Default What did you say you'd NEVER get into?

And have you gotten into it?

In chronological order:
Stamping!!!!!!!!!! I was a scrapbooker.
Eyelets - I worried about them denting my pictures, but then I started stamping and they don't hurt things when they're on cards!
3D projects - I don't have good spatial skills and just can't wrap my mind around some of this stuff - but look at the newest DD Gallery!
Pearl Ex - I just didn't see the point of it. I got some with my last order, haven't tried it yet!

I'm eager to hear from all of you!

Scrapbooking, definitely. I was a stamper first!

I remember buying one of the first issues of Creating Keepsakes just out of curiosity and thinking, "I'll never get into this!" Then I volunteered to to my in-laws memory book for the 50th anniversary party. Needless to say, I got hooked!

Come to think of it, I kind of used to think of rubber stamp art as "cheating" since I figured if I wanted a picture of something I could draw it myself (I'm an art major)

Knitting - I used to think it was too slow and I liked crocheting better. Now I prefer to knit and I can whip something out quite quickly if I feel like it!

I started scrapbooking first about six years ago and told my "scrapping" buddies I would NEVER get in to stamping! So much for that...I am hooked like everyone else to this site. It is the most talented group of individuals I have ever seen. I try to make all of my cards I send to family and friends. The last time I sent our son a "store bought" card he wanted to know why he did not get a homemade one?!

stamping because, like Jan said, it seemed like cheating. That it really isn't art because someone else 'drew' the picture. Well that's all gone out the window and I've been hooked for almost 2 years.

Crocheting because when I think of crocheting I think of my grandma sitting in her chair with gaudy colored yarn making baby booties and afghans. Now I sit on the couch with my non-gaudy colored yarn and crochet afghans...LOL I didn't plan on doing this until I was OLD!

I never though I would get into techniques. Now I'm hooked.

I too never thought I would scrapbook. It is a newer hobby for me so I am really slow at it. Although I love making 6x6 pages becuase they are so fast.

STAMPING!!
The first workshop I went to, I walked our early and swore I would never waste my time doing something like that.
.....get the craft and rubber scissors that SU offers. Now it is the best $20 a girl could spend.

I said I would Never, ever scrapbook.

Now I have a large 12 x 12 done, and ABC book of each of my kids, a book going for their school years......

I will say though, I really enjoy the scrapping, but card making is still my first passion!

Stamping...I thought "how boring!". I'll stick to my scrapping. That was until I attended my first SU workshop, lol!! Now, my scrapping has taken a back seat to stamping!

I was a CM scrapbooker all the way and I was never going to get into stamping like my sister was! Then I went to a Stampin Up party and...lets just say my CM stuff has been packed into boxes to make space for my Stampin' Up addiction  One day (soon) I'll get out the scrapbooking stuff again.

Rebecca

Oh, and I was never going to drink anything that remotely resembled coffee. And here I am with my steaming mocha sitting in front of me...I don't know how I'd drag my butt out of bed without a yummy mocha to look forward to!

I loved stamping titles in my scrapbook but swore I would NEVER make cards. Once I finally started making cards......I knew I would NEVER get into tags, I am doing tags but........I will never use ribbon! Yep. The forbidden tags and ribbon are both on my cards and in my scrapbooks.

Stamping! I am a computer guru with editing pictures and playing with graphics and such. One day, my girlfriend invited me to this workshop where they teach you to stamp pictures on paper and color them in. "What?" I said, "Why would I ever get into that when I can print something up just as good?" I went anyway and won a small stamp as a door prize.....6 months later, I'm a Demonstrator! I LOVE IT!!!!!

1 - Stamping. I also like to play with the graphics and used those. Why spend all that money on stamps when I can just print it out? Then I learned that the stamping and neat techniques that go along with it make it look so much more artistic and creative.

2 - Scrapbooking. After the stamping addiction hit, I didn't even want to get started on something else addictive. Then I got talked into going to a fundraiser crop. Since I had all the tools needed for scrapping all I needed was an empty scrapbook and some more paper.

The scrapping took over until I found this wonderful community. Now I need more stamps!

Stamping! I just didn't understand it. I'd scrapbooked for a few years and thought that would keep me busy. I was invited but couldn't make it to the first couple of workshops a good friend had. Then I just had to attend to show my support. The 1st one was so so - but then the 2nd one happened and I booked my own ws. Then that catalog was mine!! That's all it took - 6 months later I signed up as a demo!! Haven't scrapbooked since either - one of these days I'll have to print some pictures and start to catch up.

