If I have music on, I tend to pay "too much" attention and get all sidetracked in my mind, lol. Like what was going on in my life when that song came out.......etc.
So I usually have one of the cable news channels on in the background. It's actually more for my two little housedogs, a toy fox terrier and toy poodle. If they have some background noise, they don't freak out and bark at every little sound from outside.
Also, I hate to have to talk to someone when I'm making cards. I know lots of people love to go to crops, stamp camps, etc. That's not for me. I just can't concentrate at all with real people in the picture.

It depends on what I'm doing and the mood of the day. Sometimes I have TV or music, but if I'm making something difficult I like quiet. I do better when I'm alone as I can't design with a lot of distraction.
I watch television shows or movies on Netflix usually. I got rid of cable television because there is nothing worth watching on any of the channels. Some times I listen to the radio. And there are occasions when I have nothing on. I actually get more done when I work with complete silence.
This is hard to answer! When my daughter was in school, I'd often have the TV on while I stamped (but my back was turned to it, so usually just a rerun or old movie, something to listen to). I should try music of some kind but it's pretty much quiet when I'm in there... trying to keep a low profile and listening for signs of interruption or crises that I had better attend to before someone finds out I've been enjoying myself stamping LOL!! I'm a furtive stamper, I suppose
I usually have the T.V. on but rarely pay attention to it. I will also put a CD in and listen to that. Sometimes I will even put a book on CD in. But half the time I don't hear any of it.

None of the options really represented what I do, so i didn't vote. I usually
-listen to Canadian radio podcasts
-listen to internet radio (Armitage J-pop)
-have a fluffy show playing on my computer (lately it's been Ghost Whisperer)
None of the above, LOL.
We are a no-TV house.
Occasionally music but far more often it's BBC Radio 4.
Broadband and internet radio are a winning combination.
Sometimes I like silence.
Sometimes my DH's guitar-playing and singing filters up from downstairs.
So over-all radio, but none of them is a must-have.
Mind you, I've just been sticking a whole load of CDs onto my PC which should cover most moods.
I clicked on watch tv but I do not really *watch* I listen because my back is to the tv. I used to have a mirror on my stamp table so I could look at the reflection of the tv but I found I am usually so engrossed in stamping that I would just listen anyway so I took the mirror away.
I chose listen to music, but I only do that about half the time. The other half I'm on oneplace.com, listening to Beth Moore, Chuck Swindoll or David Jeremiah.
Nancyruth, I can just picture you watching tv in a mirror - totally something I'd do!!

No electronic noise - just the joyful playing of the cats and dog rummaging in the ribbons, running over the stampin' scrub, jumping on the desk into the middle of a half-made card...that is all the distraction I need!!!
Stampin Annie - THANKS for the link to the 80's radio - Wee Ha I am thrilled - don't have cable, no rabbit ears work in my apt. complex, VCR and TV very old and currently unplugged, wild teenage son broke CD player 2 years ago - NOW I HAVE MUSIC!! John Mellencamp is currently playing and I am not a great fan but can hardly wait to hear whatever else the site has in store!!
I watch TV. I just can't listen to music when I am doing it, lol. Don't know why. I like to watch QVC believe it or not. Something in the background that I am not really paying attention to.
Usually I watch TV....Lifetime in particular. (haha) That or I have music on in the background!! I can't stamp in silence....need something going on in the background.

Thanks for sharing the URL of that website, Lisa. I never knew that existed. Now I have something new to do while stamping.
I'm surprised that watching tv is dead even with listening to music. I think I'd find tv to distracting - my brain needs to relax for the creative juices to flow...
I prefer to have it quiet, but only so I can sing or talk to myself (so it really isn't quiet). If my husband is home, then he watches soccer (in the same room) and I hear it (my back is to the TV) so I am always making snide remarks in response to the commentators.
Another one who listens to internet radio. Usually the BBC because I grew up in the UK and can listen to most of my old favorites on BBC Radio Two. I've found some new faves too - currently listening to the Russell Brand radio show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio...adio2/r2_brand
(Warning - not for the easily offended!)
Most of the time I watch HGTV (or at least have it on). I do like to watch my Netflix movies while I'm stamping, too. On rare occasions (if there's nothing on TV and I don't have a movie) I'll listen to the radio.

i am almost as addicted to HGTV as i am to stamping. so that is almost always on, but i honestly don't watch much of it ... i get too engrossed in stamping. during baseball season, i will also watch the cardinals games if they play in the evening when i am stamping most often. fun thread, by the way!
My house is normally quiet. My stamping room is far from the TV. But sometimes I will stamp a bunch of images, take them out to the living room and color while I watch a Hallmark movie.
If it's a really good movie I have to watch out for teardrops on the cards.
