Winged Things. Had to have it because of how the dragonfly was used in a friends card. Used it one time right after getting it, haven't used it since, because there is no inspiration in that set for me.

I love Feathered Friends. It has been on my wish list for a while, but keeps getting bumped because of minis and needing paper. Ugh!

Funny you mentioned Winged Things. I LOVE Winged Things. I showed the stamps to my sister and she absolutely hates them.

I'm also surprised Carte Postale and Noteworthy were least favs. I love them both!

I always have a hard time using Garden Collage... I'd have to say it's my least favorite.

Oh my, quite a few of my favorites are listed here! I guess everyone has their own tastes! I sometimes purchase a stamp set because I see one card that I like that used it, and after I do a case it may sit awhile. But I don't think I'm sorry I every bought any of them. I'm a demo, so I occasionally break up sets to give a stamp and stamping spot as an incentive.

I HAD to have Trimtastic as soon as the new catty came out last July. 9 months later it sits in its box, having never seen the light of day.

I think Elegant Ornaments had to be the Titanic of all stamp sets! I wasted so much paper trying to make that one work. Finally put it on ebay and hardly got anything for it. I had such high hopes for that one!

Other disasters in my private collection:
Wonderful Weaves
Smorgasborders
Somebunny New
Quick & Cute
Mini Messages
Nice & Easy Notes
Fabulous Four
Fun Filled
All I have Seen

Anyone noticing a trend here that a LOT of what is most detested came from Sell-A-Brations? For the first few years I was stamping I would have a party in January to get ALL the SAB sets. This year I didn't have one but two friends did. I was struggling with what to order for the second one and ended up getting the scrappin kit instead of a stamp set. If you had told me that in the begining, I never would have believed you!

Oh my gosh there are sooooo many, it seems my tastes change every day.
Basket of Blossoms
Bold and Bright
Brushstroke Hummingbirds
Costume Bears
Fabulous Flourishes
Fabulous Four
Fanciful Flowers
The Little Layers sets
Painted Garden
Just to name a few, there are also some backround stamps from long ago I never use anymore.

I sound terrible for a demonstrator don't I. It's just hard to get anyone too excited about a party for those choices on the hostess sets.
You're not thinking of trading petal prints?

Most of these I still like but I have to agree with Brushstroke Hummingbirds. I was desperate for stamps when I first started and I bought it used from my demo lady. What was I thinking???? LOL

For me, it's Bold & Bright. I can't do anything with that set. I tried to trade it at a "white elephant" exchange, my mom got it and gave it to me...so it's back! There's another one that was a host set back in about 2001 or 02 that I got at the very first SU party I hosted and I hate that one too, just can't remember the name of it. I figure I'm just stuck with those now unless I have a garage sale.

Stipple Celebrations...since I bought it I think I've used it once. I just have no idea what to do with it. I'm sure there are a few more that I wish I hadn't bought but can't think of them at the moment.

Travel Sketchbook - I thought it looked so good in the mini and I had to have it. Once I got it, well it just does not look as good stamped. THe images look way to "sketchy" - depending on how you stamp you can't even make out what the image is.

I would gladly trade this - anybody want it?

I don't think I have any sets right now that I don't like. I think I have such a wide variety of sets that as my stamping mood changes, I am able to stamp what I want. Granted, I've been stamping since the early 90's... I've done my share of weeding out though (House Mouse, Kliban cats, etc.). I'm kicking myself for selling my Kliban cat stamps though. I also used to buy a stamp to use for my Christmas cards and then I'd sell that stamp after I used it -- because I knew I wouldn't re-use that stamp for other cards.

The only good things I've ever done with Stippled Celebration were cased. Completely--then they do look great--anything on my own is a waste of paper.

Also, By Definition. I'm going to have to get some inspiration from the gallery on that one as well.

WOW!! I am surprised at some of the sets that are being mentioned. I don't feel so bad now. I think I get all wrapped up in the parties and I just buy what they are showing and we use that night, then get home and wonder why. I have at least 12 background stamps and never use them.
Does anyone buy background stamps and then never use them? Please say you do!!!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE that set! Go figure, huh? I use it to make sympathy cards all the time - just love it. Most of my stamps are cute & happy - Garden Collage has just the right feel to it for those not-so-happy occasions. And that's not all I use it for ... just in case you think it's the ultimate grim reaper set or something LOL!

