Ahhh I love the idea of shirts. Wouldn't we be a hoot?! We could form our own little posy! And if that were to happen, we'd get our picture taken as a group, right? For all those scrapbookers, can you just imagine the page now? Can I just say that I love checking this thread!! We must keep it rollin till convention next year! Who's in with me?! Kristy, who would have thought you would have started such a fade with your subject line of this thread?!!
I like purple, but I think pink would look more innocent....lol. As far as who designs it maybe we should have a contest, as well as a poll for shirt color.

I love checking it too. I'll definitely keep up with this thread over the long haul. The pictures would make a great layout, maybe tuck the transcript from this thread in as hidden journaling.
As far as the t-shirt goes, I have an idea for a design, but how would I go about showing it to everyone?
I've worked on a t-shirt design at zazzle.com. Click here for a picture of the shirt in my gallery.
Their site is easy to use to design your own t-shirt. You can use your own image or one of theirs. The emo angel I used is one of their images.
Now it's your turn
Well, I didn't know you couldn't have a picture in your gallery that was not stamped or a picture of a stamping event, but the moderators said it was okay to send it as an attachment in a forum thread. I hope this works because I have never tried to do an attachment on a forum thread before.
I see you are from Ohio. I am from north central Ohio. My upline and I are starting to save and plan to go next year. We will be working to try to get some others from Ohio to go along too. We would love to meet you and "hang" at convention with a SCS friend.
Let's plan on having dinner together the night before Convention starts (is this a good time?). I'll keep a list of everyone who wants to get together, and we can anticipate the excitement of days to come! We could find a restaurant near the palace that can accommodate all of us (depending on how many we are!). Anybody game? If so, I'll add you to the list, and send an email reminder in the weeks preceding convention!
Count me in. I am sure my upline would agree too:p
I just went to my first convention and here are some tips....:
-Be a friend to make a friend!! I knew no one going to convention and I met some amazing gals on the track 11 thread here and we are all now buddies...for life
-Comfy shoes....well worn....I got blisters on day one and my feet still ache!
-Be prepared to wait, wait, wait...all good fun...bring swaps to pass the time!
-Hotels closest to Salt Palace: Plaza, Shiloh, Marriot (there are several -check the addy), Radisson.
-Plan an extra day to recover and sightsee!
-My biggest mistake was signing up for too much and having no downtime - firsttimer's mistake!
Have fun planning and I hope to see you all there next year!

OH MY MY MY!!!!! THAT IS FABULOUS!!! How on earth did you create that?? I got a grrrreat chuckle outta that!! Only good of course!!!! That is great!!!

I created it on Zazzle.com. You can create your own t-shirt from one of their images or one you upload. I used one of their images. The shirt color and style as well as the font color can be changed if everyone votes on a different color.
I tried playing around on that site...came up with a shirt and when I tried to save it, the page would go right back to the beginning...hmm. I am definitely not techno-savy. But I like the site and think it would be perfect to setup so other gals on here could purchase.
Though...I have no idea what the graphic could be on the shirt.
That is so funny!!!! I do like the sound of it....
I'm waiting on my first order to get here...I expedited (2 days) so that my order was here before I left to go to the shore all next week. I'm hoping to take a stamp set or two with me.
For the past 10 years or so, my mother, my 2 sisters, an aunt, a cousin and her daughter, and assorted brothers, SIL's, BIL's, nieces and nephews (and now their husbands and their kids) get a house (or two) down the shore (Ocean City, NJ) for a week. So, we leave this coming Saturday.
The past two years, it has actually been SO hot, sitting on the beach was not enjoyable. So, this year, I thought I'd take a stamp set or two and the necessary supplies....this will not only give me a chance to play with some new stuff...but....hopefully, get some people interested too.....once in awhile, it would be nice to have someone to stamp with....and maybe some help meeting the quarterly minimum?????
I've started putting some money away for convention. I quit smoking two weeks ago...so the money that I would normally be spending on cigarettes is being broken down like this:
1. covering the cost of the patch....after that 10 week program...that money will be my stamping fund ($100 per month = quarterly minimum)
2. 1/2 of the money going to the convention fund
3. balance will be used to increase my 401(k) deduction (hey, if I quit smoking now, I may live longer, right?????)
Still have to hit that website to try out designing a t-shirt. Anyone else done one yet? Since I have to take the laptop with me next week to check in at work (and keep up around here), I'll give it a shot...after my sisters, cousin and I have a few drinks.....could be interesting....stay tuned! ;)
Glad I subscribed to this thread so I can find it a bit more easily.
The T-shirt is really neat....if you decide to take orders/money...please let me know. I'd like to get one. Are you guys staying in a particular hotel? Are there any activities that are planned yet...meet and greet, meals, swaps, etc? Just curious and hope to be part of the group.

Dito!! How fun would it be for us all to stay in the same hotel or at least try to meet for a dinner? ANyone like to take charge?!!
I started all this so I guess I can! All virgins who wanted to be added to the list PM me so we know how many of us there are, and we can try to plan some stuff!

don't worry about not having someone to attend with, find a new friend here on SCS.
Does anyone on scs want to be my friend?!
While I'm not a demo, I'd be happy to be your SCS friend ... I'm fairly harmless, lol.
I'm getting so jealous hearing you guys talk about convention, that it makes me want to jump on the bandwagon myself & sign on as a hobby demo. I used to sell CM & went to convention once & had a blast!!! It DOES make it so much more fun to go with a 'buddy', that's for sure. Who knows ... this time next year, maybe I will see some of you there ... hmm
Good luck & have fun to all!