EYELETS-my best friend and I went to a stamping expo and when we walked in all we could hear was "pound pound pound-tap tap tap" when we saw what it was we were like "that is so noisy and it won't catch on" well we now own many colors and the SU tool kit! we do laugh when we remember that

Stamping! I do toll painting. When my mom and sister started checking out rubber stamping, I envisioned those crappy little stamps kids use. I thought it would be only black ink. How boring. Then I went to my sister's workshop just to support her. That was three years ago and I get more hooked every time I stamp with her. She's awesome!! (terralal, by the way)

Then scrapbooking, Which I love, but not as much as painting and stamping!

I was a scrapbooker first, too. Swore I would never stamp...didn't need another expensive hobby was my reasoning, one was enough. Well two years later I'm a Stampin' Up demo, and haven't completed a scrapbook page for over a year (having guilty feelings about this too).

I was an avid scrapbooker that swore I would never use stamps. Then my SIL showed me how she used SU stamps in her scrapbooks and the current SU catalog. Then I got invited to a workshop by a friend and got hooked on SU. I'm actually a little surprised that so many of you have posted that you pretty much quit scrapbooking when you got hooked on stamping. I wouldn't do stamping if I wasn't putting it in scrapbooks! I do some cards and other projects, but my first love is definitely scrapbooking!

I also said that I would never use eyelets or any other embellishments that would make my work "bumpy" as I used to say. Now I cannot do a single page without eyelets, hemp, magic mesh or something of that sort. I'm trying to stay away from buttons and beads but we'll see how long I can.

I was a scrapbooker with lot's and lot's of scrapbooking stuff and I swore I would NEVER get into stamping! Now I have more stamps and stuff than scrapbook stuff and haven't touched the scrapbook stuff in 2 years!! But omg I can't get rid of it because I never know when I might want to use it!
ha!

Oh and I almost forgot....I was into tole painting before scrapbooking and I still have over 200 books and 200 packets from that not counting all the 300 bottles of paint and the hundreds of dollars I've spent on brushes oh yeah and all the wood I cut out because I was going to paint it!! I'm gonna keep it all though!! You just never know when you might want to paint! Hmmmmm I would not have much sleep if I squeeze in between stamping and scrapbooking! ha! STAMPING RULES!!!!!!!!

stamping 1st then scrapbooking. I was a painter, singer and dancer. I still sing a lot. I had to stop painting one day when the Item I was painting was ruined by my 3 yr old. she thought it needed yellow. It was one of thoses last straw deals. I didn't ever want to be that mad again.... so I had to find a different creative outlet untill the toddler years are over......... I may never go back! I get to play with water color still right!
I am glad I found SU..... totally love at 1st sight!

Being a demonstrator.

I had several friends/relatives I knew that sold Longaberger. I always let it be known that I was NOT a sales person, so don't plan on me as a recruit. Well I found SU! and signed up within a month after I was first introduced to it!

I saw my first rubber stamp in the early 90's and thought, how tacky! A friend of mine tried to get me into it, and I did buy a couple of stamps, but decided it wasn't for me. Then I saw my sister make a card (almost 2 years ago) and I couldn't believe how much better it was than 10 years ago. I signed up that day to be a demo and I'm hooked. But I still don't want to get into scrapping...

Stamping --- My SIL had a show and I went planning to purchase something for her sake but determined not get involved with stamping as a hobby. That was many, many dollars ago.

I couldn't have said it better myself. My SIL(graciev1) has been a stamper for years and always trying to get me into it. I think I finally started letting myself when I had the money to spend. I always said I wasn't creative enought. I still think that sometimes.

After I got into making cards she tried to get me to scrapbook. I had been able to steer clear of it till my mom wanted my help making a few pages for your dad's 80th birthday. After that I really started getting into it and well I'm working on my second book now.

1. Cardmaking- I'm a scrapper. I went to my first SU! WS I got a wheel for my scrapbooks cuz it'd make cute background paper, then durring SAB in 2002 I loved the idea of having an alphabet so I didn't have to keep buying alphabet stickers. "Just think of all the money I'll save on alphabet stickers!" I told my DH.
well that alphabet cost me a lot of $$. I had to have everything that would look cute in my scrapbooks. but, I'd never get into making cards. it just seemed silly. but when I gave away the cards I'd done as make and takes and saw how much ppl liked them, and realized that I'd never have to go to hallmark for just a card again I just couldn't help myself! I now make zillions of cards every year.
2. ribbon- I just didn't get it. but now that I've seen soooo many cute samples w/ ribbon I need it all!!

Eyelets: didn't like all the pounding! Now I'm really getting into eyelets. My son even likes to help me.

Ribbon: didn't like to mess with it! That was until I got the ribbon organizer from Target (thanks to the wonderful SCSer who told us about it!) Now I need more ribbon!
