the image is still pending approval but I can see the thumbnail (I think...is it on kraft with a strip of red and the stamped image is matted with torn blue?)
I think it's a gorgeous card exactly as it is but if you wanted to ink the hemp with the same blue as you matted the stamped image it might "pop" a little more if that's what you're looking for.
I think the red piece needs a background stamped onto it, and also maybe a brad or eyelet in the center of the notch flap (if that makes sense). Otherwise, I think it looks nice.
i think your stamped image is just beautiful. in my learning process, i take the time to closely study the cards of the artists i admire the most. one of the things i noticed is that very seldom do they put a large piece of unstamped cs on a card. almost always it has something on it...even if it is nothing more than the linen or canvas. for example, i would probably try stamping the red piece with either linen or canvas in close to cocoa. it might soften it a little and tie it in with the brown of the boat. this of course is just a possibility...i'd have to try it and see if i liked it. the nice part about experimenting is that if you don't like it on this card, you can just save the paper and it will probably work on something else. happy stamping!
I like the addition of a background stamp on the red cardstock and perhaps a touch of antique hardware somewhere on the card...spiral clip, brads in corner, etc.
Wow, I like that card, the colors and the placement of your elements is very pleasing to my eyes.
I do agree that just a bit of texture on the larger background pieces would add a little. I usually let the background be the background, and often go for tone on tone, either with a versamark or the same color ink. I like the dotted stamp from itty bitty backgrounds and use that stamp a lot.
When you decide what to do, post it here so we can see.

We must think alike, because that it what I used! I also added a black brad and lost the hemp.
Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. I like this one much better.
