Default What is EZmount, TIO&) and ....

I'm just starting to read all the info about unmounting my stamps. I can't seem to find a simple explanation of EZ mount, TIO&O and Tack & Peel. What are these products? I gather they are used in one of the steps to unmounting stamps. What can you buy them? Any video "how to" links out there? HELP!!

Yep, all ways to get stamps to stick to an acrylic block.

EZ mount is a foam cushion that you stick to your stamps and uses static cling to stick to your block temporarily each time you use the stamp

TIO&O is a repositionable adhesive that will last for many, many uses before you need to "top it up" - you just paint it onto the back of your stamps

Tack n Peel is a film that you put on your acrylic block that makes the bare rubber die cling to the block.

If you use TIO&O or Tack n Peel you may need to stamp onto a cushy surface (mouse mat, fun foam, old magazine...) to get a good impression when you stamp as there's no cushioning going on at the other side of the stamp.

I'm in the UK so I'll let somebody on your side of the Pond suggest local sources for you to buy.

HTH!

Think Joanne answered your question very succintly there
I unmounted most of my stamps and have no regrets at all.

By the bye Joanne congratulations on your article in the June issue of Craft Stamper - love your faux ivory piece

I am another unmounted rubber user and Joanne said just about all! I use TIOAO and have not had a problem with any of my stamps since I switched in 2005! I do not use any cushion and get clean - clear impressions every time I stamp...I love this system less storage, easier to see where you are stamping and I may have saved a tree?

EZ mount comes in regular thickness, about as thick at SU foam. It also comes in a thin variety, about half as thick. I use the EZ thin on all but the smallest stamps. For those, I use Aleene's TIO&O, much easier than cutting and mounting those little bits of rubber.

Money Saver Alternative...........

I dont use either product for my plain rubber (un-mounted) stamps. I just use a piece of double sided poster tape to secure the rubber to the block. It takes a very tiny piece and works again and again if you are using several different stamps for one project.

EZ Mount can get very expensive if you have a lot of stamps you want to convert; and I cant stand the tacky residue of TIO&O on my precious stamps because you do eventually have to reapply/clean your stamp/etc.

You should give it a try and see what you think. Some people will swear that you dont get a nice impression this way but I can show you many, many images stamped this way and the impression is perfect. I do stamp on a foam mat though, so maybe that is why some people dont get a good impression (they forget about the paper mat or foam mat underneath).

Just something to think about! Whatever you choose have fun!!
