Just curious I guess. I tend to favorite cards that I think I might CASE or at least borrow an idea from. Sometimes, I just really like the look of a card even if it is completely not my style and never will be.
I never can predict which of my own cards will hit that note with people....I can usually tell which of mine I probably shouldn't bother to upload, but sometimes I have cards that I just LOVE that don't get either viewed much or favorited. So, I'm just wondering how others decide to add cards to their favorites.
I add cards or scrapbook pages to my favorites if there is a technique on it that I think I might use. I like giving credit for the idea where I found it and if I don't favorite a card I will forget who did the technique by the time I make a card. I have had that happen before......
I usually favorite a card that uses a stamp set in a way that I never would have thought of. It's a good reminder to step outside the box with some sets. Also, layouts and color combos.
Many reasons ... almost anything with sunflowers; color combo using any (or a combo of) yellow, green, turquoise; masculine cards i think I can CASE; the sentiment.
I try to also make a comment but the cat is usually on the keyboard (or close enough that I just click or scroll) or I'm rushed for time. Sometimes I favorite lots of card with the same sketch so when I look in my favorites I know I really liked the sketch (if I don't have time to find the sketch when I view the card). I don't always comment on those but if I actually use the sketch I try to comment on a few of them.
I know it's a sensitive subject but really ... depending on when I see a card I like and what else is happening a click on the heart really is as good as a comment from my POV.
I'm much like you, Gail.
First...would I case the card, or at least be heavily inspired by it.
Second...is it a style I would love to try, even if I don't do it right now.
Third...does it just totally WOW me? Jerri Kay does that for me. Sometimes I just LOVE to drool.
Fourth...a great sentiment I would like to get or copy down.
Fifth...is it one that I would like to share with my stamping friends or family.
I guess that covers most of it.
I never upload my own cards, I can hardly get the camera to download photos much less upload. I love to favorite for a potential case, technique, new way to use a set, or if I have a similar set I am having trouble using, etc. I hardly ever comment, but I love that everyone sharres.

If I see something that makes me think - hey! I can do that to a card and make it look good - I favorite it. Today's was one where they colorblocked the background then embossed it. While I didn't care for the color choices or stamped image, that background would work for me as a starting point. Other times, I want to CASE it exactly. Still others, I favorite something because I love a color combo or it uses an image I have (or a similar set) that I don't use often enough. Still others get favorited just because I like them.

Save your drama for your llama.
First, in order to click the favorite button, something has to draw me in enough to view the full-size card, so it needs to be a good photo to begin with
Then, if it's a card with a stamp set that I'm struggling to use; if I like the color combo; if it has a technique that I want to try; if they've used an embellishment or punch in a way I hadn't thought of; if it includes a link to a template that I want to be able to find later; or if I just go "oooooh, pretty!"
Well, hmmm...I fave for most of the above reasons too, layout, color combos, similiar set that I could case idea from, etc. But I also tend to hit the heart if I come across stamps that I am drawn too, that I haven't ever seen and would like to remember the manufacturer or web sight to be able to purchase. Purchase when my budget allows that is. So if it's a week, a month, or even a year, I can find it in my faves and try to get ahold of it myself

God and America, Family and Friends, Stampin' and Zumba....so much to be thankful for!
I can identify with most of the above messages. I favorite if it's a stamp set I have and it's used in a way I like; if there's a technique I would like to try; if there's an embellishment I could use.
I agree with all that has been said. I generally click the button because I want to case or I like the color combo Usually, I am quite busy and when it is time to make a card. I do not have a lot of time, so it is nice to be able to go to my fav's and be inspired.
I favorite for most of the reasons listed, but lately (the last few years) is because my schedule has gotten so busy that I don't have time to go through all the uploads each day (there are way too many anymore). So, when I do get the chance to look and I see something I want to look at again for design, new punch or stamp set, coloring technique, etc. then I'll Favorite it because if I don't, it'll be way too hard and time consumming to find again. Then, when I have time to create, I'll just look in my favorites which still has a ton of cards over the years but only ones that I know I personally really like and will CASE or want for design inspiration. I'm thankful for all those that upload artwork but not all of it is something that's my style, so it's just faster for me to have a smaller set of projects to search that I know are my style than to re-search the entire huge gallery. I just wish there was a way to add or delete items from your favorites directly from the thumbnails. At least in the case of my favorites gallery, I don't always have to click on the larger photo to see if it'll work for the project I'm working on. Some of the older ones I need to delete, but it takes forever to go through and click on the thumbnail to get to the larger picture to delete it from my favorites, so until I have the time, there are things still in my favorites that aren't really "my favorites" anymore.
I favourite for all the reasons listed above, but one of the biggest reasons I favourite a card is because it features a technique that I know I am not currently capable of doing, but would love to learn. For me, brayered sky or landscape techniques are my kryptonite. Part of it is because I just don't have all the right stamp pads in the right medium (have more dye inks than pigment inks), but mostly because I am just down right intimidated. So, I keep those cards that do such a beautiful job of that technique in my favourites to go back to when I get up the courage to try it. But mostly, I favourite because it just strikes my eye and makes me go wow!

I have Favorited cards - scapbook pages for all the reasons above ! Their are so many Talented and Creative People on Splitcoast I am in awe of them ! I also tend to put cards - scrapbook pages into my Fav's if the creator has taken the time and effort to put down all the details without sending me somewhere else to find them ( I have a Very slow computer ,and it does not like to open extra pages and when it does ,it takes me forever ) Some cards that I put into my fav's have stopped me dead in my tracks , and I save them to learn , to show others , drool (LOL) but I think above all to show my apprecation of the card -scrapbook pages and to honor the maker for a job so well done !!! ...Sherrylynn
I just wish there was a way to add or delete items from your favorites directly from the thumbnails.
Well, you can delete from the thumbnails...there's a "remove" link at the bottom of each item in your faves. I find it isn't as fast as opening the item (particularly opening a new window by pressing and holding "shift" while opening the card) and removing by clicking on the heart. That's because it reloads the page after each "remove". If you're fast you can usually catch 2-3 "remove" buttons before it reloads.
But I agree with you about wanting to be able to add to faves from the thumbnails page. That would be nice sometimes!
Different reasons....sometimes they use a stamp or paper or something that I have. I almost always plan to case it if I favorite it. Once I case it, I usually unfavorite to keep room in my favorites for additions.
Anything that I feel I can CASE. In most instances I do not end up CASEng them, but at least they are in my favs to view when I need a nice gallery at my fingertips.
