Do place a piece of thick cardstock under the image you are coloring with your Copics or you will have a duplicate of that image on your kitchen table!
Don't position your wastebasket just to the right of your elbow and below the edge of your craft table...I can't tell you (literally can't tell you) how many things I've inadvertently "lost" that probably slid into the trash! Most stamping stuff is so small it just slips right in there before I know it...and I have such a precise inventory of all my embellishments (all 50,000 of them, mostly brads...)....Also, don't panic if you goof up on the inside sentiment (it's crooked or some ink on the edge of the stamp got on there)...it's not ruined..Just stamp it on a separate piece of paper, cut out and glue on...As a beginning stamper I thought everything had to be perfect and the card would be NG (no good) if it didn't have a pristine sentiment on the inside. Who's goin' know really??
Love this thread.....Hey, aren't inky hands, clothes, boobs part of the deal?? They're badges of honor in my book!

Don't leave your Stamp N Scrub, freshly washed, out under the hot Texas summer sun to dry for more than 60 seconds....unless you want mini scrubber pads that is!!!
Oh how true that statement is! That is SO funny!
Sort of similar but a bit different is the following story. Several summers ago I visited my folks in San Angelo, TX. We went wading in our shoes in the creek near their house. When we got back I laid my sneakers out to dry. Two hours later they were completely dry including the plastic lumps stuck to the inside of my shoes. Just a few days earlier I had been fitted for ortho inserts and was told to wear the plastics until my real ones came. Well dumb 'ol me left them in my shoes to dry. In Texas heat in August they melted to the insides of my shoes...ewwwww....
I now return you to your regularly scheduled plans...

Never store your rubber stamps in direct sunlight; it deteriorates the rubber. And, avoid oil or oily cleansers; we all know what happens when you mix condoms and vaseline, savvy? ;)
You can laugh all you like, but, I really am serious![/QUOTE]
Serious about the stamps or the condoms?!? You have TWO kids right?

I'm pretty sure this is how several people have ended up with either their youngest or oldest child.....
Here's my tip: If you like to stand when you stamp, stand up before you put the stamp to paper. Changing positions when you stamp is never a good idea.
I too have some loverly stamped images of my boob. I have also flipped the open pad onto my leg, (among other things). And lets not even get into the glitter. Watch out for the paper cutter. That %*%$##*( blade is SHARP!!! Bled like a stuck pig at a class. ICK! Good thing my tetus is up to date!!
But its fun or we wouldn't keep coming back for more!!

So true. When you get home from shopping for supplies, leave them in the car until DH isn't around, then get them into the house and put away before he notices.
Ha Ha so true! But then a couple of weeks he asked how did fill up your scrap room so fast?

You think like I do!! My DH never sees my purchases until I've used them a few times.. Then I get to say, no, this has been around for a longgg time now.

One should never lie to a hubby. Never ever. So much better to respond such as, 'I bought that set the same time you bought your new fishing reel, remember?' Or, 'I picked that up when I was shopping last weekend while you went golfing.' It's a little bit devious, maybe, but not a lie! Best, of course, is simply to avoid this topic with hubby at all times.
That said, my hubby is wonderful and didn't bat an eye (almost needed CPR but didn't blink) when I bought the Grand Champion market lamb at the county fair Friday night. I explained I can write off on my taxes everything over market value as advertising. And it sold quite a bit over market value... he's just a dear! Of course, the year I bought a duck for $125 at the auction I thought he'd vaporlock on me....

