I wish I had a stamp, but I write this on the bottom of every card: "made for you with love by merry" in all lower-case letters. Then I have a very retro stamp of a woman opening a piece of mail and I stamp that in the corner, over the sentence, with the year under it.
I wish I could find a company that would make a stamp of exactly that sentence, without their own words.
I wonder if Whimsy stamps would be able to. They make personalized stamps, here is the link.
I have about 20 or so back stamps. I try to match the stamp with the theme of the card I'm making. One of the funniest is: This better not go in the trash!
I have a couple of different "handmade for you" by stamps with my name. AND I also put a bible verse on the back. It's my way of sharing Jesus with others and you never know if you've planted a seed...
I got a custom made stamp from All That stamps done with my name on it for something like $7; I have seen lots of places that will do a custom made stamp with your name or address on it. Also--lots of local places that do business type things, will also make stamps--think of places that would do business cards or address things--they will often make single line stamps fairly cheaply.
Way back when, I used to use address labels, I had a photo tool and would print out "handmade by Holley" and could use a photo of myself on them too. Too cute!
Wow, I seem to be the odd one out. I actually don't put anything on the back of my cards. To me, I think it's pretty obvious when I give a card to someone that I made it. I'm writing a note on the inside and signing my name (or both my husband and my name) so I don't feel like I need to put anything on the back.

Just a gentle suggestion, Tracy. I just strolled through your gallery and you do beautiful work. I might even say "works of art." Artists should sign their work. Maybe you can reconsider.
I'm just a sentimental romantic at heart and I can visualize people saving your cards, and someone finding them in a box some day. I think it would be lovely if they could turn over the card, see your name with a handmade stamp, and say, "Oh my goodness, she made this."

On SU you can put on the personalized ones anything you want instead of your Name and Address, I just did it 2 weeks ago and have received it, the printing wasn't as large as I would like it. I uses #115582 and put Hoping that each day
finds you feeling
more and more
like your wonderful self.
I have several made by stamps that I use. I mostly use a stamp I had made for me on e bay. It's a heart with scrolls around it that just says my name. I just put the year inside the heart under my name. People always ask me where I got it.

SU has a stamp you can personalize with your name. Mine says "Created by Barney". I write the year on the back of the card too. My mom has kept every card I've ever sent her, and it's fun to go through the box and see how horrible I was in the beginning and how much I've progressed.
I have a 2-initial stamp I bought at a convention several years ago and use that all the time. It's my first and last name first initials intertwined together. Company no longer in business. Wish I had bought two at the time as this one is getting kinda smushed looking :>)
I have several, one is a horse head looking over a text box that says hand stamped by Betty.
Another says:
Rubber stamps - $7500
Supplies - $5000
Handmade card from me - Priceless
another says something like:
This card is an original work of art, any smudges, ink spots or imperfections are part of the creative process and not to be confused with a mistake etc. I don't remember the whole phrase but you get the idea
I sent a Christmas card to a girl I know from Church and she told me one day how much she loved it and how she is going to keep it and display it every Christmas. I thanked her and told her that stamping is my favorite thing to do, and she was shocked I had made it (I hadn't signed the back). Ever since then, I either use a handmade by stamp or at least write my initials and the year.
I have been making cards for quite some time now and my Mom suggested that I put something on the back to say that I made it. What stamp do you guys use? Do you know of a good site to order a stamp?
Thanks!
I ordered a stamp from Expressionery . . . a little high priced (even with a coupon) but it's quick, professional, and easy-queasy to use. I actually have 3 different designs to use depending on the type of card I made.

I have a stamp from Class Act that says 'It took hours to make this card...act impressed!'
I use it a lot. Sometimes the back of my cards are decorated almost as much as the front. I use a 'created by' from SU and usually a small image that relates to the front image with other stuff (small stickers etc) thrown in for good measure. LOL

You can try at a UPS store. I did that many years ago.
I use this personalized stamp that says "Designs by Becky" and a barcode stamp.

