers are:
Baby Firsts
Lovely as a Tree
Summer Silhouettes
French Foiliage
Any of my Christmas sets
Any of my horsey sets
Elzybells!!!!! I have a huge collection of Elzys, most picked up after she closed. I would never part with any of them as the originals only get harder to find.......
Lovely as a Tree always seems to too the list of people's favorites. I've seen lots of beautiful cards done with this set, but I've never been inclined to buy it. I'm just more on the "cutesy" side. But if they ever retire it, I may have to get it, "just in case"!
I will never part with SU Lovely as a Tree, En franais, or any of my background stamps of my sentiment stamps as well a my Christmas Stamps and let's not forget the Gorgeous Grunge!! whoo hoo! There are probably more. I have been trying to sell my retired stamp set but keep putting them back on the shelf saying " Oh I just might use this again" LOL I guess you could say I'm a stamp horder.
My top stamp sets are all stampin up--art of life, feeling sentimental, gorgeous grunge
nicest thing, long time friends, classic sketches, every moment, flakey friends. I also love seaside sketches and summer by the sea but I never bought them. I keep trying to find them at a reasonable price.