rent a mail box at the local ups store and have your purchases sent there
renting a mailbox would cut into the stamping budget *EEK* Cant have that!!!, I "sneak" my purchases into the house too LOL I think he is going to notice that I have been doing that because my craft space is expanding and I need more storage ;) LOVING this thread, it's so funny!!!
This has been just too funny, from boobs to Vegas hoo-haas, bald spots, and unexpected babies, thanks for the chuckles!
to add to the list -
If the blade in your hot knife breaks off and falls on your carpet, don't pick it up with the wad of papertowels you used to clean your scissors with OMS (they were pretty blue flames though!)
Buy an extra versamark pad and label one with *No not this one*. You keep the labeled one for when you want a nice clean watermark and the other one is the one where you stamp the stamps that weren't clean enough
Don't clean your brand new super-duper sharp scissors by pulling the scissor thorugh a papertowel (no stitches thankfully, and my tetnus shot is already up to date)
Don't have a major stamping session using a lot of stazon on inks the night before you have to give a presentation to a major client because you really do have to shake hands at some point
when you buy supplies, put them away. Don't stack that thin pack of clear stamps with your junk mail while you talk on the phone with your sister as you'll be looking for that stamp until you shred the junk mail
Keep your stack of junior mints out the direct line of heat from the heat gun (if not, you'll look really stupid trying lick the mints off your work table)
Put labels on any storage container that you can't see through. Oh, sure, you think you'll remember what is in that container, but a week from now you'll have a brain fart and have to start looking all over for something that is in plain sight
I keep a basket for new treats until I use them for the first time. If the item is a refill for something I have, I put it away, but if I put new things away I have a tendancy to forget I have it.
Place the covers on pigment ink pads before sprinking the embossing powder on the image, over time the EP will gunk up the pad. Same with glitter-keep the stamp pads closed before opening the bottle of glitter. Also don't bring in stamping stuff when your husband is home, leave in the trunk of the car until the coast is clear and remember to take the prices off all stamping supplies and put away immediately.
LMBO! What a great thread...but on a serious note...not sure this has been mentioned as I did not read the WHOLE thread...
I was just informed that you MUST NOT store EZ Mount on acetate! I just made the cutest little stamp organizers for my Hanna's, Little Paper Shop, There She Goes, etc. as well as a few unmounted Rileys and apparently there is a chemical reaction with the EZ Mount and acetate. But fear not...the other clear stamps get to live quite happily in their adorable new home!!
In response to dealing with 'eyebrow raising husbands' I'm all for manipulation...even a little extra somthin' somthin'...if you know what I'm sayin'...yikes...what does that make me?!?!?!?!?!

Hmmm... so this means that most of us are in the *Sistahood of Closet Stampers* whether we have stampin' rooms or not? ;)
May God bless, Sandi

Thanks for all the laughs on this thread, there have been some LOL moments for sure! I have also caught a boob in my Cropadile (just last weekend actually!).
My 'ask me how I know this' advice would be 'don't blow down your paper funnel when pouring embossing powder back into the jar'. Not my finest moment...
Also, when you use StazOn as a temporary tattoo, be prepared to have to scrub very hard to get it all off (refer attached pic of DH and I at a fancy dress party - the theme was 'You wouldn't wear THAT to my party!).

LMBO "Brain Fart"   I have sooooooo been there, I say it's baby brain and it lasts until the youngest turns 30!!!!
Ladies, all good pieces of advice!!
My tip - stamp your sentiment first - then you don't ruin a beautiful finished card. I must say thank you - not just for the good tips but I have never laughed so hard - there were actually tears coming out of my eyes:p

this is so true. no, he will not notice the big box ups just dropped off, while ya'll were gone for dinner, as ya'll pull up into the driveway. then you here the kids say "mom! another big box for you again" hehehe  lol

Wear a full body apron. You never know when you'll lean over an ink pad and end up with an imprint on your boob. ;)
Ok, were you in the same room with me when I was stamping while pregnant with my third child? I swear, you must have been...because that is EXACTLY what happened to me!
Don't forget to clean your stamps after every use - and use a good cleaner that will also condition your stamps. I have stamps over 20 years old that still stamp nice crisp images because they get cleaned and conditioned every time I finish using them!
What stamp cleaner do you recommend. I've only been at this a few years and already I have a couple of stamps that are hard and ruined. I tried a few homemade cleaners in the beginning but quickly saw the rubber on a couple of stamps getting hard. Now I only use SU but wondered if you like any others for thier conditioning qualities.

Is this true? I've got all my EZ mounts stored on the pages of a really old photo album.

Yes, it is true. Sunday International has a disclaimer on their website. And, I have had my stamps fuse with acetate sheets. It happened pretty quickly too. :(

If you are looking for one that will also make your space SMELL fantastic...try the Hanna Stamps cleaner...I have no idea what's in it...but it freshens my room every time I use it!!!:-D
If you are embossing and make a mistake do NOT turn it over and emboss on the other side! I got cardstock stuck to the table at church when I did this. I blame it on my SU demo, she just HAD to go to the bathroom and she KNOWS not to leave me alone unsupervised!

Thank you so much for a near disaster averted. None were fused but all had the wrinkles from the acetate slightly embossed in the EZ. Now I'll go looking for the right way to store them.

Oh good grief! Now everyone at the office is staring at me wondering why I laughed so loud!
Thank you. You made my afternoon! That was even better than the inked boobs.
Don't run your fingers along the blades of your scissors to remove "sticky gunk" it may hurt.
Definitely a bad idea. I did this with brand new scissors. Lets just say blood on a card doesn't make for a nice gift.
Not sure if anyone has said this or not, but organization is key. I feel like I'm constantly changing things around to better organize them. Once they're organized and easier to find I feel like I use them more. This is especially true with my acrylic stamps! I've put them in a binder and I pull them out way more now than I did when they were in a stack on my desk.