I've been a demo almost a year, I have no direct upline contact, so I've done it on my own (with help from the demo and SCS websites) I now have 2 down line and I want to make a real go of it.
How did you become a demo yourself if you don't have an upline - can you sign up via SU direct? (Just curious, I do have a demo I use)

Okay, I just finished reading all your posts. You guys are a hoot! Okay, without asking my demo ... (and having her push me for the next few months) ...
1. What is the start up cost to become a hobby demo?
2. What is the quarterly minimum (monthly, annual, etc)
3. Is the minimum based on retail price or SU demo price?
4. What is demo's price on this stuff?
(I've even gotten so far as downloading the demo application forms, but haven't read them yet, but I'm sure if its anything like CM - they're not going to spell out the details there.)
5. If you are an SU demo - can you work for or design for other companies?
If nothing else, at least I enjoyed hearing about all your experiences and plans for the next conventions - thanks for that!!!

When I said that I had no upline contact, I meant that my upline has not spoken with me or contacted me since I signed up. She would need to sell $400 p/month to get 3% of what I make (she doesn't).
Mary
So I just found this thread (and am writing in purple so my comment doesn't get lost with the questions I've answered below). You ladies are great! I've been a hobby demo for only the past year, and although I'm close to SLC didn't go to Convention. I would have had my husband had time off to watch the kiddos and had we had the money. We used his time off and our money to go to Brazil in June...it was definitely worth it. I'm hoping to go next year, but don't know yet if it will work...it's hard with so many little ones to care for! Anyway, heavensent, you may have already received answers to your questions, but maybe my answers will help someone else that's reading here! I'll keep following this thread and will definitely want to hook up with y'all if it works out to go next year!

1. What is the start up cost to become a hobby demo? Right now you can sign up for only $99...the special they've got going on. A "hobby demo" has the same minimums (see $2) as a "regular demo", but we make our minimums on our own instead of with the help of customers.
2. What is the quarterly minimum (monthly, annual, etc) $300/quarter...if you sign up right now, your first quarter doesn't start until October, so you'd have until December to make your first minimum.
3. Is the minimum based on retail price or SU demo price? The minimum is retail price...not the price after the instant income/discount.
4. What is demo's price on this stuff? This is my favorite part...20% off anything in the catalog. Things purchased from the supply list (order forms, catalogs, business related "schtuff" etc.) don't count towards your minimum and aren't discounted.
(I've even gotten so far as downloading the demo application forms, but haven't read them yet, but I'm sure if its anything like CM - they're not going to spell out the details there.)
5. If you are an SU demo - can you work for or design for other companies? There are various opinions on this. I'd call Stampin' Up! to get their official say on this. Clearly I don't work for or design for other companies, otherwise I'd have an answer. Maybe someone else can help me out with that one.
If nothing else, at least I enjoyed hearing about all your experiences and plans for the next conventions - thanks for that!!!

I think I may be can set it up for sale on Zazzle so everyone can order direct from there. I will have to check into it more, but I'll let everyone know for sure. I think we should start a poll on everyone's favorite design and color after we have more people submit their designs here on the forum.

Thanks for all the help - looking more promising. Only thing is ... with $300 per quarter, how will I justify all the other stamps I like (Penny Black, Impression Obsession, Whipper Snapper, House Mouse ...) ... Omygosh, what's a girl to do?

Congratulations and you have my support...amazing how much money you will save, as well as your life and the lives around you! Whoo hoo! Watch that stamp collection grow! Have fun at the beach and I look forward to next convention to meet you!
Is it August 2009 yet?! I'm down in the dumps at the thought of starting another school year. And at the thought that I won't be checkin in at SCS as often because I won't be home to enjoy it!
Congratulations for taking the first step for a smoke free life. Hnag in there, you can do it.
Collette, I am a hobby demo, with a couple of customers to help me make the monthly minimum. I have found I am doing less shopping, especially for cardstock, paper. SU price with the discount is really good deal. I only go to Michael's or HL with a coupon.
Let's keep this thread going, would love a t-shirt. I have uplines that always go to convention, but they are in the founder's circle, and very busy at convention.

Hope all in this thread are well! =)
I'm with you...can't believe I only have a week of summer left! Although, I really love my job, as I teach high schoolers healthy cooking (food makes me quite popular!). I just hope this year rolls by so we can all meet! I don't think I could take teaching preschool or kindergarten...too many bodily fluids!
I like the idea of having some kind of t-shirt with our "virgin" designation on it, as we are an elite club at convention, but, like all virgins, only once! And just as KdgTeacherStamper and I don't look forward to school starting, I bet all of you mothers are making big X's across each calendar date, just waiting for the school bus to honk!
Anyone on the thread from MN, WI or Iowa? Would be fun to meet up like the gals from OH & IN. ;) We should be easy to spot in our CV t-shirts. Wouldn't it be neat to have a "group" photo???

Cool.....I think they are so neat and would be fun to wear...especially while traveling and during convention! ;)

It actually comes out to about $240 with the discount. Do you have friends that like stamping? I used to be my best customer and then found some gals in a card group and share my discount with them. It works out great...I get the SU items I like but can still afford the copics, nesties, other stamps, etc. Can you tell I'm trying to sweet talk you into it so you can go to convention? ;)

I had to laugh!!! You mentioned about not being able to teach preschool or kindergarten because of all the bodily fluids!! hahaha....You have no idea some of the stories I could tell you about!! I had a boy that was 7 in my class (oldest child by far) and sadly to say, I had to call the nurse down at least once a week to clean him up because he either went 1 or 2 in his pants. I feel bad for the child but by golly, he was 7!!! I literally could write a book on the subject!!!
