Japanese Screw Punch -- can punch various size holes anywhere. A bit pricey but I've had it for years and years...
Oh, how could I forget the Japanese screw punch. I love mine so much. Ladies & Guys don't type in Japanese Screw Punch at your favorite search engine unless you want to get an eye opener. Try Japanese Drill Punch.
Perfect Layers tool, small rotary cutter and quilting rulers. I have a lot of other tools I use a lot but these are things I use for every single project I make.
Oh, my! I have so many... many of which have already been listed... but one thing that has not been listed by anyone else ... my CROP-A-DILE! I know SOOOO many people on secret sister lists say DO NOT send eyelets because they do not like to put them on the paper - too hard too time consuming too confusing. I can make 6 cards for a swap with 5 eyelets on EACH (one in each corner and one on an insert for a ribbon to go through) in 10-15 minutes!
Since I am really a stamping purest at heart, I really only need stamps, ink and paper. So the best tool in this case is a good paper cutter. Thought I had it, but now it seems that the paper doesn't line up correctly when tight against the top ridge. Love sponges and brayers as well and it would be hard to get the resulting effects without them. One other tool I could live without, but wouldn't want to, is my Cuttle Bug with it's embossing folders and Nestibilities. Guess that's way more than one, but it can be cut down to the paper cutter only, if I must be limited to the one only.
Beyond the obvious of stamps, ink and cardstock, then mine are my small paper trimmer, my Cutter Bee scissors, Scor Tape (Sookwang), dimensionals, my heat gun and a good variety of embossing powders.
I'm discovering that I use decorative paper less and less as time goes by, but sadly I've got a large stash of it. I like my Cuttlebug, embossing folders, and Nesties but they're not as crucial as the items above.

1.My growing color pencil collection. I luv to color my stamped images & digis/ with them
2. My cutter bee scissors. I don't need a fancy machine to cut items out!!
3 Scorn-Pal when I make my own cards
3. Ranger products ex. alcohol inks, the Distress ink pads. Vintage is my favo. one

Perfect Layers (with craft knife/exacto blade)
I cannot imagine matting a thing without this tool!
(As a matter of fact, I have a back up set and a back up for the back up!)
I absolutely can not imagine living without my Cuttlebug and embossing folders. I also must mention dimensionals. I almost always use them to pop something up on my cards. My favorite are the scotch brand. I use to get them at WalMart for $2.99. Now they don't carry them anymore and I can only find them at JoAnn's for $5.99. Bummer. I like them because they are soft and spongy and flatten out enough to mail but still have a lot of pop when removed from envelope.
Love my CB and all the dies and EFs that go with it! I'm also using my Corner Chomper A LOT...wouldn't want to do without it! Much better than a corner rounder that only goes through one thickness of paper.

Cuttlebug (and all the fun things that go in it) is my favorite, but I start every card using my fiiskers cutter on the cardstock, so it would be a must have.

I use my Perfect Layers ruler almost every time I scrap or make a card. It's a set of two rulers that has a groove underneath so I can cut a perfect mat around something from 1/8" up to 3/4". I don't think they make it anymore but maybe you could find it on Ebay.

I need it all! I tend to sit down to make a card and always find that one thing I don't own that would be perfect to finish it off. I am a fickle stamper and have a new love every week. BUT, I guess if my stamp room was on fire, the first thing I would grab would be my most beloved stamps in one arm and my Big Shot and all the dies and folders I could carry in the other. That is the only way I could choose one thing!
I would have to say my Tombow Markers for easy and beautiful watercolouring, My Cuttlebug for embossing and die cutting and my Spellbinder's dies for their gorgeous shapes
<------ loves dimension...so my boring, but true answer is dimensionals. I pop up something on 95% of my cards.
Totally agree with Leisa. Other than the paper, ink, and stamps that make my projects possible, dimensional adhesive might be the hardest thing to live without.

Me too me too! I wouldn't know what to do without my Perfect Layers I use them on every card I make.

Just saw this comment and had to reply! I have an extra set as well "just in case" I wouldn't know how to make a card without them!
My Cuttlebug! I love it!
Oh yeah, my paper cutter also. I have one of those big, old wood ones and just love it. Bought it at an auction about 10 years ago for $20.