On pages 144-145 of the current SU catalog they have personalized stamps you can order. They have text only stamps with up to four lines of text. I have ordered several of these not only for the back of my cards but for sentiments that you just can't find anywhere else. Your sentiment would fit nicely on one of these.
One of my very first stamps from 25 years ago (before stamping was cool) is my first name in simple script from Hero (they don't make that style anymore). I've always colored it half turquoise and half burgundy (don't know how that started). Add 2 sets of mini paw prints for my two babies. Then I write their initial next to a set of prints, and add the year in the loop of the y in my name. If it's missing on a card, people will let me know. I've got several stamped by, created by too, but have always used my name stamp.
I have a couple that I use, (from "The Stamps of Life) but I had one specifically made from Personalized Gifts from Personalization Mall that has a cute giraffe on the left, then it says, "Created by Jann" on it. It's a self inking stamp, but I might just take it off and mount it on a piece of wood. The ink is VERY strong and does tend to leak through to the inside of the card. I also write the year I created the card.
I know that Close to my Heart can create custom stamps for you, but I've never done that...thinking about it though! ;-)
I also have a variety of handmade by or stamped by stamps, but I also often use a small cooridinated stamp on the back instead - on the back of a Halloween card I might stamp a tiny bat and sign my first name underneath it or on the back of a birthday card stamp a small cupcake. When I was teaching stamping I always encouraged my students to sign the back of their cards. I think it is very important to take credit for your artwork!
My favorite is a heart stamp that says From the Heart and under it I initial and date it. I also use a variety of tiny stamps to match the theme along with initial and date. I hate it when I forget to sign a card. I have even taken a couple out of their hands to sign them quick.
I use an Anna Griffin stamp that says handmade by I sign it and date it . I purchased several different colours of Staetdler pens and co ordinate the colour of ink with my project. I also had a stamp made in my handwriting that says From the Heart with a little heart over top.
I bought a cute stamp that I used for the cards I make for my "hockey boys"
This card was made by hand. If you throw it away those same hands will make a doll in your image and stick pins in its butt.
It is part of my charm. LOL

Apparently, I need to start stamping the back of my cards. I am so glad that I have read this thread because there are some really humorous stamps out there for this purpose!
I have two stamps -one says Hand Stamped Original and the other Hand Stamped just for you. I used these when I first started stamping but now I use a favorite butterfly stamp and then sign Bev J '11 in small letters underneath.
I have several SU stamps that I use but my favorite is a very simple stamp that is from Catslife Press "Handmade Card"..I then sign my name. If I am making a card for someone special I will sometimes write "Made especially for XXXX. "
Most towns have a store that makes rubber stamps to order for very little money. If not try the internet. Years ago I went to a local stamp store, not a craft stamp store, and had them make a name and address stamp that I carry in my purse, it is contained in its own case and self inked. No, it has never leaked. It comes in handy when you need to fill in chance tickets of someone asks for your address. They will make a stamp for you with your choice of sayings. You can go back the next day and pick it up. Hope this helps.
Years ago my art teacher told me that anyone who is proud of their artwork always put their signature on it. I always sign and date the back of my cards as well as the back of my scrapbook layouts.

Signing the back of cards
I have several "handmade for you" type stamps and use them on all my cards. My favorite is one that looks like the Hallmark logo...it says "Handmade" and even has a little crown on top. Always sign my name too...but don't date it. I've kept several cards for years, and hate to pull out one for a friend that has something like '08 dated on back. That way they don't know I just didn't make it right up for them the night before. (Is that cheating???)
Years ago I picked up a stamp at a craft store that said "Hand Stamped by" and I would print my name under it, always trying to match color (which didn't always work). Then one day a friend had that made into a stamp so that I no longer had to sign my name. I'm on my third stamp like that as they keep wearing out--I use them on every card! I just go to the print shop that my friend used and have them make me another. She took in one of the cards I sent her, so I'm certain that you can have anything made into a stamp. I wish I could have mine made of vulcanized rubber rather than acrylic as it would last so much longer. I also have a stamp like was used for library books that I stamp the date with under my name. Handmade cards are works of art and should be signed/dated.
I have ordered from paperangels.com: The Leading Paper Crafts Site on the Net They usually have some kind of special going on and free gifts when ordering. I use several different stamps too depending on who and what kind of card I am making~ Most of the cards I make say Tammy's Creations. I just checked out Hambos funny signatures... I think I am going to have to add these to my wish list!
The website quoted above no longer works. Here's the Paper Angel site I think you mean:
I ordered one of their small stamps for the back of my cards and it is just perfect - nice and subtle! They have lots of designs that they customize with your name.

My husband is a Yorkshireman, so I carved a white rose which I used to make our wedding invitations. I now use the stamp to sign the back of my art work. In fact, it's my avatar!
I simply put my three initials intertwined on the back of my cards in gold ink or white ink or color that coordinates with the front of the card. I have always wanted to have a stamp made of a doodle chainlink I always draw and put hand created by my name inside each straight part of the chain link. First to find a good chain link to send to a rubber stamp company!
