I don't think I am going to buy any more foam tape. Surely it is possible to make shaker pouches without it, should I ever run out. I guess you would just cut out multiple frames and glue them together. And I should probably swear off buying colored pencils. I just LOVE them though, so I don't know if I can keep this one or not! lol...
What sort of things are you going to stop buying?

I say I'm not allowed to buy 12x12 patterned paper but it happens once in a while. I really want to stop buying stencils because, despite good intentions, I do not use them. I do not buy boxes and packaging, ribbon, preprinted embellishments (never the right colors for what I need) and I have never gotten in on the alcohol markers and distress inks craze. No more punch boards, either. I use the envelope one but three others are gathering dust.

I should echo what Sue commented!
I'm not buying colored ink pads these days. I mostly enjoy coloring in line art, so the ink cubes and pads I have are more than enough for my occasional needs.
Probably the main thing that comes to mind, however, is birthday-related sets. I've stocked up on those over the last few years since I make them often for myself and for my church but I have enough options now.
I've stopped buying stamps. My collection has every image and sentiment I could possibly want and need, and I enjoy the sets I have.
I've also stopped buying dies, for the same reasons as above. My rule of thumb for shopping now is if I can use it up, it's fine to buy it up. Stamps and dies don't fit that criteria so they can't come home with me lol.

I have many coloring mediums, different brands, but many are the same. No more buying coloring mediums. If any markers dry up and I do not have a refill, they will probably go. I do not need patterned paper. I have way more than I can use in my lifetime. I struggle with digital images and have many on my computer, both free and purchased. I rarely use them so I am saying no to digital images.

I am enjoying reading all of the great responses! I found another one to add to my list. Stickers!!! Especially dimensional stickers. I am going through them pulling lots out to share with a charity yard sale. Next on the list to go through is 12 x 12 scrapbook paper. I am keeping what I think will work good on cards. Sorting through this stuff is going to help me better organize my space. And hopefully, some kids or crafters at the yard sale can get use out of it.
Lisa, I love my digis. I have a bunch printed out that I need to get colored. But it can get really overwhelming when you have a lot of them, so I totally understand. My system to organize them is to make folders on a flash drive, (filling each folder to the size of what will store on a cd), then I burn each folder as it fills to a cd for a back-up and print out an index sheet, so I know what is on each cd and flash drive. I'm not saving or buying very many digis, as it is some work to keep them organized.

I have enough of everything but I do still grab things here and there. Esp on sale.
What I definitely wont buy
punches-I have standard shapes for big runs. A few shapes but no more.
glimmer-I never got into that
stitched dies-the work is pretty but I dont want to do it
paper beading or quilling-also pretty but again, dont want to do it.

I replace card stock when it runs low, I use a lot of white and vanilla. Also envelopes. Have not bought DSP in years but somehow cannot resist the freebies during SAB!
I started forcing myself to use liquid glues I accumulated, tape runners come from the $1 store or forget it (and they usually are sold out).
I only buy stamps when I will use it AND have nothing like it, which is maybe 5 a year - but if they are free and I need card stock then WELCOME HOME (LOL).
I have prices marked on everything in my craft room, because someday others will have to deal with it all. Their garage sale is barter ready.

I, too, have told myself not to buy more punch boards. I have three and they all collect dust. They look so cool, but I don't use them.
I'm trying not to buy anything new (except maybe paper) for the rest of the year. I have so much stuff I need to use more of it.
Fortunately, I didn't buy many punch boards. I only have the envelope one; just don't ask how often I've used it! lol..
I went through my 12x12 DSP, and was surprised at how much I had to donate. The box I put them in is just a little under two inches thick, so that is a decent amount. I really didn't think I had that much that was geared towards scrapbooking. I hope it sells well and people enjoy it! Same with the stickers I set aside. I still have other things in my craft room to go through.
My next question is what will I do about my glitter paper. I have some pretty ones I got from Walmart, but they do shed glitter. Wondering if I should share that or buy some that doesn't shed. I know the kind I have will cut easily in the Cricut and it is pretty. Trying not to spend money, so I think I'll keep it. I have a card stock pack from Hobby Lobby (Paper Studio), but I don't know if I can cut it in the Cricut .

Sequins! I have SO MANY different colors and shapes I bought because they were pretty or I thought 'the price is right--I'm sure I'll use them on something' and then never did. I find I only use a couple colors at most and the rest are taking up space.
I'm also admittedly a paper hoarder and this past summer donated quite a bit to a local place that supplies school art programs. I never thought I'd say it, but it felt really good to give it away and know it was being put to good use instead of sitting in my craft room in a (carefully labelled) box for 'someday'!

There is a lot of stuff I never bought (sequins, glitter, glitter paper, almost every kind of embellishment). My thing is Christmas stamps so I limited myself to ONE set this year (Christmas Scottie from S.U.). I think don't buy much DSP until I look at my stash. So no more DSP. And no more Distress or Distress Oxide ink pads. I don't use what I have. I don't like mixed media/watercolor, etc so don't need Distress stuff.