I have to tell all you Stipple Celebration haters ... I made the cutest baby's first year scrapbook with that set. I did a two-page spread for each month of the baby's first year -- and stamped three squares to decorate each page. I used Stipple Celebrations and Garden Blocks - it came out so darn cute -- and it was fast & easy! Not a very good description ... sorry.

I just used Garden Collage for a birthday card!!! I think it's the newest card in my gallery! I love that set, mainly because I like to watercolor it.

That's what happens to me too. I recently purchased the Looks Like Spring set AND the spring bouquet punch that goes with it. I loved the card the demo brought for us to do, but haven't used my stamps yet! I'll have to dig that out and try again because it is a nice set.

And I think I just have one background stamp that I use all the time. I buy wheels that never see the light of day :(

I would have to go with Nice and Easy Notes. I thought it would be very versatile and useful, but... there are only 2 stamps that I rarely use.....

Like the rest, I agree that this is funny to read. I bought "A Little Love" last year and rarely use it.... it's SO VERY (another one I am having a time with) small!

Oh! You mean that you have to actually stamp with it? <ggg> I have a lot of sets that I have good intentions for but get stuck with my faves and then don't use them all. I never bought a set that I wasn't happy to set on my shelf and look at. What was the questions? lol

It was funny I saw this thread 'cause I was going to ask the question myself. Two that come to mind for me are

Haute Couture
Wonderful Weaves

There are a few others whose names elude me at the moment, but there are more cutesy type border stamps (chairs, cakes, dresses) and the the little mini sets that coordinated that had small words like "ooh-la-la, princess, etc. Sorry I can't remember the names. I've never used either.

I think too that we all have to remember how stamp trends change, what worked to make cards a few years ago is out of vogue now. Some sets, such as Looks Like Spring are great for funky collage type cards with lots of pieces and layers. I've seen some awesome ideas in stamp mags. If you are more into traditional cards, then maybe that set isn't working.

If you like to stamp and color, sets like the bold graphics and sayings don't appeal to you.

I find that I'm getting more into stamps with designs, verses, words, etc and not so much images to color. With so many cool patterned papers, I like using them instead and just adding words and accents.

I, too, am selling some older sets. I have a bunch ready for ebay. Some, I never thought I'd sell, but I'm just not using them anymore. There time as come.

Sets like Big Pieces (which I looooooooove) definately need Little Pieces. I had Little Pieces and never used it until I got Big Pieces. What a difference.

Not so much that I REGRET it, but I can't figure out what to do with A to Z Accents. Even the gallery wasn't much help. Those little stamps can be tricky unless they're being used with a bigger set.

When I first started it was a lot of impulse buying & sell-a-bration & boy how my style has changed. Now 1st impulses usually go away when they sit on a list for awhile. What I could do without & there's probably a few more:
Occasionally (SAB)
Fabulous Four (SAB)
SmorgasBorders (SAB)
Framed Fun
Border Builders
Love Ya Bunches
Heaven Scent
Elegant Embroidery
Bold 'N Bright
Bug Builders
Simple Sayings

The winter mini got me this year but I was stocking up on c/s & some other things I needed - so I have 3 SAB sets, 1 hostess & 2 I bought sitting untouched.

I'm trying to look at all of this stuff as pieces & not a set....Eg. Mini Messages I'm not crazy about but the little word stamps make a great BG when stamped multiple times.

Oh well............it is an incurable 'des-ign-ease' we have been struck with!!!

You should all check out the Ways To Use it challenge today (using stamps that have never been inked). I have to agree with those saying Fabulous Four and A Little Love. I just can't ever think of what to do with them (or else the image is just right, but not the sentiment or vice versa).

I find it easy to get drawn in when I see great creations on SCS with stamp sets & start thinking I *have* to have it. Now I make myself sit down & look at the catalog image & think *what* would *I* actually create with this. If I can't come up with some good plans, then I don't feel so bad about letting it pass by.

santakitty, sounds like a great idea but I'm having a hard time picturing how you'd do it -- do you have a sample you could post?

I have a list as long as my arm that I pulled out to trade, I wanted to use them before I listed them, but they are still just in a huge heap, unused. That was 3 months ago!

Fun thread! The set that has had the quickest turn around (from receipt to e-bay sale) has to be Letter Patterns. Page 165 of the current catalog - one of those three piece, small background/kissing sets. The patterns were too detailed to get a good image (for me). I despised the set once I owned it LOL. I picked it as a hostess gift.

The set Little Pieces still lives at my house, but it is suspect.