You'd think from looking at my room that i've never stopped buying, but y ou'd be wrong. When I started with Stampin' UP! , I became much more mindful about my purchases. Now, I ONLY buy SU - no more hitting every independent scrapbook store on the east coast (when there used to be such).
About 20 - 40 cards with a stamp set, i'm pretty much done with it. I have a sub set of "keepers" but otherwise, no, They go on a shelf for a year to see if I use them, if I don't - I offer them to my customers for cheap. What's left go to my downline for her customers. They don't want it? Consignment sale. Doesn't sell? Donated. SOMEBODY will use it, it doesn't have to be me.
I send, sell or donate about 600 cards a year and have classes. Stuff gets used and replaced. I don't buy glitter, sequins or pretty much anything that will make a mess.

I, too, never bought a lot of the things mentioned above, but I still have plenty of everything! I've made hundreds of cards over the last three years, especially during the lockdowns: mostly with papers both 12 x 12 and A4, but the pile of paper doesn't seem to be any smaller than it was when I started. OK, so I will have just used part sheets of some papers so the rest is still stored, but a lot of 12 x 12s got cut into four and made into four cards. Haven't bought any 12 x 12 all year; praise be that I don't actually like this year's Stamperia Christmas papers!

I have a crazy amount of 12 x 12 designer paper, and a decent stash of 6x6. I should not buy more, but my self-control is lacking in this department.
Same with ribbon. I love ribbon. I could wrap the world a few times with my stash!
I have not stamped much this year since mom moved in with us in February. I did some challenges for VSN & DTGD, but literally nothing else. On the one hand, this means I haven't even thought about new purchases. On the other, my hands are getting restless and so I am tempted to peak at some stamping sites. Mom moves into assisted living later this month. Check back with me in October. ;)

Aww, geez. I don't need to buy anything ever till well past eternity. However, when a papercrafting expo hits town at the ends of the earth after three long years, need is quickly defenestrated and out comes the cash!!! Lol!

I am doing my best NOT to give into temptation to go because I (and my friends) WILL buy stuff. The good thing is that the closest show is 2 hours away - something to think twice about!

Reason: clarification
I love designer paper, but have stopped buying non SU brands some years ago. I love ribbon too and don’t need any more, but I still do. But I’ve pretty much stopped buying anything that is not SU as it is too hard to match colors. And SU is high quality so worth the money in my opinion.

Like most of you, I have lots of everything so I just ordered a few things that I needed and a few things I knew I would use since I am running out. Am definitely not ordering as much this year.

When I decided to become a SU demonstrator several friends asked how I felt about using only their products. I explained that if SU does not sell something similar I am permitted to use other brands and second I found FREEDOM in limiting myself to their catalog. There is no pressure to have it all LOL - meaning all the things offered by a massive industry. The majority of my non-SU items were purchased before 2005 but on occasion I find something irresistible.
However I always have outsourced adhesives (except when actually demonstrating) as SU does not offer much that is suitable for my climate. But I love their rubber stamps and the way everything is color coordinated and I agree that typically the quality and customer service is very good!

I will definitely keep buying foam tape, because I never use it for shaker cards, but use it for adding dimension to my die cuts. I buy foam tape in a HUGE roll on Amazon and keep it hanging on a hook right next to my craft table. I can cut off the size I want, and even cut it lengthwise for a narrow piece.
However, I have vowed to stop buying patterned paper, ribbon, pre-made embellishments of any kind (because I have so many that I've been hoarding over the years). Also, no stickers, and no card stock unless it's heavyweight solid colors for card bases, or a really basic color (like black) that I use for mats. Oh yes, and NO MORE INK PADS!!
I browsed online the other day and added stuff to my cart, and then cleared it all out when I realized I already had three unopened packages of that same color card stock. Eeek!

Awk...Dew Drops! I have a bunch of them but never put them on cards because they're too bulky to send through the mail. However, I am in love with enamel dots and will probably still buy those if they're on sale. Wood veneer shapes are something I've avoided using too, but just recently pulled some out and put them on a card, and now I think I'll go a little wood veneer-crazy. Flair, however, is too bulky and impossible to adhere to a card without it falling off (same with metal).

They're like buttons (the kind you pin on your shirt or jacket) without the pins. They were very popular some years ago in scrapbooking and card making.

Did anyone ever actually use them on scrapbook layouts or cards though? They were always so bulky that I just couldn't bring myself to use them. Still have some in my stash but I may give them to my grandkids for craft projects. Lots of cute designs, but just too bulky and thick.

Yes, I know a lot of people who did, and now they're regretting it. I've used some on cards, but the ones I really liked rusted, and I had to throw them away.
I have been trying to use what I have instead of buying. I found myself spending too much time looking for things rather than creating. I had to face the fact that I have too much stuff. Have I stopped buying completely? No, I’m not that good, but I have cut way back.

It seems like most of us have slowed down on our buying and are trying to use more of what we already have. It makes me wonder how stamp companies can stay in business, especially since I keep seeing the same designs over and over again. Of course, many stamp businesses have gone out of business, which is sad to see, but understandable. The COVID shut down was a part of that, but I think that buying had slowed down way before then. I remember the buying frenzy that accompanied the whole scrapbooking trend back in the day, when many crafters (myself included) just couldn't stop buying!

Wow, I guess I'm even more happy that I never used them on a layout or card because rust can ruin your project. Mine are all still in perfect condition, sitting in their packages in my craft drawers, haha!
Wish I could say the same about those clear dimensional shapes that all turned yellow, even in the packages. I bought a lot of those and the ones I used ruined when I added them to.
